I agree! Put all your money and credit cards in the safe each time you leave the room. You should have charging privleges on your resort room card so you shouldn't really need cash. If you have all your valuables in the safe, there won't be anything to get if you leave your purse in the room anyways!
By the way, hello from La Grange! You are not too far away from me!
Maybe I'm just too trusting but I have never locked any cash/valuables in the safe and have never had anything stolen. We've left cameras, a laptop, etc. in the room as well and never had a problem.
I really feel that the WDW resorts are very safe but if locking up your valuables makes you more secure you always have that option.
I feel more comfortable with my money/purse locked in the room (I too use the safe) than having to keep an eye on it while in the water or snoozing in the sun. We have a little soft-sided cooler for bottled water that has some pouches for paperbacks, lotions, and hidden zipper areas for room key and any minimal amount of cash. I also have one of those small plastic waterproof containers on a cord (from Blizzard Beach)...it's about the size of a pack of cigarettes for lack of better description. Just enough for key and/or money/credit card, chapstick. At the waterparks it can go right around my neck when leaving our lounge chairs.....I don't do any of the real wild slides or anything
I have a water proof container (don't remember what it's called!) that hangs around your neck that is made just for this kind of thing. There are some that are tube shaped, but my favorite one is a small rectangular shape. A little bit bigger than a credit card, I can put my most important things from my purse in it (credit cards, drivers license, cash, hotel key, locker key). I originally bought this for the beach but have used it at some hotel pools (it's great for public pools!).
I also put money, jewelry, credit cards, passports, etc. in the safe. We don't lock up the laptops though (both brand new and worth lots of money--owned by our companies), or the camera (although it's an older one and probably not worth a whole lot these days).
I have a water proof waist pack I bought at Walmart in Kissimee.Great for money, credit cards etc.To me it works better than the ones that hang around your neck
*Fantasia*
I bought my container at a beach resort gift shop. After we returned home we saw one somewhere else (but can't remember where now) that was half the price. I think it was just with the seasonal swimming items. Wish I could help more !
