What do you like to make in your Crock Pot?

Just made this last week for the first time. It was a big hit. It's got a nice kick to it.

Chicken Taco Soup

1 onion chopped
1 can chili beans
1 can black beans
1 can corn(drained)
1 8oz can tomato sauce
1 12 oz can beer or chicken broth_I used chicken broth, why waste a beer, lol
2 cans of Rotel(diced tomatos with green chilis)
1 package of taco seasoning
3 skinless, boneless chicken breasts

throw everything into the crock except the chicken. Mix it all together, then place the chicken on top, pushing it down so it is covered by liquid. Cook on low for 5 hours. Then take out chicken and shred it. Add it back and cook for another 2 hours. serve with cheese , sour cream and chips. I put a dollop of sour cream in mine. YUM!

I make a pot roast or beef stew (depending on how much water you add) in the crock pot- no real "recipe" I cook mostly from memory.

2-3 pound pot roast
12 oz can of V8
some water.... 1/2 cup is a good start....
carrots, onions, potatoes and a bay leaf.

put all this in your crock pot on low.... cook about 6 hours.... then add 1 package of brown gravy mix... cook another 2 hours on high- this will thicken your liquid. Sometimes I add more water and cut the veggies smaller and make this a stew....

Here is a crock pot recipe for Pot roast that will be the last you will ever try!

3 pound roast (or 2 smaller ones)
1 envelope ranch salad dressing mix
1 envelope italian salad dressing mix
1 envelope brown gravy mix
1/2 cup water

Place the roast in the crock pot. In a small bowl, mix the rest of the ingredients together, and pour over the roast. Cook on low about 6-8 hours depending on your crock pot.

I usually put some carrots on the bottom of the crockpot first, and then do the meat and gravy, and then put potatoes on top and let it all cook.

This is so yummy!!!

I have been doing this for a while now, but I am always afraid to put the ranch packet in, so I just do the italian and brown gravy...I guess next time I will take the plunge and do the ranch too!!!

I know! It sounds really odd, but for some reason, the ranch is not a really strong flavor when combined with the italian and brown gravy! Give it a try, and you'll never go back!

I like to cut up a ham (removing all the fat and nasty pieces) and stick it in the crockpot. Sprinkle a little brown sugar on top and add some whole cloves. Pour Pepsi (regular or caffeine free) on top until it almost covers all the meat. Cook on low for 7+ hours. Yummy!

A good one: Cook pot roast in 12 oz beer, 2tbs brown sugar and 2 tbs red wine vinegar. Add onions, and a bay leaf. Awesome.

Cook some sausage and throw it in the crockpot along with:
Chicken broth
A cup or two of milk
A bunch of kale
3 bunches of green onion
A diced red pepper
6-8 Potatoes sliced (like potato chips)
3 garlic
Black Pepper
Garlic Powder
Celery Powder
Sometimes I cook up some bacon and slice it up and throw it in too.

For those who like Olive Garden, this is similar to their Zoupa Toscana. I call it Kale Soup. My family loves this stuff. It's a good way to get them to each their veggies!

This thread is great. I have the best recipe for Chili you will ever taste. I dont have the recipe at work but I can post it later tonight

Anyone with a good Chicken and Dumpling Recipe for the crock pot? I've always just done it on the stove - its quite time consuming that way.

Thanks for the Recipes!! :thumbsup2

Oooh - I would love a chicken and dumplings recipie. WE love chicken and dumplins but I never have time to make it.

Here is our favorite...

Cheese and Chile Stuffed Chicken Breasts

4 boneless, skinned chicken breast halves, pounded thin
3 ounces cream cheese
3/4 cups shredded Cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese
4 ounces green chiles
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
salt and pepper to taste
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup hot enchilada sauce
PREPARATION:

Combine cream cheese, shredded cheese, chiles, chili powder and salt and pepper. Place a generous dollop on each flattened chicken breast, then roll up. Place chicken rolls in the slow cooker/Crock Pot, seam-side down. Top chicken breast rolls with remaining cheese mixture, soup, and enchilada sauce. Cover and cook on LOW for 6 to 7 hours. (This usually ends up being 8-10 hours in our house)

I can't say that I have a recipe but I seem to remember getting one of those "dinner helpers" ;) and it was quick, easy and very good! I just can't remember if it was a crock pot one or not!

I remember one that I think I got off the Dis.

It was cream of mushroom soup, chicken breasts, and then later a can of refrigerator biscuit. I was able to make it dairy free with a cream of mushroom soup from whole foods and I found a package of biscuit from Meijres that had no milk in them.

Anyone remember more about it?

Here is one that is always a hit around here, especially around football season! :cheer2:

Crawfish Dip

1 pound Jimmy Dean Hot Sausage
2 packages Crawfish (14-16oz)
2 pound package Velveeta Cheese
2 cans Mushroom Soup
1 small can Mushrooms
½ teaspoon Cayenne Pepper
½ teaspoon Tony’s
6-8 dashes Tabasco Sauce
Garlic Powder, to taste
Green Onions, to taste

Brown sausage and pat dry. Melt Velveeta in microwave. Add all ingredients in crock pot. Cook on high until heated thought.

Turn on low and keep warm while you serve with crackers, bread or corn chips.

We have stew going in the crock pot right now. Just throw in beef, frozen corn, peas, and carrots, chopped potatoes, and 2 packets stew mix. Let cook for 12 hours. Yummy.

I'll have to go thru this thread and check out recipes!! :thumbsup2

I just have to tell you guys this story.

I bought a new 6 qt. Rival crock pot about 2 years ago. I use it all the time (hence me bumping this thread again!) but have noticed from the beginning that is cooked REALLY REALLY fast. For instance, a recipe that I made last night was suppose to cook for 8-10 hours on low and it was DONE IN 3 HOURS!! Even my counter was getting hot. Well since I bought it so long ago I did not think that there was anything I could do about it (yes, if I had been smart I would have returned it but it didn't really "sink" in that something was not right for sometime) but I was telling my girlfriend and she said I should call Rival to see if there was a recall on this product. So I called yesterday and spoke to the nicest guy. He asked what was wrong, made sure that I had the setting on low (lol) and then told me that he was going to "hook me up"!!:lmao:

He is sending me a BRAND NEW 6.5 digital crock pot with saute feature built right in it! It also has a 50 page cook book. It is an $80 pot and he is sending it for FREE!!! I was shocked! I thanked him over and over and just kept laughing. All I called for was to see if it was recalled and he did this!!!

BTW...he told me that he could not tell if my model had been recalled but I could check it online. I have not had a chance since it was hot last night after cooking...need to check the model number underneath!
