What do you do when your memory card fills up?

I'm not sure if I'm going to have to deal with this problem or not but in case I do, what do most people do? Download to your computer, transfer to a disk somewhere at Disney (is this expensive? where can you have it done? Do the resorts have places that can do this or is it just at the parks?)
thanks!
:confused3

For us, DH bought a spare memory card before we went on our last trip...I thought we wouldn't need it....he was right! It was nice to have, wasn't that expensive. :)

This is something I'm freaking out about. I have 2 memory cards. Each is 1GB but, I'm worried that won't be enough.:worried:

That's the best and probably cheapest solution. SD cards are getting cheap. If you have a laptop, you can of course dump the photos off onto it as well.

As a side note, HP is making some really nice portable photo printers now that have a slot for your memory card and an internal hard drive. The unit can also be plugged into a TV set and you can view a slide show on the TV. I took one on my recent trip to Disney and we watched all of our photos from the day each night on the TV. Street price on those printers is around $250.

Another benefit to these printers is that I could go ahead and make prints for my son's autograph book each day instead of waiting until we got home. I think it got him more interested in autograph collecting.

I always keep a backup memory card. I burn all my pictures to a CD when I am home, but if I am close to the end of a card and won't be home for a while, I like to keep a backup card so I don't miss any good pix.

I haven't tried this yet, but I recently got a photo printer with 1.5gb of internal memory. It's light weight and small, so I am thinking of bringing it with me on my next trip, this way I can either print out photos there or save them to my printer atleast for easy printing later, and then I can just delete the photos off my camera. Photo printers are moderately pricey for a good one, but well worth it. I have an HP Photosmart 475. I love it, it prints out amazingly great quality photos. It cost around $199, I believe, which actually isn't that bad.

If you don't want to do that, try buying a memory card with as much memory as possible, maybe even two if you need it. When taking up close shots, for example, at a character meal or something, I would take the photos on a lower resolution to save more room later on for photos which require using the highest resolution.

That's an interesting idea. It negates the need to bring a laptop. If I'm reading it right, though, you need that unit in addition to an external USB drive with its own power source.

You can have your pix downloaded to CD at each of the photo shops in each of the parks. It's like $12.

I always keep a spare memory card with me-- I'm a photo fanatic and usually take lots and lots of pictures!

My father usually brings his laptop and downloads his pictures everyday (Especially when he goes alone with my mom so he can e-mail the pcitures while they're away and make me jealous!)

Her's another idea - if your card fills up, just buy another from Disney. I'm sure it's only be about a 400% markup. We learned our camera lesson last year. Our batteries died and we had to get more. We were in Epcot and purchased 4 AA batteries at the American pavilion for the rock-bottom price of $16.

We're making our first trip to WDW in March and taking two digital cameras with decent-sized cards. BUT, we wanted to be sure we wouldn't run out of storage space...SO, I went to the Apple Store and got (for $29) the iPod Camera Connector. It hooks up to either of our cameras and downloads the memory card to my iPod. It requires an iPod with color display. I have the 30GB Photo iPod and it's no problem for me to keep 3 or 4 MB of free space for photos. The cool thing is, once they're downloaded to your iPod, you can view them in a slideshow right on your iPod screen!

I always bring my laptop to download the pictures into. I would easily fill two cards in a 8 day trip. :teeth:

go through and look at the pictures and delete the one's you don't want every night. It frees up a surprising amount of space.

I have an iPod photo as well. We bought a non-iPod photo transfer thingy. I couldn't view the photos on my iPod, but they were there.

This is what we do. We bring the cord to connect the camera to the tv, and we edit out the crummy pics right then. Plus, we have a memory card the biggest memory card we could buy! :thumbsup2

I also bought an ipod with a camera connector, for downloading my memory card into, last year I took my laptop and was worried about transporting it the whole time I was there....on the plane, through the airport etc....so I think the ipod will be well worth it.

www.inoi.com/English/hd182.aspv we used on of these with 2 512 mb memory cards and with that we took almost 4000 pictures during christmas. we got it at best buy and it was worth it. it holds up to 20 gigabytes of pictures. or 28000 low quality pictures. then when you get home i put all of the pictures on my computer. we love it and will use it again when we go kid free in oct 06.

It was great to put all of our pictures from our camera to our computer every day. DH loves to take pictures and we have about 100 pics of the castle trying to get the perfect picture!

Also, like having laptop for movies on planes for dd's and it was nice to have at night if we wanted to watch a movie or needed something like baby einstein to help wind down the kiddos.
