I have always had soup, grilled cheese and popsicles when I have been sick in the past...but now what? Protein seems a bit heavy and the "lack" of vitamins from fruit and veggies are a bit of a concern. Any thoughts on this? Guess who has the flu and wants chicken noodle or tomato soup?????

Cook up some homemade chicken broth. A nice fatty chicken with water, salt, pepper, saffron --- YUM! Enjoy the broth first and add some of the chicken or a scrambled egg [for egg drop soup] when you feel up to it. If you want something icy cold try to make some ice cubes with crystal light.

Hope you feel better soon!

I'm not on Atkins but I put my diet on hold whever I get sick. I figure my body needs the extra nutrients & I don't feel like eating too much anyway. Hope you feel better soon!

There are sugar free popsicles, they have 2 carbs (Lifesaver) or 3 carbs (Popsicle) each. At least they aren't refined carbs.

Oh gosh, I'm so sorry to hear you aren't feeling well. I sure hope it isn't that "wicked" flu that is invading the country.

I have been fighting it for a few days now....and today I gave up. I have been lucky in that I have not had a tremendously high fever and no tummy ailments.....just a very runny but yet stuffed up nose, headache and body aches. Can't imagine how I would feel if I did not have a flu shot. I will definately have Greg get me some sugar free popsicles and think about making a pot of soup!!(or maybe Greg will be a sweetie and make it...) Sounds yummy and warm. Maybe some hot tea with splenda might be a good idea too!! Thanks for your help. I knew you guys would have an answer. Well, off for another nap. Thanks again!!!

Sorry to hear you're feeling rotten, Liz. :(

If you're not up to making soup, how about just heating some canned chicken broth? Sugar free jello might be good too.

Hope you're felling better soon. :)

I use low-carb bread (7g carbs per slice) and make grilled cheese sandwiches on occasion. I know I can't eat them all the time, but when I'm sick.....I try to give my body what it wants, while still being careful not to over-carb.

I sure hope you're feeling better soon! :(
