What Do You Love and What do You Hate about the town/city where you live? In one sentence or so for each, what attributes does your home have that keep you there and/or makes you threaten to move?

I'm in New York City and on this beautiful morning, I was thinking how much I love living in such a fabulous walking city; strolling down 5th Avenue and how all the walking keeps me in shape.

What do I hate about it? Being on constant "terror alert" status lately. That really sucks!

What about you?

<font color=navy>I love that we have so much here to do, practically perfect weather, and that everything is so close - the city, mountains, ocean, and desert - we have it all. :sunny:

What I hate is the high crime, and the smog ... oh, and all the traffic.

I live in the Los Angeles area, kinda close to the ocean.

I'm in Palm Beach County, FL

Hate:
The HEAT!
Elderly people who still drive but shouldn't (we get a lot of those)
Snowbirds and tourists who clog up my drive and increase prices.
Jellyfish and seal lice
It's so transient.
We have no family down here.
No basements.
Oh, and the heat.

Love:
It's beautiful! I forget about it until I've traveled and then come back and it's just so GREEN and pretty.
The skies down here are like now other, beautiful colors and amazing cloud formations.
Being close to the ocean (not that I go too much)
Being less than 3 hours to WDW!I'm in Palm Beach county, FL
Palm trees and tropical flowers.
When we finally take our DCL cruise, we'll be able to drive to the port. :D

In live in South Boston, you can walk to downtown Boston in approx. 35 minutes in drive in in 5-10 minutes depeding on the traffic/time of day. The thing I hate most about Boston would have to be the Big Dig, it's a mess here. Streets/routes are always changing, EVERYTHING seems like it's being dug up. I also hate the parking situation here, especially in the winter.

I like that I am close to Castle Island which is a great place to go walking and to go to the beach and there is a nice park a block away to take my daughter to. One other thing I love is that we're only a hour or so drive away from the Cape which I absolutely love! Actually, my husband surprised me with a surprise weekend away there for this coming weekend for my birthday which is tomorrow!

LOVE:
job opportunities in my field
museums, restaurants, and a lot of things to do and see

HATE:
the humidity
the TRAFFIC
house prices and high COL
the threat of terrorism

I live just north of Indianapolis in Carmel.

I love that we get just about every major entertainer and show coming through here. I love the fact that now I have 4 seasons! I had never before seen a fall like this past one. It was like a postcard or a movie, all the pinks, oranges, reds, and yellows.

I hate that now I have 4 seasons (snow lost its novelty really quick for me)! I hate that I miss FL sooooooo much. I hate that in the winter there is nothing to do......well.....nothing else to do ;)

Things I love about Washington, D.C.

Everything is on a much smaller scale than places like New York, Chicago, L.A., even Pittsburgh. Despite all the crime stories, it's a very livable place. Lots of nice affordable local restaurants. Distinctive neighborhoods. Fabulous culture. Beautiful gardens. We're only 1-2 hours from beautiful spots in West Virginia, Maryland and Virginia, where the city seems worlds away. I also love our Metro.

Things I don't love about Washington, D.C.

The traffic is unbearable, the inhabitants lack style, surburban housing is expensive and not even attractive (I see much more innovative, well-designed new neighborhoods in other areas). I wish the Metro had a stop in Georgetown, where I live. And it goes without saying, its no fun living somewhere that has already fallen victim to a terrorist attack, the threat of another attack looms over the city. :(

I live east of Albuquerque. I love the mountains and the awesome Mexican food. I hate the lazy attitude our courts take toward drunk drivers and unregistered and uninsured vehicles.

Love-
My family is right here...parents are 1/2 mile around the corner.
I have my dream home(within reason)
Live on a cul de sac with 4 houses...GREAT neighbors.
Pretty good school system

Hate-
Cold and/or snow for about 5 months a year
Too far from WDW

I love the quietness and safe feeling here.

I hate all the snotty rich people and their snobby little offspring.

I hate all the snotty rich people and their snobby little offspring

Ah, that must be where all those "hellion" kids in the jacuzzis come from! (Sorry-different thread, couldn't help myself)

I live in a N.E. Detroit Suburb.

Likes:

The city I live in was voted (by the FBI) one of the top 5 Safest Cities in the Country to live in for the past 3 years.

We have beautiful parks & hiking trails.

We have the #2 best school district in the State of Michigan (although I still send my DS to private school.)

We have low property taxes due to the big industries that are located in our city that help keep homeowners taxes low.

We are about 30 minutes away from beautiful Canada.

Dislikes:

We have winter.

We have humid summers.

We have lots of mosquitos in the humid summers.

Not as scenic as beautiful So. Calif (where we lived before we moved here.)

Prices of homes are getting so high that unless we already owned a home, we'd probably not be able to buy one now. (But still dirt cheap in comparison to So. Calif.!)

Too far from WDW! :(

I love the area: 4 distinct seasons, almost everything you could want nearby (airport, stores, etc.), friendly people, beautiful city with 3 rivers and the way it appears as you come through a tunnel or around a hill.

Hate: dreary days, litter bugs, and too far from wdw :D

What I like about Cleveland:

  • Great arts and entertainment scene for a city its size
  • Low cost of living
  • There's traffic, but not nearly as bad as other cities.
  • Despite the cold, snowy winters I like having four distinct seasons.
  • Great sports town

What I dislike about Cleveland:

  • Attitudes. A lot of people here have some kind of chip on their shoulders. white vs. black, city vs. suburb, east siders vs. west siders, all while the economy rots and the area falls further into decline.
  • Segregation and poverty. There are few truly diverse neighborhoods and a lot of racism.
  • The cops. Some of the rudest, most unhelpful people I have ever met are Cleveland cops. And I'm from New York!
  • Public transit stinks, but parking downtown is still expensive.

I love that my city where I live, feels like a smaller community... one where you don't have to worry if you leave your door unlocked, strangers say hi to you as you pass them while walking, that you can walk at night and feel safe... just that whole quiet, comfortable and safe feeling :)

I hate that we are so far from WDW :p

The things I love about Ocean City:

I feel safe and can walk anywhere at any time of day.
The boardwalk, especially in the fall.
The fall weather.
OCHS football
The schools
The recreation department
It's a dry town so no rowdy bars like Wildwood
The Humane Society(a no kill shelter rated in the top 10 by Cat Fancy mag.)
I could go on and on

What I Hate

The summer season of crowds, bridge openings and no parking places
New Jersey American water company

What I like about here?

I am an hour from Washington, D.C. and an hour from Richmond, VA. I have the ocean on one side, and the mountains on the other.

We have numerous places of historical interest, battlefields, a cute little "downtown" area with lots of little cozy restaurants and boutiques. It still has that "small town" appeal to it, but yet you can drive a little bit in one direction, and you are smack dab in the middle of a cornfield!

What I don't like about here?

Since just 20 years ago, it was still considered a farm town, there are very few side strees to escape from the traffic. Rte. 3 West makes I-95 look like a drive through the park! The town expanded and grew to fast, that coupled with poor planning makes a drive to the mall a nightmare!

I'm 3 hours from my family.

I live in a suburb of Rochester NY

Love:

My close neighbors, family, and friends. (of course)

One of the safest towns to live in the U.S.

No smog

3 minute drive to the largest, cleanest, most innovative grocery store I've seen in this country. Newly built public library fashioned after Barnes and Noble, right across the street from my neighborhood.

Less than 15 minute drive to Broadway plays, museums and childrens museums, lots of great restaurants, major malls, a lake with a sandy beach, and an old fashioned amusement/water park.

Summer. The art fairs, flea and antique markets, great parks, and outdoor concerts.

Fall. The beautiful foliage, the fresh air, the hayrides, farm markets.

HATE:

Ice and snow
Winters that last forever
pot holes!!
High taxes
High unemployment and the threat of a lay off looming constantly over DHs head.

What I Love about the Jersey Shore:

1.) We are 1 mile from the Atlantic Ocean
2.) We are less than an hour from NYC
3.) We are on a cul de sac and house backs up to a great park
4.) Have had many BrUUUUUUUUUUUUCe sightings!!!
5.) Windmill hotdogs

What I Hate:

1.) The taxes
2.) The bennies

Love-
The cultural diversity, plenty to do (Sports, Arts, shopping, great restaurants, etc), lots of greenery

Hate-
The heat and humidity at the height of summer, the traffic, too far from ANY Disney park ( I hate people that live in Southern CA or Central FL....j/k ;) )
