Do you have a contract?
How do you collect pmt?
Do you book ADR's?
I never planned on renting out points but my DB backed out on his trip and the points were borrowed and have to be uses ASAP so i am having to learn this really fast, Any help would be appreciated.

I would start by reading the stickies @ the top of the Rent/Trade board.

But no I would never make ADRs for anyone - they can do that themselves.

DVC requires that you use a contact. That language is in the Public Offering Statement. You can find a few on the DIS. Get full payment to change the name on the reservation. Don't change the name until you get payment. Then call MS (they are open seven days a week from 9-5 (Eastern Time) and tell them you are renting the reservation. If they give you any grief (and they will), ask to speak to a supervisor. Renting is legal, just commercial renting is illegal.

By the way, tell your brother that that was strike one and he is out. No more reservations for him. He can pay for his own.

I have not rented out points but I have transferred them to fellow members. You won't be able to do that though if they are borrowed points that have to be used immediately. For future reference though, I'd always transfer rather then rent. Much easier, I think.

Is there really language to use in a required contract for renting points? That's the first time I've ever read that here at the DIS.

Yes, it is in the Public Offering Statement. The POS also states no compensation for transfering points.

We use a contract, even with the closest of friends. It assures that everyone is aware of the transaction details and can't say, "I didn't know about that."

We use PayPal for getting payments.

We don't make ADR's for anyone. They can go online or call Disney directly to make their own ADR's. You have to decide if you want to deal with adding the dining plan for them. If so, you'll have to get money for that, usually in the form of a pre-paid Visa or Mastercard. Get the cc number from the renter & then call MS with that number.

just an fyi, we rented our points last year and had no issues w/our renters however, i was very nervous after i learned here on disboards that if your renter trashes the room, leaves any unpaid bill, etc the DVC owner can be held responsible for the charges.
needless to say when i made my resv this year, i breathed a sigh of relief that i didn't have any unpaid charges (you don't always know until you go to book a room yourself apparently)
this is why a transfer to another member is much safer for you.
if you do rent, i found the contract online here i think on the renting board. i did have the person sign it and send it back to me but again i got lucky that i happened to get a reputable person to rent to.
also it does take quite a lot of effort as you have people emailing you to check on dates and even if the dates are open, they don't always get back to you. I think there is a lot of people just checking out their options that aren't truly serious about renting points. it's a somewhat time consuming process to rent the points out

I wouldn't check availability until after the person read my contract. That seemed to weed out alot of the people who weren't serious. Before I started doing that, people would ask me to check dates and then never get back to me or get back to me a week later and say, "Oh, I already rented from someone else".

that is a very smart idea!
