What do you do with a rainy day?

Throw on some ponchos and proceed as normal.

Seriously, the best time to be in the parks is when it's rainy - wait times decrease significantly! ::yes::

This! Take ponchos and then extra ponchos, empty grocery bag for soggy stuff, towels, maybe flip flops for each family member to avoid soaked sneakers. We stay on property and take extra towels from the room (we return them of course), stroller cover/tarp...

:umbrella:

Actually, I would be more concerned about the five year old who can verbalize more than the almost two year old. For an almost two year old, the parent will be the visual stimulation. Is Mom and Dad happy? Yes! Then I'm happy.

The five year old, eh, probably not as much.

And, if I'm not mistaken, a cold is caused by bacteria, not being wet.

Being a native I know summer showers DO NOT normally cool things off- so I wouldn't worry too much about being cold and wet outside. Of course inside attractions are air conditioned but if you prepare with towels and ponchos you should be fine.:)

Do you guys know if they sell ponchos and stroller ponchos at the resort gift shops? We are staying at AoA if that matters.

Try to bring ponchos with you if you can. You should be able to pick them up cheap at the Dollar Store or WalMart.

Not sure about a stroller poncho....you may be able to find that at Babies R Us or somewhere. Or you could do what we did and just use an extra poncho or garbage bags to cover your stroller when your child is not in it.

Ponchos at Disney are way over priced.

If you are going to the parks when it rains, you just have to face the fact that you will mostly likely get wet! If your kids can handle it and aren't too miserable, it can make for a run day at the parks! It rained our first day at MK last trip and it was pretty cool. We rode Dumbo 3 times in a row, they didn't even make us exit. Rode the Barnstomer twice. It was awesome, my kids were stoked!

This.

It all depends on your attitude. If you don't let the rain bother you, it prob wont' bother them.

For what it's worth - Disney ponchos are more expensive, but they are more durable than dollar store ponchos and if they do rip, you can have them replaced for free at any store on property that sells them. Someone correct me if that is no longer the case.

Unless there is lightening you should be able to have just as much fun. Get a stroller poncho. Rain=liquid sunshine :cool1:

We were hit hard in June 2012 with all day pouring rain on one day and good portions of other days. We had a stroller cover (find one made for your stroller at babiesrus.com) with clear windows and vents for DS and a few beach towels for all of us to use to dry off. One of our best days ever! No lines and we still talk about the silly giddiness of it. We however were prepared and had ponchos and umbrellas. The ponchos left us with soggy arms and bottoms. This year we purchased clear snap down the front rain coatsw/hoods like the CM's wear. We ordered adult XS for DS8 and cut the bottom section off until it was just below his knee. We found them online from a safety supply company. We all have water friendly comfy shoes...keens, crocs, sperry flip flops, vionic flips. We also will bring a hoodie for the car, but not bring it in the park unless the temps dip to the 80's. Go, have fun, take The World by Storm!

How many days will you be there? There is no crime in taking a day off (or half a day if it won't rain all day) to recharge your batteries. This is especially true with a 2 and 5 year old. We always try to build in a "resort hopping" day, or pool day, or DTD day (or some combination of all of the above) during our trip and stay out of the parks. Our general rule for the good of the order is "one day off for every three days on". So a rainy day would simply become our off day if we had kids that young.

....before the stroller police get up in arms.... We decided before that trip that would be the last use of a stroller at a theme park for DS. We washed the seat and wiped it down and planned to pass it to a family on our last day. We were talking with a family in the elevator on one of our last days and they were making plans to go out and buy one, we told them to take ours. Pixie dust!

Grab a poncho, put it on and off to the parks! Sept-Oct is still extremely warm in Florida and even if it rains all day the temps will most likely stay very warm and humid. Attendance drops off significantly as mentioned by others and it's a great time to get on lots of attractions.

We'd carry on with our park plans with some rain gear. We always go at the end of August though, so any rain is usually heavy, but short lived. Very easy to escape from temporarily and then move on. We don't even bother with ponchos then because it's so hot and you dry out quickly once it's over.

The only time I would consider changing my plans is if I were there on a cool and rainy day during the winter. Wet I don't mind. Wet & cold, I do mind. If it was a full day rain out and I had a scheduled non park day, I would maybe go to DTD and do some bowling, see a movie, etc...
