What do you have your AC set at?

77? 78?? 82??? You guys are going to need to air condition your air conditioned rooms!

I'm with Cornflake on this one. Mine stays at 67 day and night.

Yikes! 72 during the day and 69 at night...I couldn't sleep with the AC set over 69 or 70. After the days of no power and 90-100 degree heat following the June 30 storm, I want to be cool, cool, cool.

Huh. I thought I was going crazy turning it down to 76 at night. We live in Orlando, so the air runs 10 months out of the year. If I went any lower, I'd feel positively decadent! You know I turn the air way down at hotels, though ;)
We have a mid-size house, but with a unit for up and downstairs, and by keeping upstairs at 80, we almost never go above $200, except maybe July. My husband would freak if our power bill were $300 (or more!!!!).
But since everyone else is doing it...hang on while I print this thread to use as proof...

79 here - yes, we too went without power following the last storm. But I appreciate the 79 over the 100 degrees that it has been outside.

77 and if I am doing housework, I'll set down a degree or two.

75/76 at night.

I keep the beauty shop much cooler though--70-72.

We have ours set at 78 degrees and have the fan set to ON all the time. My last electric bill was ~$180.

What surprised me was our water bill. Our last bill was ~$160 because we were watering our lawn. That was about $45 higher than usual. Well, about a month ago we gave up on watering the lawn (we are in Indiana; severe drought with water restrictions). I just got the most recent bill today and it was $145; $30 higher than usual. What is up with that?? :confused3

76 if we're at home.

We have a programmable thermostat provided by our utility...we pay different amounts during peak times.

Our last bill was $140.

Have been setting it down to 74 for sleeping.

74 during the day. Turn it off at night because it always cools down enough at night to require a light blanket if the windows are open.

Love our weather. It can be 100 degrees during the day, but you always have a sweater for the evenings if you are outside.

78-80 during the day

77 at night. The thermostat for the main level is in a two story family room, so other rooms of the house on the first floor feel colder as I think the family room tends to stay hot with all the windows. Not the best location for that thermostat. Have all my shutters closed.

We have three AC units that are chugging along non-stop. $365.00 bill this past month.

I just want the humidity out of the house. I really don't like it ice cold.

Winter...68-69 during the day. 64 at night.

We keep our house cool because it is easier to put on layers like sweaters, sweats, or a blanket. Besides, I don't think most people would appreciate me walking around naked if I get too hot.:scared:

77 and 78 does feel cool for us. My girls and one of their friends are sitting on the couch under the fan and each one of them has a blanket on Lol!

When no one is home, we have it set at 74, 72 when we are home. We have a programmable thermostat and ceiling fans in all the bedrooms. We also have solar screens on the south facing windows which keeps the house nice and cool. Our power bill for this month was $130.

Well, ours was set at 75 but it freaking broke today and no repair guy till tomorrow.

So it's 11:30pm and it's 86 in here. This suuuucks!! :mad::mad::sad1::scared::crazy2::mad:

We have a new system. Washington DC temps reached 100 degrees again today. Our A/C is set on 79 and we still have bills over $200 a month. I guess your cost for electricity is cheaper than ours.

Size of houses are probably a big reason too. We have a 1000 sq ft house, set on 72 with a window ac running at night in the bedroom, a large fish tank, tv's on all night and people that don't know how to shut off a light to save them. Our bill is 175.

If we set ours any higher, I can feel the humidity inside. I couldn't imagine setting ours that high!

I will say our new A/C unit we got last summer is awesome. Our old unit was 25 years old and did the job okay, but now our bill has been cut in half!

See, this is what I've been wondering. Two of our units are 13-14 years old. The basement unit is only 6. If we were to replace them with updated models, I wonder how fast we're recoup our money as a result of lower bills. Our bill last month was $395 - and we keep it very moderate in here.

78 degrees all the time. No fans. 1600 sq ft house. 10 years old so very well insulated. Leave blinds closed when it's supposed to be over 90. All electric and dang we do a lot of laundry. (No clothes line). Power bill last month was $98 & change. I nearly whooped with joy when I saw it. I was expecting much more. Of course I wander through the house at night in the dark & turn off lights a lot. lol Oh, and we're on a well so that includes running a pump too. :thumbsup2

We just got a new HVAC system with a new programmable thermostat, so finally I know what it's set at! (I never could tell with that little arrow).

It was set at 72 and I was FREEZING, so I inched it up to 75. I guarantee my husband will come along and push it down again. I', probably going to set it so it's at 80 when we're away from the house, and then down to 74 or so when we're about to come home.

I keep it at 78, sometimes 80. My dd likes it much colder, so if she's home alone, she pushes it down to 72.

2200 sq. ft. house - central air kept set on 77 all Summer long. We do have ceiling fans in all the main floor rooms. Got my electric bill yesterday - $98. :teeth:
