What do you have your AC set at?

78 during the day, 73 at night. I would love to keep it around 67-70, but there's no way we could afford that.

72 or 74. Our AC system is really out of date and doesn't have the capacity to cool our 4,500 sq. ft. house effectively, so it runs 24/7. We plan on updating it next spring.

Right now, it's at 78. I stay cold, so when DH is gone, I put it on 80 unless it's horribl hot outside.

I have a 10,000 btu window unit cooling the whole house. We have side sliding windows so we have a $500 vertical unit and can't put one in the small bedroom windows. It is set on 67 and the thermometer 8 feet away reads 73. Humidity is unusually low right now in the house at 48%. Usually humidity is around 60%. It is nice today. Usually it can't keep up and it is way too hot to sleep in the evenings.

Last night it was forcasted to be 67. I shut the ac off and ppened windows. Big mistake. Woke up swealtering at 4 am so I just got up and went to work.

Work is a different story. The plant is about 100 when it is 85 out. The ac broke in my control room and they cheapened out and put a window unit in the wall. Management has meetings in the mornings when it is still cool and around 75 in the room. They see it as a great idea that they saved money. At 1 pm, they don't see the near 100° that the room gets too. 2 weekends it was over 110 that the shift operators had to work in. It is no sweat off management's back, their office ac unit works just fine.

Apartment, central air, we keep it at 72 - it's been over 90 for two months it feels like.

80 most of the time. Occasionally, we will go crazy and turn it down to 79. :lmao: Seriously, this is perfectly comfortable to me. We have no problems at all.

I keep the a/c set at 79. It gets hot in here from 4-8pm, as the sun is beating down squarely on the back of the living room (sliding glass door), so it's running constantly then--usually at 81 for that time frame. I do have two ceiling fans running in the living room/computer area, as well as in 3 of the 4 bedrooms (can't have a fan in DS's room--his bed is too tall).

During the winter, I keep the thermostat at 68. I wear layers.

In the summer, the electric bill runs between $175-200 (I'm running a pool filter off and on during the day as well). In the winter, it can go as low as $90.

The water/sewer stays pretty steady, between $50-70 a month.

We keep ours at 75. I think it's cold in here, but my teens and DH say it's too hot, so 75 is our compromise.

75 during the day. 74 at night. We only have 2 ceiling fans in this house - 1 on each floor - and they are both on whenever someone is on that level.

78 in the summer, never touched.
68 in the winter, setback to 64 when we sleep.

the best i can do is 74. my youngest DS is still a baby and naps during the day. his room tends to get warm because we haven't put a ceiling fan in yet (i just don't want the air blowing on him like that yet). i had to turn it down to 73 last night because his room was too warm.

85 day

79 night

Right now it is heading down from 83 to our sleeping 79 and will go to 85 setting at 8:00AM

Between 70 and 72 when we are home. When we are at work we bump it up to 74 so it's not running all day long. Anything warmer than 72 when I'm home, makes me feel ill from the warmth, and the kids complain it's too hot as well.

Air at 77 (and I'm cold sometimes!) and the heat at is 68.

This is my house. I actually turned mine back up to 78 a few weeks ago because I noticed people were watching tv with blankets on their legs!

I would freeze in a house in the 60's!!

We keep our house cool because it is easier to put on layers like sweaters, sweats, or a blanket. Besides, I don't think most people would appreciate me walking around naked if I get too hot.:scared:

We live in an early 18th century house, so central air is out for us. We have a couple of tiny window units that usually run at about 74-5 when we're using the room and on energy star at 78 when we're not. Haven't gotten our first electric bill with them (we were being all tough with just a fan, but we couldn't take it anymore), but the average yearly cost for each, according to the tags, is under $50.

It's tough in the living room, but if you turn on the a/c in the study to 73 or 74 and put a fan in the doorframe, you can cool down the living room by a good ten degrees.

Central air, set on a program to for 78 during the day, 74 in the evening. With the ceiling fans running and an ambient temp of 76 feels decent. Much cooler and I actually need a sheet. We used to keep our AC on 72 but with the heatwave summers, we have adjusted.

WOW!!!! Some of you would save some serious money if you would get new AC Units.
Ours is set at 69 all the time and our bill usually runs around $125.

However we got a new system last year....before new system we had it set at 73 and average summer bill ran $250.

The system cost around $2400 - so it has already paid for half it's cost - by next summer it will have paid for itself.

We have a new system. Washington DC temps reached 100 degrees again today. Our A/C is set on 79 and we still have bills over $200 a month. I guess your cost for electricity is cheaper than ours.
