What do you do with your groceries before check-in?

Hi,

We would like to get as early a flight as possible down to WDW and we would like to buy our groceries along the way. (We plan on renting the car for one day.)

My question is: what do you do with your groceries for the week before you can move them into the kitchen. We will probably get to BCV around lunchtime, so there are 4 hours where the groceries would not be refrigerated. We also have baby milk which would need to be refrigerated ASAP. We were originally going to time the flight so we got to BCV around check-in time (just for the sake of the groceries), but if there's a way around this I'd love to know!

Also, is there a grocery store within the park and how do you get to it? Does it have a good selection?

Thanks so much

the bell man will refridge everything for you:D until your room is ready

I think the only store on property is that little gourmet pantry place at DD. It is not really a grocery store though. It looks like the store at BCV has quite a few things though. I have heard that if you place you stuff that needs refrigeration in a seperate bag, they can refrig it for you. We will be in the same boat as you, and will be getting to BCV around 12 pm. We will be doing our grocery stop on the way. I am bringing an extra duffle bag, and will put all of my non fridge stuff in that, and then put my refrig items in a grocery bag to give to bell services. Can anyone confirm that they will refrig stuff for you?

The resorts have small stores with high prices and limited selection. Goodings is probably the closest store, but they have fairly high prices. Winn-Dixie is the next closest.

If you want to stop on your way from the airport, there's a Super Target or an Albertsons on Orange Blossom Trail (which you will pass over if you take the tollway from the airport to the park). You can see the Super Target from the tollway - just take the OBT exit.

You can also ask Member Services to fax you a grocery order form and you can have things delivered right to your room - about the same prices as the stores at the resorts, but some people like the convenience.

I thought they would refrigerate our stuff too but was instead presented with grocery bags filled with room temperature food when we finally got our room. Thank heavens our room was ready early (12 noon) or we would have had to throw stuff out. As it was, a few things spoiled earlier than they should have but we got some use out of them first. I was a little ticked but didn't notice it in time to mention it to the bellhop and I just didn't bother to call and complain. There wasn't much they could do to fix the problem at that point!

I was most concerned about my potentially skunky beer. ;)

Prior to our trip to OKW this summer I asked the same ?
You need to put all refridgerator items together all freezer items together and all shelf type items together. The OKW CM were excellent - the only mistake made was by my DH - he had put the lettuce into the shelf items bag and a couple hours later "YUK!"
We stopped at the super walmart - DON'T GO THERE!!! - long long long lines at check out ! I should have listened when my fellow DVCers warned against it! I will take their advice next time:)

In May we stopped at Publix before checking into OKW. We put all our refrigerated grocery items in our styrofoam cooler. A CM took the while cooler & put it in a large commercial size refrigerator. Worked well for us!

Also, we like going to the Super Walmart on 192. WE can buy groceries, souvenirs, etc. all under one roof!
