What do you drink at restaurants?

Non-alcoholic that is. From our last visit I seem to remember that the cheapest drinks were soft drinks like Coca Cola and Fanta, they often came with a free refill. Orange juices and water on the other hand, cost a lot more, and had no refills. I presume it is still so.
We tend to get fed up with all the sweet stuff after a while, and I am just curious to know if there are other drinks that can be ordered, or is the cheapest alternative always the soft drinks?

Unsweetened iced tea. I don't care for carbonated beverages and I prefer to control the sweetness in my drinks. Free refills and costs the same as soda but usually only available in TS locations.

You can't get a free refill on a glass of water? :guilty: Geez, even Starbucks has free water...and I know you can get free cups of water from CS restaurants...

This just had me realize that we probably never ordered a glass of water, we always had a bottle. And they did not come cheap!
Is it ok to order just water when at restaurants, and not the fancy bottled water they have in the menu?

It's okay to order a glass of ice water with your meal. Many people prefer water to any other beverage when they are dining. Just make sure that you specify that you do not want bottled water or sparkling water. You just want "tap" water, which is still filtered water.

I always drink what I drink at home, a glass of water. I actually specify just a glass, not a bottle.... once in a while unsweetened ice tea on a hot day......

I don't actually drink with my meals (Gastric bypass surgery), but I always order a glass of water anyway so that I don't have to explain to the waiter every meal why I don't want a beverage, haha. I tried just saying "no beverage, thank you" a few times in the beginning, but waiters think that is SO weird and always ask questions, so now I just order water and don't drink it. Glad to know that it is as free in Disney as anywhere else! Phew!!

EDIT: the water doesn't get wasted, don't worry - my husband generally drinks his water AND mine! :thumbsup2

I don't think I've ever ordered bottle or sparkling water! They always seem overpriced. If you just ask for water, they will bring you free "tap" water. Some TS will ask if you were interested in bottled or sparkling water.

If my mom joins us for meals, she'll ask for hot tea (YES! even in the middle of summer :). That seems to be free refills at most TS.

A glass of water. I drink this at home and at restaurants at home. I drink about a gallon of water a day.

I'm not bothered by most tap water.

If I don't want a coke I get water. Usually I get both with a meal. They will typically ask if you want tap water or bottled water.

I drink water. I'm usually fine with tap water, but I'm a big time water drinker. I always have it with me and like it ice cold (the hydro flask was a life changer lol). Probably my biggest gripe is that unless you're at a sit down restaurant the free water comes in a cup the size of a thimble. I usually pay for a soda just so I can have a human sized cup of water.

Based on your avatar, are you from Norway? Here in the USA, it's universal that restaurants will serve tap water for free. Unlike most of Europe where, if you ask for water, they charge you for a large bottle. At Disney World, you can get a cup of ice water for free everywhere they have cups. Bottled water is expensive, but a cup of tap water is always free.

You can always order a "large cup of water" and they'll give you a bigger cup. The free cup of water is not limited to the small size.

Tap water, iced tea, sparkling water sometimes when it is the liter size and sharing with specific people who like to drink it.

Coffee and juice with the morning buffets. Usually part of the meal.

Press pots of coffee when I can get them.

I guess I haven't been to the same places you have. Both inside and outside Disney. The first thing I ask when I see the thimble is "is it possible to get a larger cup, please?" The standard response is "I'd have to charge you for it" so I pay because it gets me what I want.

I know a lot of places with free refills or self-serve do this to prevent people from ordering free water and then getting soda or tea. I get it, it just annoys me especially since I'm buying a meal and they give free refills because soda is so cheap so how many water scammers are there really?

I've never had this happen. Wow. Really...water scammers. lol

I always get the same size cup as everyone else at the table who orders soda or lemonade.
