I just got finished reading the magical moment post.

I was wondering what do you do to keep the magic going for CM's and other families?

I know that DH & I always take turns getting a seat early for parades. We always keep a little extra space (there is only myself, DH & DD) for someone with a small child who can't find a spot.

Do the same to see a little one's face light up as parade goes by is priceless and what Disney Magic is all about.:sunny:

I always offer to take photos of families so that the entire family can be in at least one photo.

It's doesn't surprise me that you would be kind enough to save a little space for someone with a small child, Kathy, you are a very thoughtful person.

Thanks you are so nice. I didn't think about the picture taking. I do that every where. Often people are shocked that you are offering.

Being that we only travel as the two of us, it's next to impossible to get photos of us together. So, I always offer to take pictures of others together. Luckily, others are willing to return the favor. I love doing it too. It's an easy way to spread a little pixie dust. Mickey

Whenever DH and I are at Boardwalk alone, we always compete each other in those carnival games they have...anyway, whatever we win, we always give to a little boy or girl who happens to be walking by...it is amazing how their faces light up when given a stuffed Mickey Mouse! :)

I also offer to take pics of families! They really appreciate it

On occasion we end up with more fast passes than we need so I love to surprise someone waiting on a 40 minute stand by line and give them the passes. It makes their day and mine too!

There is always only two of us when we travel and its so nice when people offer to take a photograph of you both together.

I also offer to take pictures so the whole family can be in the photo. Also, I always try to give up my seat on the bus to parents with infants and small children.

just wanted to say i think this is a really great thread. i hope the posts keep coming...i'd like to get some ideas to use when we go. it's much easier to be thoughtful when you don't have to think too hard for ideas!:) lol

I've actually had two that I just loved and 2 that where given to me that I will be passing along in November!

My favorite that was group related was on the WDW resort bus on our way back to POR, a mother was on there with a child probably about 18 months/2 yo and she was just throwing a fit. You could tell the parents where beyond flustered and it was the end of a very long day. The mother and father kept apologizing to everyone and anyone. One of the mothers turned to her and said "Oh we all have NEVER been thru this before, you are officially the first family to ever have a child throw a fit on Disney bus." We all of course got it and started laughing and relating our stories of children throwing fits at some point in the trip the whole way back to the resort. When they stepped off of the bus, the father stood up, Thanked everyone on the bus and said "This is why we vacation at WDW the Guest are Outstanding." I saw them a few days later and the mother said that that officially took the 'stress' out of the rest of the trip, because she knew she had a sisterhood someplace that had been thru the same thing.

My favorite I personally got to do, was at MGM in the smoking area by Indiana Jones. There was a young couple standing there having a cigeratte trying to figure out what to do with there last 3 hours in the park. I very politely butted into there conversation and asked had they ever been to MGM before, they said No, so I proceeded to plan the rest of there night for them, and thru in Fastpass for RNR coaster, that we had not been able to use do to the ride breaking down. Including insisting that they see, Beauty and the Beast, which my husband loved so much he sat thru it twice. and Fanastamic, we saw them as we were leaving MGM and they Thanked me several times for helping them have a great evening. The gentleman said I would have never thought to sit thru Beauty and the Beast and it was great!

My favorites that where given to me by Castmembers:

My children and I where sitting waiting for the Star and Motorcade parade on the stairs at the ABC theater(?) and a wonderful castmember walked up and told us to sit on this imaginary line, little did we realize that we would be right in the heart of the action, with nothing between us and the parade, It was great.

My next one came at Epcot for the Illuminations, I walked up and asked a castmember if where we were thinking of sitting was a good seating area, he started to laugh and said only the best! It was like right at the Future World/World Showcase bridge. We sat about 10/20 feet from him. It was like an hour before Illuminations, he came over to us and asked us about our lanyard pins, and I said honestly we know nothing about them. I told him that I had been afraid to trade all day, because everytime I went to trade a castmember would say, oh I don't think you want to trade that one and I was like why? So, he totally explained the whole thing, down to how to tell which are lanyard series pins and which are not and how to tell the difference and even the mystery pin thing. He was a huge Disney fan who worked there to support his habit. The time flew by, we learned something and I finally knew which pins to trade and trade for, I ended up with a Seven dwarfs Doc pin, thanks to this wonderful Castmember.

Those are the 2 I'm passing along the next time I go. I have found the best way to get some Pixie Dust at WDW is to remember it is the most wonderful place in the world and be nice to EVERYONE and It truly comes back to you! I've started living this in my everyday life and it is amazing how much Pixie Dust I have found outside of WDW!

Sorry for such a long post, but this is my favorite postings! I could read these all day!

I buy small toys to take on vacation. I carry them around with me and hand them out to children.

Little bouncy balls are great for CMs who do some standing around... the guys at valet parking, Friendship boat captains... a Haunted Mansion CM who was doing crowd control before the parade asked for 2 more and then juggled. :) WWWD (What Would Walt Do) pins are great to hand out to CMs, too.

One of my favorite things to do has become a family tradition - I give my kids money to win stuffed animals at the Boardwalk and then we give them away to little kids who aren't having any luck winning their own.

My DH and I love to offer to take photos of entire families so they have a pic of everyone together. We found out how important that was on our honeymoon. Also, we like to simply take time to talk to the CMs and learn something about them. It can really brighten someone's day when you show an interest in them.

There have been some great ideas. I really like they everyone handled the little child on the bus.

We often give out our fass passes when we don't need them.

I found this one on our last trip.
I read on DIS to go to the dollar store and pickup glow sticks.
They came in really handy when waiting for the fireworks with the kids. It also saves from buying the expensive Disney glow things!
I threw a few extra in my backpack. As it always is, the kids seek out other kids to play with while waiting. When I handed out these glow sticks to complete stranger kids - it was as if I'd given them the best thing ever. They had a ball playing with them (my kids too) and it kept them entertained while waiting........all this pixie dust for a few dollars.

We try to make it a point to chat with CMs in World Showcase, we ask them about their home towns, how they like the US, what are their favorite items on the menu.

We often leave the parks mid day for a break, and sometimes have a bus practically to ourselves. Many of the drivers love to chat and we've heard interesting stories from many "semi-retirees" who work part time driving for WDW.

On our last trip (May 8-12, 2003), my sis and I had the best time talking to little kids on our bus rides! Sometimes it would just take showing off our pins and asking them "What's your favorite character?"...sometimes we would strike up a conversation by asking them what they planned to do for that day...sometimes all it took was a smile and a wave, but every time we would get off the bus with the magic of Disney shining in our faces! This really made our trip more magical and, I hope, enriched others as well. I think it's fun (and sometimes surprising!) for kids to realize that adults love Disney too!! ;)

:p IVY :p
