Do you give gifts or make baskets? If so, what is in them? Do you decorate the house or bake yummy treats?

I'm just looking for ideas and wondering what everyone else does!

Thanks!

I have done Baskets before with Body Products, Stickers and Games but normally I just do a Present this Year they are both getting a Wii Game and a small box of Chocolate.

My two get a present and some kind of candy. My dd will be getting a pair of Hannah Montana earrings and a webkinz, my ds will be getting his xbox 360 hooked up to the internet (he has been begging for this). My dd's birthday is the day after valentines so that makes it kind of tight.

Yikes - I'm in the minority here - I've never gotten my kids a thing! I never got anything growing up, and my boys have never mentioned that their friends get Valentine's Day gifts - so I just assumed that was the norm. I do bake a red velvet cake in a heart shaped pan that they look forward to decorating, and I send them off to school with their Valentines for the class party, but that's it! They come home with enough candy & trinkets from the school party, that I guess I figured they didn't need anything else from me!

I'll make sure they don't read this thread or they'll be expecting something this year!

a card, a little candy and usually a DVD or a ball of some kind(whichever sport ball is in worst shape) We spend under $40

I am surprised at the high priced gifts kids get for vday! Christmas just ended, i couldn't think of a gift to get dd if i tried.

we make our own cards and we will give her a box of chocolates.

We give the kids Disney Dollars(usually $10) and candy.

DH and I don't buy gifts for each other, or cards for that matter.

When I was a little girl I always got a heart box with chocolates from my dad on Valentine's day and a valentine from my mom. I was sad when I got to high school and that tradition stopped.

I always give my son a little box of chocolates and a hand made valentine telling him that I love him. We will usually bake valentine cupcakes together and this year we made his valentines for his class instead of buying them.

We didn't usually get gifts for Valentines Day growing up. Every once in awhile we got a new shirt or socks with hearts on them:) Sometimes my mom would get a bag of candy (a rare treat in our house) to put out on the table. We always looked forward to picking out a box of Valentines for our classmates.

I have always given kids a box of candy and a little something, either a DVD or a little silver trinket for DD. I generally don't spend more than $20 on each. This year, I will give them the candy and a $20 bill. They are both teenagers and cash is where it is now....:rotfl:

I usually give my girls a small box of chocolates and a card. But this year I think I'll do the Disney Dollars instead. :) I think they will appreciate that much more!

We have always given (now teenage) DS a Valentines present... began as a VCR tape (generally Disney) when he was younger, nowadays it is whatever DVD he shows the biggest interest in, or a cheaper video game (like $25.00 or under) plus he got a little box (one of the tiny like 4 piece) of chocolates when younger, it switched to a box of the heart shaped candy (maybe named Converstion Hearts) as he got older. We still do this! :goodvibes Generally, we all go out to eat as a family for VD, but not on VD (too crowded)... we go the day before or after!

I thought it was so sweet when I was a kid. My mom was a stay at home mom but on V-Day my sis and I each go to invite 3 friends over after school so a total of 8 kids. Mom would put a pink table cloth on the table and feed us red and pink after school snacks, (yogurt, strawberries, etc) served on pretty party plates and we got to drink pink punch from champagne glasses then as dessert she made big heart shaped cookies with each person's name scripted in frosting. We then played till the parents came and picked them up. I think my mom had too much time on her hands. :rotfl2: Great memory though!

Mine get a heart full of chocolate and I do decorate the kitchen and the bay window.

We make sugar cookies shaped like hearts. I get my mom and sis a little something... nothing major.. box of chocolates and maybe a little something else.

This year I'm spoiling my niece and nephew. Usually I get them each a toy but this year they're getting a S'mores pony. They had them at target for $50 so that's only $25 a kid, really. I have the bisquit dog (target $45) and they LOVE him but are.. well.. kids and kinda rough. S'mores is a bit more sturdy and I want them to have it sooner than Easter (which I'd planned)

Mine will each get a small heart-shaped box of chocolates (I am hoping to find Disney theme but I'll take whatever is cheap, LOL) and I ordered each of them a book from Scholastic ($4 each), plus now I am thinking I might get them a DVD to share, but that will depend on what it is out and on sale. We will be leaving for Disney three weeks after Valentine's day and I bought each of them a personalized messenger bag from Disneyshopping.com which will be filled with little goodies for the park - they won't get them until we leave however, so these don't count as Valentines gifts - but it makes me think I can get away with going on the cheap this year!

I do tend to decorate our front windows and I have a heart garland for draping over the arch between the living room and dining room....Oh, and I have a Fisher Price Little People Valentine set that I put out on the coffee table (I have them for all the holidays, my DH thinks I am a tad looney....) I usually bake cupcakes but this year the kids requested one big cake since Feb 14th is also Oregon's 150th birthday. Any excuse for them to blow out candles...

I dont know what to do this yr. In the past it was a stuffedanimal ,movie , a book and a lil candy, and a card and some sort of valentine food .. heart shaped pancakes for breakfast.. heart shaped sandwich.

Im not a parent that buys all yr so holidays tend to be a little bigger than maybe most.

He just got a new Wii game last week because of a last gift card coming in from xmas.

I think I will do a new gameboy game and books and a small set of legos that just came out.
Our stuffed animal days are over!
Very little candy, he just doesnt need it.

Mine will get a kiss and a hug from me (just like every other day). Maybe I'll make some heart-shaped pancakes.

We always give something small...movie, etc. My kids are excited to get anything - I just bought some cute outfits from Gymboree so I may wrap them up. Luckily my girls love getting new clothes...I'll just have to come up with something better for my son.
