What do you feed your dogs???(ot)

It appears to me that most everyone is speaking in terms of dry dog food. Is dry better than wet (canned) for full-grown dogs? Would love info on this. We have been feeding our mutt a can of Pedigree in the a.m. then scoops of dry Pedigree in the p.m. Of course, she really prefers the hot dogs dh grills for her on Sunday, but I know that stuff isn't healthy! Comments appreciated...

A premium wet food is better than a premium dry food, due to the fewer perservatives, and there is more liquid. However, if you have a large dog (as do we, 2 of them), it would cost a fortune to feed them just wet. Our dogs get wet and dry mixed in the morning, and dry only at night.

Thanks for posting the ratings of dog food. My problem is that my dog is such a picky eater that Beneful is the first food he actually eats once a day. Like I put in my previous post he was originally on Purina Pro Plan and he only ate once every two or three days.

Then he was on Purina One and it was a little better but not much.

When I switched to Beneful he eats every day. But looking at the number of the review I feel bad about feeding it to him and may want to switch.

Any suggestions for a dog that is picky and may not eat the premium food.

I had to chime in as I have not seen anyone mention the brand I feed my 14-year old extremely finicky Siberian Husky: Merrick's (http://www.merrickpetcare.com/). I am thrilled to death that she eats their food and loves it!. I used to feed her Nature's Recipe senior, but most stores slowly phased it out so it became harder to get. Also, my sister (who recommended it to me initially) informed me it had been bought out by one of the major dog food manufacturer's and the formula had changed so I didn't really trust it any longer. Then came the challenge of finding a new food for my fur-baby; she would literally eat maybe just a few times a week - and I spent a fortune trying all kinds of foods (everything except the grocery-store brands which I utterly refuse to feed her) which she would NOT eat! Merricks is a canned food with very plain natural ingredients - meats and veggies! She's been eating nothing but canned for several years and her teeth are clean as a whistle - she gets crunchy chews as well to make sure they stay that way, with the occasional pig's ear as a treat. My fur-baby is 14, still peppy, and still takes a two-mile walk every day! I am intrigued by BARF and will have to check it out... don't know if I'll go changing up her diet at this late stage, but would like to educate myself about this option.
