Do you go into the parks immediately or just make an easy day of it?? :)
Normally, we stay at a campsite at FW and after we check in, we spend some time getting the camper set up. This year, we are splurging and staying in a cabin!! We're staying for 2 weeks this time :cool1: so we really don't have to rush around. I was thinking with these new tickets, we'll have to activate them so maybe once we settle in, we should get that taken care of.

When you check in, do you 'drop and run' or just relax at the hotel??

We typically relax and find somewhere to eat. I would like to go out to the parks when we first get there this Sunday, though, because I figure everyone will be finding a place to watch the Super Bowl and maybe the parks will not be too crazy. (We are going to watch the Super Bowl in our room at POFQ, so no fighting crowds)

Well, since we have a 10.5 hr drive, we relax, Our kids usually find the pool and hang out,we need a good 2 hr nap! :goodvibes Usually, check out the area,(since we stay at timeshares)do the dinner thing, and drive around and look at a few shops. Basically, chill, and most definetly, EARLY to bed, cuz I am UP at the crack of dawn when it comes to Disney World! :moped:

In the past we would check in, get some groceries to stock the fridge and go to Chef Mickey's for dinner and watch the FW from the POLY.

This time we only stayed 5 nights. With the MYW passes it was only a few dollars more to get a 6 day pass, so we hit the parks our first and last day. We got a lot done our first day. We arrived at MK at 3:15 and sat down on the curb on the side of the emporium facing the fire station. The parade came buy a few minutes later. We went back to frontierland and rode splash mtn and BTMRR. We got something to eat and went on haunted mansion. Went to fantasyland and rode the carousel, snow white and teacups. Then we went over to tomorrowland and rode space mountain. Then we got a spot for spectromangic and watched wishes. Obviously the crowds were very light so we were able to cover a lot of ground. Not the most relaxing way to start out but we never would have seen everything want to see otherwise.

Since you have two weeks, I would not rush to go to the parks on your first day.

We usually hit the ground running. The kids are so excited to get there. I think they would be disappointed if they couldnt go to one of the parks right away. Usually it is mgm to go on tot and rnr.

:cool1:

After drivng from MA we all settle in and see what's do around the resort!

We have 10 days so it's not rushing around.

First night we go to DD and people watch and have our hot fudge sundae
at Ghardelli's!
(12 days and counting) :teeth:

After all this cold weather, I honestly think no matter how chilly it is when we check in this time-I am heading right to the POOL! :cheer2:

12 days and counting....

Happy Trips To All!!!!! :sunny:

not sure when we check into the 1st resort - Pop Century - just made flight reservations and wont be landing in Orlando until 209pm - we usually go for a PS dinner somewhere - any suggestions?
the day we check into WL we'll go to MK
the day we check into BCV we'll go to Epcot

1) We typically semi-veg the first day.
2) If the grandkids are there, all bets are off and it is a park day.
2) If we get there prior to the grandkids, we like to
. . . visit Downtown Disney (Marketplace)
. . . relax around the resort pool
. . . occasionally take in the Afternoon Tea at the Grand Floridian
. . . have a leisurely dinner somewhere

NOTE: DUring EVERY visit we do the Afternoon Tea. Sometimes we use it as a starter to the trip to wind down from the arrival journey, and sometimes we use it mid-trip to wind down from the rush-rush of WDW.

We usually drive from Michigan. So on our first day, we usually stop at Walmart off of Osceola Parkway to load up on snacks and beverages. Then we check-in, check out the hotel gift shops, and grab a bite to eat at the food court. Then we go to DTD and look at all the things we want to buy at the Art of Disney. Then we go back to our room, swim if it is warm enough, then crash out from the long drive. But this year, this all might change because I've decided(DH ecided, cuz he does 90% of the driving) to get up the courage to fly. So we'll see how much that changes our routine.

In the past we would land, transfer, check-in, and hit the parks. Our last trip we arrived at WDW checked-in and got settled in to our room and then went to Downtown shopped and ate dinner. Then the next morning we hit the parks running.

We usually head over to a park.

We never go hard core or comando through the parks. So even a day in the park is nice and relaxing for us.

This trip we land about 12:30pm & we hope to be in Epcot by about 4:30pm.

I just can't wait to get in a park & walking around!

I would prefer to relax. After traveling, my family needs time to wind down and relax. Maybe check out Downtown Disney and eat at a nice restraunt.
We don't have annual or seasonal passes so I would also hate to use a day on our passes.

We plan on relaxing by the pool and then going to do the campfire at Ft. Wilderness. You guys will already be there, so that will be perfect. Relax, get settled in, swim, let the kids play on the playground, go to the petting zoo, etc. Or if you jsut want to do something, go to Downtown Disney. We plan on doing that on our last day.

:moped: We live in Louisiana so it is about an 11 hour drive for us. We usually get up early and leave the house about 5:00 a.m. and make it to Hwy 192 in Kissimme by 5:30 p.m. We don't want to wastea night paying for a WDW resort so we usually find a hotel on 192 and check in then go grab dinner. We usually turn in early so we can get up early the next morning and get to our Disney hotel by 7:00 a.m. for an early check-in. We then hit the food court grab a quick breakfast and head of to ::MickeyMo Magic Kingdom ::MinnieMo

We come from the West coast so we're super tired by the time we get to WDW. (we leave late at night 8-9pm and don't get there until 6:30 am eastern time which is 3:30 am our time! ) I get major jetlag and the worst headaches so I like to sleep and relax. Then we walk around our resort, the GF and I love checking out other resorts. :flower: We also like to go to Downtown Disney and shop! Oh and you can't forget a ride on the monorail! :wizard:

We always go to DTD. Plenty of shopping, browsing & people watching to be done there. Later in the evening we usually go to Cirque du Soleil except this year we arrive on a Sunday so it's not possible. We're doing Cirque on our last full day there.

our first trip we grabbed a bite at our resort food court and hopped over to Epcot.

Our second trip we did basically the same thing, food court, bee line for Mission Space and we added reservations at The Rose and Crown (ironically because someone posted the same type of thread last year and said thats what their family does)
after taking in some fun attractions in no particular order we strolled along Rose Walk (Flower & Garden Show) and headed to Rose and Crown. A great beginning to our trip!!

Im still deciding on what to do this year. Since we dont need a full day to do AK I think we might head over there, but I haven't decided where to have our dinner yet.

We have a short flight, we leave the house around 5am and arrive in Orlando around 10ish so its close to lunch time when we get to the resort. Where we check our bags, change, put on sun screen and GO HAVE FUN!!

FunkBucket looks like your trip is getting VERY close!

We have made it a tradition now and we do this every time we go...

we check in (since we normally arrive late in the afternoon around 2 or 3)...get settled...clean up a bit ..then go to the boardwalk and have dinner at ESPN Zone.. (dh's fav spot) ..after dinner we walk the boardwalk ..people watch...maybe buy dessert from the bakery... the boardwalk is beautiful at night.. :teeth:

I can't wait to go again...I'm getting all excited just thinking about it :Pinkbounc

We drive about 12 hours leaving on a Firday night getting there about 8 or 9 in the morning, we then go to Sea World for the day and when we leave there go to our room and check in and get something to eat at the resort, take a shower, and get some sleep! The next morning we're ready for a day of fun! :earsboy:
