What do you do for your anniversary ?

We started out going on a little trip for a long weekend. Then the kids came along and it was hard to plan something. Now we try to go out to dinner, and exchange gifts - sometimes extravagant, sometimes not. We celebrated our 10th with a trip to Las Vegas. We don't have any plans for our 15th yet.

My birthday is August 31, DH's birthday is Sept 7, and our anniversary is Sept 10! We usually try to do something kinda big to celebrate all three...but more for our anniversary than the birthdays. The first year, we ended up in Kansas City at a Chiefs game (DH is HUGE Chiefs fan!). The second year...I think we ended up just going to dinner and then made a last minute trip to a concert a few hours from here. And then last year, we took a long weekend and ended up on a semi-last minute trip to WDW. We just couldn't pass up the free dining package! While there, we each chose a restaurant...one for my b-day, one for his, then one for our anniversary. Since that was a little before our actual anniversary, we did go out to dinner on the actual day here at home. We went to the Melting Pot...a fondue restaurant in case you're not familiar.

This year...any extra money is going towards our adoption fund. I don't expect to be going out of town...but we'll probably end up back at the Melting Pot...just depends on the funds we have available at the time!

And no...we don't usually exchange gifts...maybe a card...but nothing else right now.

Congrats!!

My 2 year wedding anniversary is the end of this month (that's where the 228 in my name comes from). My husband is actually taking the week off :) The weekend before we are driving up to Pigeon Forge to have breakfast at the Apple Barn. The rest of the week we are going to do whatever we decide to do and just spend some quality time together. I can't wait!!! :)

ETA: This year, on the the actual day of our anniversary, we are going to call and make our reservations for our November WDW trip :)

Congratulations the date 2-28 has been very good for us (30Years). We love Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg we honeymooned there in 1976 :sunny:

dh and i always go out for dinner. we don't exchange gifts. this year will be our 5th and i would like to do something special, but finances will probably be tight, so I doubt we will.

Or first we bought our house, our tenth we went to Disney (3 weeks ago). :cheer2:

DH and I were married November 7, 1975 - lots of anniversaries! In the early years we always included romance - think flowers, champagne, evening dress! Then for several years we always went away for a long weekend - B&B within a few hours drive; the beach; mountain retreats etc. For years 15, 20 and 30 we had big major celebrations with lots of family and friends invited to a party. Our 25th anniversary was spent in Disney World - and a few others too - the Food and Wine Festival is a great place to spend a special occasion!

Seems like dinner and WDW take the majority. We've never been to WDW and we will be moving about an hour away from there, maybe WDW is a good idea. I guess I should start reading the other forums so I can learn about the good places to eat and get an adr.

We're celebrating our 6th anniversary Friday. Our wedding was very small, we went to a family owned Italian restaurant for a huge dinner afterwards, so our dinner plans each year are pretty much a no brainer. We don't buy gifts but usually splurge on a nice bottle of wine. This year we'll be drinking the "Happiest Celebration on Earth" we bought at the Food & Wine Fest.
We went to WDW for our honeymoon and are heading there Saturday.

When we went in 2004 it was our 10th anniversary. I ordered personlized t-shirts from the Disney Catalog. Ours said "We are celebrating our 10th anniversary at WDW on Sept 24, 2004." Our daughter's t-shirts said "We are celebrating mommy and daddy's 10th anniversary at WDW on Sept. 24, 2004". We also had dinner at Ton'y Restaurant and I prearranged for a cake to be delivered to our table. Just a little something to commemorate our 10 years. Happy Anniversary!!!

Most years, we travel on our anniversary. We use it as a time to take a little vacation and reconnect. Often we went to check out another small Florida town for a weekend, exploring the area's history. A few years, like this one, Disney is the destination, or we took a big road trip that doubled as a vacation...Here's our list, since you're moving to FL:

1 Key West
2 St. Augustine
3 Mount Dora
4 Hawaii
5 Chalette Suzanne in Central Florida
6 Micanopy & Gainesville
7 Disney
8 South Beach
9 Disney
10 New Orleans
11 Cruise to Bahamas
12 New Orleans
13 New York City
14 Dinner in downtown Fort Lauderdale (DS was only two months old, and we didn't want to leave him)
15 Coral Gables
16 Vero Beach
17 Boca Raton and dinner at La Vieille Maison where we got engaged
18 We're going to Disney World!

Hope these give you some ideas!

Just celebrated our 16th anniversary on Feb. 3rd. We also went to WDW, usually go every year, just the two of us. We like to do things we can't do with the kids or they would get bored doing. This year, we spent the entire day Saturday at DTD just looking in shops and seeing movies. Then Sunday, we did the Behind the Seeds tour at the Land (loved it, would highly recommend it) and eating at Victoria and Albert's. Love, love, love going there every year. Had a great time.

Hope you find something really special for the two of y'all.

Congratulations!! :cheer2:

We're yet another 2-28 anniversary! LindsayDunn228, we're also celebrating our 2nd anniversary this year. Congrats to you and to indigoxtreme!

We just go out and have a nice dinner.

My grandfather started a tradition with my grandmother -- on each anniversary he gave her one red rose for each year they had been married. I thought it was quite romantic -- and being as I couldn't think of anything original myself, I adopted the same tradition. Each year, no matter where we've been my wife has gotten her roses. The only year where I deviated from the tradition was on our 10th anniversary. That year, our special day fell while I was out of town working at a convention. Of all years to miss, I was away for the 10th! To make it up to her I devised a plan... The florist was great and pulled up to my wife's office to deliver the roses. He carried in the vase and my wife thanked him, but also remarked that these roses couldn't be hers as there were 12 and she was only supposed to get 10 roses that year. Her co-workers tell me the delivery guy's response was, "I don't know lady, but I've got another nine dozen for you in the van!" Fortunately, one of her coworkers had a camera and got a picture of my wife with all the flowers. She says it didn't completely make up for me not being there, but it was a wonderful surprise.
