What do you hate about Disney?

I too have witnessed grown men push small children out of the way to view parades. It's really sad.

The water is horrible.
No affordable rooms for families larger than 5.

I dislike that some people have the attitude that Disney World is only for kids. (and usually that means only their kids!) I just celebrated my 40th birthday at Disney World and I think it was the best trip I've ever had. I had breakfast at Cinderella Castle and had my photo taken with all the Princesses. If I had the guts, I would've dressed up like Cinderella just to give everyone else something to talk about.

I would never dream of intentionally stepping in front of a child at a parade, phot op, etc. Why do parents think it is OK to shove their kid in front of me or that I shouldn't be there? When I stand in line for a character or wait for a parade with my five year old, we patiently wait. I absolutely see red when I have been waiting on a curb for an hour to see a parade and a parent shoves their kid right next to us and they stand in the back. Am I expected to babysit??? The kid then climbed all over me!!

I suppose all I ask if for people to be patient and be considerate of others.

How Animal Kingdom always seems more humid than any of the other parks. What's with that?

Now thats weird, cos each time i was there, it was WAY colder than any other park which is why i hate it!

I dislike (hate is too strong a word) that we wait months to go to WDW and once we get there the time flies by

Will there be a Celebration/Coronation on that day? :confused3

I think they're planning a ceremonial turning of Walt in his grave.

That COP is usually seasonal. Line jumpers, and the CM's that ignore them. That in Jan a CM was programming her cell phone during Country Bear Jamboree. Eisner, Iger and all of the associated.

I just came back on Monday. :earsboy:
Unfortunately, a week before we left I had an emergency D&C. (complications of diabetes-newly diagnosed) I spent 2 days in hospital, having dehydrated after procedure (not good). I was allowed to go if I promised to take it easy. It was hard- had to nap each day. This trip was so different because I noticed things I never had before.
It annoys me that it is so hard to get to and from certain parks and attractions. I hate changing buses. It sucks. Plus I feared for my life every time a bus driver took a turn. I'm sorry, but ALL WHEELS need to remain on the ground at all times. Additionally, small children do not need a seat on a crowded bus. That's what parents have laps for. (Half Kidding!) I still believe that men should give up seats also.
There needs to be more eateries everywhere, but not expensive ones. Some good food that's healthy and lower priced. You either have to eat burgers for $7 or sit down for $30 a piece. And the mugs are now $11.99!! (We bring all ours back-even other resorts) I also wish there was a dining guide for all parks & downtown like they have park maps. Just one folded piece of paper listing all restaurants.

Plus, people are just so rude anymore. We went for a cheerleading competition. One of the girls was hurt during finals (torn cartilage in her knee) . She had to sit in a wheelchair. Sunday afternoon at MK some jerk actually said she didn't look like she needed the chair!! What gall. I thought Disney was supposed to be so great for those in wheelchairs, but my eyes have been opened. Some people seemed annoyed that Ashly wasn't walking. I NEVER would comment on someone whose injury wasn't obvious. She got a lot of nasty and confused looks from people. The Nerve!
I can't wait for next year, though! ::MickeyMo

Wow, I hate it when that happens! Anyone who doesn't look like they're totally incapacitated gets that sort of treatment, and I'm afraid it's not just at WDW. My mother has MS, and has some leg difficulties, but is marginally mobile. But honestly, watch her park in a handicapped space, and all the creeps come out of the woodwork to judge the "level of her handicap". Same thing with my MIL just after open-heart surgery...used a wheelchair under a doctor's advice last time we went to Disney. Yes, she could walk...but only short distances. Someone saw her get out of the chair to use the toilets, and no exaggeration, verbally attacked her and made her cry!
Well, guess there's a lot of people under all different kinds of stress these days...who knows why things set some people off? I just hope to learn some kind of lesson from these occurrences....mainly, to try not to judge others when I don't know the whole story. I hope Ashly's trip wasn't spoiled by this, and I hope she saw the lesson in it all...not just the anger.

I don't mean to be nitpicky, I know you are probably just venting but...

There are more counter service choices at WDW than at any other place I have ever been to. If I recall, there was a place in AK where I got rotiserie chicken with mashed potatos and veggies for about $8 and there was a place in MK where I got a turkey wrap. In Epcot, each pavillion in the world showcase has counter service places that are pretty inexpensive and have a lot of the same food as the sit downs for a fraction of the cost. MGM definately had less choices, but I know I got salad somewhere.

Saying that your only choices for food are a $7 hamburger or a $30 per person sit down meal is a little bit of an exaggeration. I wouldn't bother pointing this out but there may be new people here who have never been to WDW before and I'd really hate for them to think their choices were that limited. In fact, it's really only the high end restaurants where you are spending $30 per person for an entree. Most of the moderate places you are looking at closer to $15 per adult for an entree. In fact, one of our favorites is the buffet in the German pavillion at Epcot. I think for lunch it's $16 per person and the food is varied and very good.

I also wish there was a dining guide for all parks & downtown like they have park maps. Just one folded piece of paper listing all restaurants.

Restaurants are also listed on the park maps.

Also, for more detail, before you go, you can print out entire menus from :www.wdwig.com has copies of the menus from most of the onsite restaurants, including counter service. This is a free site.

There is a pocket sized dining guide book as well published by Disney done by Birnbaum, the guy who does the official guide. If you are interested, here is the amazon.com listing :

I've seen this before. It's really very sad that idiots feel the need to try and make people in wheelchairs feel bad. The worst are the morons who think that because someone is in a wheelchair they must be getting into all the rides and shows first. Usually it's a longer wait for rides to wait for the car that can accomodate and often they are given seats way in the back for shows. I can't even imagine what kind of a moron feels the need to make a comment to a child in a wheelchair. IMO, people who do that should be booted out of the park and not re-admitted.

Hi,
My only complaint about disney is that on almost every ride you get off you end up in a souvenir shop....

The food is over priced, the tickets are over priced, and the hotels are over priced. It just costs too much.

Of course they will charge what ever they think they can get... and I guess enough people will continue to pay it - but what I hate about Disney the most is that the corporation is greedy.

Everyone is too quick to judge others. How many times have their been threads on this very board about people "abusing" wheelchairs and ECVs at WDW? IMHO, people should just mind their own business and not worry about what other people are "getting away with."

Same goes for people cutting in lines. Is it rude? Sure. Is it worth getting upset about? Doesn't seem like it to me.

Are you saying you think a person who gives a child in a wheelchair a hard time about being in a wheelchair should not be punished for their actions?

IMO, that is a lot different that someone who cuts in line. Cutting in line = stupid and annoying but not really worth getting that upset over.

Harrassing wheelchair bound children = unforgivable & an offense worthy of removal from the parks.

I believe you misunderstood me. I'm saying that people shouldn't concern themselves with whether or not others "deserve" to be using a wheelchair.
