What do you love about the Magic?

Is there anything that stands out about the Magic that you love or is unique to that ship? I've only been on the Dream and am considering a cruise on the Magic. Not gonna lie we loved the Aquaduck so much and will miss it...just trying to convince myself that we'll love the Magic just as much as the Dream!

We're also looking at a Canada/New England cruise in October. It will be too cold for water activities for my son...will it be super crowded inside/not as much fun for him I wonder?

Don't be so sure about the October weather being too cold. We are having a very hot autumn right now and you could certainly still use the pool or the water play area right now.

As for the smaller ship being crowded, having been on every ship in the line except the Dream, I've never felt crowded anywhere, even in Alaska and the Norwegian fjords, where the outside activities where limited by the weather. There might be less space on the Magic, but there are also less guests onboard. (2700 vs 3500). The passenger-to-space ratio is almost identical (34 vs 37).

Finally, remember that a Canada/NE cruise (or any northern cruise) is quite different than a Bahamas cruise. To me, the ship is less important on those itineraries than the places where you stop. You'll still be on one of the best cruise ships, with excellent service and food.

There were plenty of kids using the pools last week on our Canada cruise. Seemed to have more to do with sun than warmth (the cloudy day my son was the only one there for awhile, any more kids on the sunny day even though it was technically a cooler temp).

My 8 year old has no problems with crowds in the kids clubs. The only issue I noticed was that in the video game area the kids were often doubled up but no one seemed to mind. The counselors handled any problems just fine.

I haven't been on the Magic yet, but I did do a "cold weather" cruise to Alaska aboard the Wonder. There were definitely kids swimming. The pools were kept fairly warm. (I dipped my toe, but sadly didn't get to swim because my son wasn't potty trained at the time). I wouldn't assume that everyone will be inside. My guess is that people will bring weather appropriate clothing and enjoy the decks as they did on our Alaska trip. DCL even puts blankets in some of the towel bins so that people can bundle up to watch funnel vision or read on deck.

I agree that the smaller ships don't seem crowded. There are times were certain areas of the ship get full, but there are always plenty of alternatives.
