what do you love/hate about your Chrysler T&C

I have a 2002 Touring T&C. Although my dad didn't recommend it because of transmission issues - he was a mechanic at a dealer - it has been extremely reliable. We've had it for 5 years, and have added about 45K to the 43K it had on it when we bought it. So far, no major issues - just one blown fuse, replacing tires and brakes.

My favorite thing is absolutely the sliding door that serves to "eject" my kids at the school door during morning dropoff!

It's paid off & I plan to drive it til it dies, I'm hoping another 5 years so I can make it through my carpool days...

We have an '06 T&C Touring too. We love it--use it to drive the kids to/from school everyday and on long-distance road trips. Here's what I wish was different:

1. when sliding doors are opened, I wish the hazard lights didn't flash multiple times (sounds like a good safety feature, but at school pick-up *everyday* it's a little annoying). they flash again when the doors are closed.

2. I wish the rear middle seat belt had a sholder strap and not just the lap belt.

3. I wish the newer versions didn't look so boxy. Although a good car, the newer models are not as attractive to me. JMO.

We have a 2010 special edition (or limited edition - I forget the exact model) that we bought with 11 miles on it new and I can't stand it. The seats are horribly uncomfortable and the armrests are so scratchy that I hate resting my elbows on them. The carpet at the floorboard on the passenger side front seat will not stay tucked into the plastic so it is ALWAYS sticking out. Every time we have to take the van in for a repair we show that to them and they attempt to fix it but it has never stayed.

We have had it in the shop a half dozen times already to have things repaired or replaced due to recalls. The sliding door on the passenger side was a major headache and would pop open constantly until finally a recall was announced and somehow miraculously the dealership fixed it after that. We have received notice of a couple more recalls that we need to take it in for now.

The stow and go seating is nice and while the captain's chairs in the middle row look great, the van doesn't have much room for the 7 of us to take a long trip.

The kids like the dual screens for the entertainment system but the van only came with 1 set of headphones so we have to always listen to the DVDs on the speakers and those in the front seat can't listen to the radio unless we pony up for 4 more sets of headphones.

As far as gas mileage - it sucks for a van. We can't go 300 miles on a full tank even on the highway. The gas mileage is only slightly better than our Yukon was.

DH loves the van. I loathe it and miss my monster SUV. We are going to trade in our Jeep on another Yukon XL or Suburban before the end of the year and I can't wait. DH will then have to drive the van and I can have my SUV!

Good luck, OP. I think I am just diametrically opposed to driving a minivan. This is my 2nd one and I sooooo did not want another van but it was by far the most affordable option at the time. Our Yukon XL lost its ABS and transmission within 2 days of each other so we had to find something fast that fit our family. We got an amazingly great deal on the van and with the lifetime warranty we thought it would be a reliable family vehicle.

I have a 2008 T&C with all the bells and whistles. Though I love to drive a minivan, I don't like this particular year. Tons of recalls and I'm always in the shop for stuff not working too. Last month it was the heat not working. During the summer I had AC problems twice. The transmission has troubles. We have only 38,000 miles on it. I have been to the shop for recalls for 8 different things. Most of the time it's two days without my car which is annoying. The last recall was for the power doors that can catch on fire in the door panel. A little close to the gas tank I must say!! We have lots of issues with them not working right. Nothing like having a door stuck open. I actually just got a another recall letter yesterday. A hose that can leak into the passenger side dashboard and deploy the airbag, nice. Needless to say we will not buying another Chrysler. It will Sienna or Oddesey next time.

I had a 2005 T & C loved the car until the transmission went at 34,000 miles. The put a rebuilt one in. I was not happy about that. The van never drove the same way. I traded it in in 2007 for a Seina and will never go back to a Chrysler again.

Ugh. Our transmission has been slipping since we got the van. It is progressively getting worse. The dealership claims they can't find anything wrong with it. Wonder if that is the next thing to go.

Chrysler and Dodge products are known for their long-time brake and transmission problems. If you can replace brakes yourself and drive a manual transmission, I would not hesitate to buy one since they do have some nice innovative options and are decently equipped for what you pay. We've had a couple of Chrysler products in more recent years and both had horrible brake and transmission issues. The one, I'm glad we bought the 100K miles extended warranty. We sold it a couple thousand miles before the warranty ran out.

You can reprogram it so that it doesn't do it anymore. I forget exactly how but it's basically turing the key a few times & pressing the hazard light button. You can google the Chrysler Minivan forums & look it up there.

Now that Ford doesn't make a minivan, all my friends and family that drive minivans drive a T&C. Of course we are in the Motor City and few people drive foreign around here. We are on our third. We borrow headphones from friends when we take a trip and need more than 2. I've never bought a vehicle with an entertainment system that didn't have 2 sets of headphones. Seems unusual to me that you only got one.

I do not own one but have rented two in the past 2 yrs, LOVED them.

First the stow and go, great for stashing things during travel and great because even I can lower the seats for cargo space as needed.

Great gas mileage.

Easy to handle.

Felt safe while both a passenger and driving.

Lots of room for passengers on long trips.

Would consider buying one the next time I am in the market for a mini.

We now have the 2010 T&C and we had the 2007 T&C before and loved them both. We have had no issues at all with either van and took the 2007 from NYC to WDW and back and it was heaven.
