We are doing the three day this weekend and I just checked the weather forecast. Chance of storms everywhere. What do you do if it rains? I still intend to have a wonderful time, just looking for some tips!

When we were on the eastern last year it was pouring at St. Thomas, we were booked to do the St. John 5 star snorkle and I was upset thinking the rain would ruin it. Our guide said to think of it as liquid sunshine, we were going to be wet snorkling anyhow. We went and had a great time. The rain ended part way through the trip (tropical storms are usually short) and it really was no big deal.

As long as it isn't thunderstorms I would swim, walk laps around the deck, make an appointment at the spa, listen to the rain from my veranda while snacking from room service. Then there are always the shows....

Send the kid to the Lab or movies and have some "leisure time" with DH

We were on the Eastern cruise last year and we had rain on one of our sea days. They announced that they were adding inside activities like Toy Story at the Walt Disney Theater.

If rain doesn't stop you at WDW (it's fun to be among the sea of yellow) then it shouldn't stop you on the cruise. Bring umbrellas and such, and continue to have a great time!

When we go to an amusement part, we have the philosophy that if it rains, "every ride's a water ride!". We all learned a long time ago that we don't melt.

It rained when we were in Grand Cayman - first while we were snorkeling: it felt like someone was tickling my back and it looked really neat hitting the water. Later while we were walking around in the town - after first trying to leap between overhangs, kids and I looked at each other and said "every ride's a water ride!" and just enjoyed it.

If you really must, take one of those 99 cent folded up rain covers that you throw away after one use.

We just got back from the 9/5/02 Wonder trip and it rained in Nassau and on Castaway Cay. Don't worry there is still plenty to do, on the ship and off. When we got to Nassau it was overcast and looked like it was going to rain at any time. It held off until we got back from our snorkeling trip and then the skies let loose. It was raining cats, dogs, horses, and cows. So we went to lunch and afterwards it was still raining, then we went to see the Island Magic show, and it was still raining. At this point we just figured we would get wet. As we were leaving the ship they were handing out the rain ponchos. By the time we walked into town and had the girls hair braided, the rain had stopped. On Castawat Cay it rained off and on for most of the day. It didn't stop us from swimming, snorkeling and playing in the sand. No sooner than it would start raining, it would stop. But around 2:00 it started thundering and lightning. Everyone was chased out of the water and there was a mass exodus for the boat. We ended up taking cover in the First Aid Station for about 15 minutes. When it finally did stop storming we went back to the ship in time to see the Disney Dreams show. It was kind of nice to see the show in the afternoon, then we had plenty of time that evening for everything else you want to do on the last night on board. All-in-all having rain was not a big deal, we still had a great time.

Tweidner-
Wait a minute now, did you say they were handing out rain ponchos? As in not selling but handing? I can see it now - a whole new category for the collectors!:jester:

Forgive me it has been a long day and I think I'm getting a little bit silly!

ROFL .... my answer was going to be "you get wet!!"
It rained at Castaway for a little bit on 9/3 when we were there and it turned out to be refreshing.
It could pour for all I care since I would be getting into the water anyway..... just as long as there is not flashes of lightning!!
It may rain one day and be bright and sunny the next you never know. Technically more than one day in the sun and your body turns into a French Fry!!! It always amazes me to see how red some people get and then next time you see them they have a different bathing suit on and you can see the burn lines from the other style suit. It makes my skin hurt when I look at them. I got the sunburn real bad on my 1st Disney Cruise back in 1998 when we snorkeled two days in a row with no sunscreen.... talk about ignorant !!! We'll never do that again. I remember the last morning of the cruise I could barely sit down the backs of my legs were so sore. The ride home was unpleasant to say the least!

Sept 19 cruiser. Hope to see you there.

Yes, Deb, DCL was handing out free ponchos. The funny thing is I brought along the $5 ones we purchased at Disney World the last time we were there. Needless to say I got new ones. So the next time we go to Disney World I won't be buying. We are completely stocked.
