What do you hate most about your school's dress code?

Our uniforms are so Bland.

It's a grey polo and black pants.

But some people dont wear it and get no penalty for it.

No tank-tops
No skirts or shorts above the fingertip

We don't have a dress code. They honestly couldn't care less what we wear, as long as we wear something. I've heard some colleges/certain classes have a business professional dresscode!

Most of you guys have it easy...my dress code is insane.
I go to a private school and this is what we wear...
A white polo (short or long-sleeved)
A Sweater or Sweater Vest [only required from November 15-April 5, wooo hooo its off tomorrow :)]
Our Skort (there is a different color for each grade)
Tights or Knee Highs, navy blue only
Burgundy Penny Loafers or these ugly black Combat Boot looking things

Yes, it sounds fine but here are the restrictions.
- Your Polo MUST be buttoned all the way, with the exception of the top button
- You can only wear a white undershirt, no lace, no cream color etc.
- Your skort must be 3 inches above the knee
- You can not have a SAFETY PIN in your skirt, even if your button is broken
- If you are wearing your sweater, your white shirt can't be sticking out
* Failure to follow these mentioned above results in a detention

So yes, I have had a detention for the SAFETY PIN in my skort. And that is not in the handbook. Actually none of those rules above are in the hand book besides the length of your skort. My school is insane, and lately the teachers have been going crazy

Gosh, sorry for my vent. But it feels good to let it out. :)

i don't have a problem with it actually. I never get in trouble

wow really?
is it like..an English thing?

It's very rare to find a school in the UK where you're allowed to wear whatever you want. It's all mainly uniform. I think it's because we're supposed to be more focused on our studies then our clothes, or it eliminates bullying based on what you wear, because you wear the same thing.

At the school I go to, there's no uniform :teeth: Though, it's a 6th Form College, instead of a normal school. I'm not sure on the clothing rules, but it's small things like no wearing hats or coats in the lessons.

No sweatpants, no cuffed or frayed jeans, socks pulled up to your shorts (what the hell is our principal, the fashion police?), no groups/band tees and this:

E. Spiked collars, spiked wristbands, or other clothing, jewelry, or accessories that could pose a threat to student physical well-being and safety. This includes Goth make-up and accessories.

how does goth make up post a physical threat?

I hate how your shorts have to be at least at your knee. I can never find shorts like that.

Our shoes have to be mostly black, white, brown, or grey.
Our jackets Have to be Solid colors.
our socks have to be White, black, or navy.
we can't wear flip-flops.
Guys hair can't touch the collar. (I agree with Devan, most guys would look so much better with longer length hair.)

i have ALOT of complaints.

::yes::
It probably makes me sound like a hussy, but I like shorter shorts. It gets hot in May and June - 85 degrees with 9-% humidity. Sometimes the school air conditioning doesn't work, and there aren't enough windows in that school to make it cool.
I'm not talking about Daisy Dukes, but seriously, just short enough to be comfortable in the heat.
It's not even like I'm gonna pair them with sky high heels - flip flops and sneakers is all I'm asking.

im happy i dont go to a private school! you guys have it hard! my school says they care but they dont. i wear w.e i want so its all good. like when its hot i wear a tank top and soffee shorts rolled up like 2/3 times... which is short lol. if i had to follow any of those dress code rules i'd probably have to buy a bunch of new clothes.
actually.. at one point we weren't aloud to wear leggings... but we all protested one day and every girl wore them and they stopped that rule lol.

That's the thing - I go to public!

Ours isn't so bad. Girls can't wear tank tops and that's pretty much all that is reinforced. And of course if your shirt has something offensive on it you go to the principals office and you change into this HUGE baggy lime green t-shirt that says "DRESS CODE VIOLATION" in bold letters so everyone knows and see's.

oh yeah, i forgot about the solid color jacket thing. so dumb.

I love my schools dress code. Pretty much as long as you're showing off nothing that's private, it fits the dress code.

Here's my uniform:

Blue long sleeve shirt
Blue polo shirt with school logo (Easter-October optional)
Navy tie with red and green stripes and yellow lions.
Black V-neck (optional)
Black fleece with school logo (optional)
Black trousers
Black or white socks
Black shoes
Black waterproof with school logo (optional)
Black coat with school logo (optional)

I hate the you can't wear your own coats rule. The V-neck, the fleece and the coat put together are like 1cm thick and in snow that's kind of FREEZING =@ They really enforce that one too.

The 6th form in my school get to wear whatever they like in my school. And I mean whatever. Sometimes, like on the last day of term and stuff, they were like some crazy costumes.

Same complaint as you, Sonya. I can see what they mean though. I'm sure some sluts girls would show their bras and thongs by wearing booty shorts and tanks. But still, it would be nice to wear summery clothing when it's hot.

We have uniforms. =/ It's not so bad, I guess. But we can only wear solid leggings, and if we wear long sleeves under our polos they can only be black or white. And no hanging earrings or "unnatural" hair colors. Also, the boys' hair has to be short, I'm not sure where the cut-off is though. But the good part is, we can pretty much wear whatever jewelry we want [besides the earrings thing] and whatever belts we want. Oh yeah, and another thing I forgot that I HATE is we have to have our shirts tucked in. :headache: I hate that so much. xD Usually we work around that by untucking it but rolling it up so it looks tucked in, lol.
