What do you eat when dieting (or eating healthy)

If you like almonds, the new Almond Milk by Silk is FABULOUS! I take 1 cup of that and 1/2 c of Silk Chocolate soy milk and mix it for breakfast. It's a chocolate almond treat! Seriously, it's really yummy!

This sounds so good!!! I will have to try it:thumbsup2

High protein bars: Atkins, Kelloggs. Protein shakes. Anything with 10+ grams of protein per serving.
My nutritionist said dense foods are good: meat, cheese, eggs, again high protein.
Green veges and some fruits.

Quaker Oats fiber bars.

The high protein tricks your body into thinking it's not hungry and "tells" the body to burn fat first and not protein from your muscles.

Trail mix: peanuts, cashews, almonds, raisins and a few M&Ms to "spice" it up. No more than a handful at a time. Again, dense high protein foods.

Try cutting dinner portions on half. You'll be surprised that much less food satifies you. That means you were overeating to bgin with.

I've lost 20 pounds since about mid-January and I don't see putting it back on although I have about 60 more to go.

My favorite snack is cut up strawberries and fat free coolwhip. I also throw other types of berries in there as well.

My favorite snack is cut up strawberries and fat free coolwhip. I also throw other types of berries in there as well.

A cut up banana is also great with a couple of tablespoons of Fat Free Cool Whip. Almost like banana pudding.

My favorite snack is two scoops of vanilla whey, 1 cup of cold water & a frozen banana.:banana::banana:

A few of my favorite items that help me lose very well, but stay full, are
-grilled chicken (I do a few marinated breasts at a time and slice to keep
in fridge all the time-- even for snacking)
-hard-boiled eggs
-0% fat Chiobani Greek yogurt
- lots of mixed greens
-black bean mango salsa I make. (Black beans, fresh or frozen corn, red pepper, diced mango, red onion and balsamic vinegar. It is almost no fat, high in fiber and terrific with fish, chicken, salads.)

I lost almost 20 lbs on WW Core program in a few months by being sure to have these on hand, even for snacking.

For a treat I like to keep the smaller Peppermint Patties in the freezer. I also used skim milk to make the fat free Jello pudding occasionally.

I love to bake and make wonderful breads, so I knew I needed to stick to healthy proteins and hardly any bread. Rather than have a hugely varied diet, I actually preferred having fewer things that were easy to vary and keep in stock.

I should probably get back on track with this. Unfortunately when I get back to baking, the good stuff loses its appeal...

Good luck!!!

Eat an entire angel food cake throughout the day (only 877 calories!). Oh, and a salad :)

I'm kidding, I make my own yogurt parfaits with sliced strawberries, bear naked vanilla almond granola (only 120 calories per serving which I use less than what a serving is), and Trader Joe's no fat vanilla greek yogurt, layered. Or muffins for breakfast.

Lunch varies, sometimes hummus and pita chips, sometimes chicken Caesar salads with a handful of cooked whole wheat pasta thrown in. Last night I made a fried (with cooking spray) egg white with leftover herbs I had in my fridge mixed in. Put some Kraft mayo made with olive oil on two pieces of whole wheat bread and put the egg in between. Put it in the fridge and it's like an egg salad sandwich without the work. Just ate some carrots or other veggies on the side.

Dinner also varies. Sometimes salmon, sometimes just a big bowl of (healthy) cereal with almond milk (I LOVE almond milk, I stay away from any and all soy whenever I can though), it really just depends.

I love Trader Joe's lime popsicles and eat those whenever I want a snack. Or a small handful of Trader Joe's dark chocolate covered espresso beans (satisfies my sweet tooth and I never want more than just a few).

I love just about any and all vegetables roasted :lovestruc.

I like hummus from Trader Joes, with carrot and pea pod dippers.

I also like whole wheat couscous. I make it like a pasta salad, with fat free feta cheese, red onion, tomatoes, garbanzo beans and capers. I add a fat free vinegarette. It;s really good.

Counting calories doesn't work for me....

But watching what I eat--which ultimately does restrict calories to some extent, helps more.

So I follow the South Beach Diet principles (when not pregnant....when pregnant, too many food aversions to stick to it)....

This includes upping veggies, sticking to whole grains (more filling, so you'll eat less), more proteins, and lower fat items. Basically--the low glycemic foods.

In the end, it does reduce my caloric intake, but I don't have to worry about confining to a particular number.

For me--this works BEAUTIFULLY and is consistent with how I like to eat.

And after some time on it--I'm sugar purged and can actually do the "enjoy the "yummy" stuff in moderation".

It does take some getting used to especially if you are sugar/carb addicted.

My menus are quite similar to many posted here.

where do you get your high fiber tortillas?

In the mexican food section at Kroger. I don't know if anyone else carries them or not, I haven't looked. A friend told me about them recently. I was like "What else aren't you telling me!?!" they are good!

Sadly, I developed an inability to digest almonds.I used to LOVE them.
