What do you do the day you check in?

i never go to wdw the day i check in, for some reason i feel i am missing out if i am not there for an entire day, so i take it easy and do something like old town, go get groceries or one time we went to seaworld for a little while

Lest year, we checked in at about 2pm, and explored the resort for a little bit. Then we swam for a couple of hours while DH and DMom had a cocktail. In the evening, we took the boat to DTD, walked around, and ate at Earl of Sandwich.

This year, we plan to leave Charlotte at 3:30 am and check into Pop at around 1:00 or so- we will probably look around the resort, swim for a while, then head over to Epcot for dinner and Illuminations.

Just relax in the room for a bit and then go to DTD and get something to eat and do a bit of shopping.

When we got to POR last september, we showered, changed...and went "property touring". By that I mean we took the bus to MK, got on the monorail and stopped at CR, Poly and GF. Then took the boat from GF back to MK and hopped our bus back to POR.

I wanted to show BF a lot of the different resorts and such and since we weren't using "park day" on that arrival day, that's what we did. It was tons of fun and we had a blast!

We don't ever got to the parks the first day. We drive and usually arrive around 2:00-3:00 PM. We are all very early-to-bed-early-to-rise, so spending the money for the first evening's tickets doesn't make sense. We check in and always love exporing the resort! Dh usually has to lie on the bed and de-stress after driving with the kids, LOL. If it is nice weather, we hop in the pool. Early dinner, early bed, EARLY MK in the morning!

Our first day isn't really our first day. Last year we stayed at HRH for three nights and this year we're staying at the Nick Hotel for 2 nights. We have the towncar pick us up really early ( 7 am) on our first WDW day, check into the hotel and head straight for the MK. We stay at GF so we're just a monorail stop away. Usually room isn't ready (although it was last year) so we just stay at MK until it's ready, unpack, swim and rest. First night we always do LTT, watch the parade and head back to the hotel to watch the fireworks and then collapse!

Sorry Bobb g, it usually takes us a total of 18 hours. We live real close to Ann Arbor. We do the longer drive the first day. We stop in Tifton, GA.,spend the night, get up early and only have a 4 hour drive.

Water Parks

Thats an interesting choice. Where do you come in from and what time do you normally arrive? Which WP do you like to do on the day you arrive?

Well we leave (try To !!) at 2pm then drive straight thru. We stop at Krispy Kream in Winter Park off rt 4 for freash cooked donuts , then pull into Disney about 9:30. Check in and off to the pool. When the room is ready unpack and then a walk on the broadwalk. That night we go off property for dinner at PF Changs, then back for a walk in EPCOT. The next day off to the parks !!!

Depends on what time we get there. If it's early morning, we hit the parks, if not, we wait til the next day to hit the parks and we usually just use the resort pool then find a good Disney restaurant at one of the resorts for dinner.
Hopefully Boma...it's my favorite and I like to sit outside by the fire afterward and maybe see animals with the special nightvision binoculars.

:)

On the day that I check in, I try to do as much as possible, no matter how long my length of stay is. I usually get a flight out of NY in the morning so that I can arrive in Orland by late morning, early afternoon depending on the departure time. Once I get to Orlando, I take the shuttle to whatever resort I'm staying at. If my room is ready, I check it out and do some minor unpacking. Then, it's off to Magic Kingdom (I don't feel like I'm in WDW until I'm on Main Street, USA, looking at Cinderella's Castle). I might check out the resort a little bit, too, if it's early afternoon and I know my room will be ready shortly. If the room isn't ready, I head to Magic Kingdom or check out the resort a little.

I don't care if I've been up since 4 A.M., I want to get as much out of my vacation as possible, so the first day is important, too.

We fly down from Syracuse's Hancock airport on TMA at about 7AM and arrive at Orlando-Sanford Airport 9:30-10AM. We go get our rental car, carry the luggage, and then lock and load!

It takes about an hour to get to WDW from the airport. We go to our hotel room on the Disney Property which is usually OKW :goodvibes but we can't actually go into our room until 3PM. So we check-in and then run back out to the car...there we all change out of our travel clothes and into our snazy Disney outfits for the day!!! Then we're off to the MAGIC KINGDOM princess: where we stay unti about 6PM. Then we go shopping at Goodings! :teeth: oo how i love Goodings :cheer2:

that's our traditional first day
