I've realized how easy it is to let worry/work/kids activities take over my focus and am trying to remember FUN again. what do you do for fun? not big things like vacations, but every day things, or weekend things.

Turn the tv off, turn the radio/ipod on and just read a good book

Going to the movies AND having popcorn and cherry coke

Walk on the riverside at twilight or nighttime

Dream up vacations and do some research even if I know we aren't going anytime soon

Sleep in our very comfortable bed with very comfortable sheets

Get a pedicure/manicure

Walk around the mall and just window/people shop

Treat myself to a guilty pleasure like stone cold creamry or a cupcake place

Sit on the deck and just be

Drive with the windows down and the music up

Alot of these I do for fun but I do them as a way to destress too.

On Tuesdays I teach cake decorating at Michael's craft store

On Wednesdays I have praise band and Christmas Cantata practice at Church

On Fridays if it's warm enough and dry we try to go to the Drive in

On Saturday mornings we might go to yard sales or my mom and I might go thrift store shopping

I also love to read so I do a lot of that in my spare time

I read, go geocaching, listen to 1940s music, juggle, practice musical instruments, surf the internet, watch movies/TV, take my dogs for walks and play video games. (Most of these I do with my family, but I also do them alone.)

We have a 'feast' in the family room with a movie (happy meal and thai food take out)

Family pizza night (DD makes a mini pizza and DH/I make a big person pizza)

Get discounted museum passes the library

We go to my parents and play cards, let DD pick out movies from library or Redbox for the night

Here is one my mom and I do when my Dad is out of town and DH is traveling. We open a bottle of wine and watch the Disney planning DVD! :rotfl:

On my own...

I love to read, so if I'm alone, that is often what I do.

I also am a bit of a gym rat - love to steal away for a couple of hours for a great workout + yoga class.

With the family...weather permitting, we often take bike rides, go on hikes, hit the beach.

With my husband...we are 'foodies' so we love to go out to eat, or stay in and make elaborate dinners. We also entertain a lot, so weekends are often about prepping for a night of company (that is fun for us, though...even though it is work).

My normal do for me time is reading and watching a movie I like. Long, hot bubble baths are also at the top of my time list.

When we don't have a lot of money, but need to get out of the house before it closes in on us, we grab my camera, jump in the car and just drive. We'll pass the camera around the car and whoever has it takes pictures of what ever strikes their fancy. The one time, it turned into a 5 hour, 150+ mile trip, but we sure had a lot of fun.

The one outta the norm that I am doing this year is, I am taking a Tap class at the dance studio DD goes to. I tapped years ago and when they offered an adult class this year, I thought what the heck. It is a lot of fun. One of the other moms, who I happen to have gone to high school with and is a teacher at my kids school and her girls tap with my daughter, is also in the class. All of our girls laughed at the though of their moms "tap dancing". They weren't laughing after the first class and saw that we had already put together the first six 8 counts of our routine.

I also am a bit of a gym rat - love to steal away for a couple of hours for a great workout + yoga class.

Me 2! I used to do a cycling class (taking a break at the moment), I also like yoga and pilates. I train for/run races whenever I get the chance. I like to get out and go for a nice long run on Saturdays (and listen to Disney podcasts). And read, listen to music, watch tv, shopping, get a manicure/pedicure.

This is perfect weather for a relaxing foliage drive and family picnic

Craft fairs are big here this time of season

Our local pumpkin farms always offer hay rides, animals to pet, with baked goods and apple cider this time of year, fun for families or in our case grands :lovestruc

Volunteering a couple hrs a weeks while kiddies are in school can be quite beneficial

DH & I enjoy thrift shopping, as we never know what goodies we might find

One evening let the kids make pizza and rent a fun movie

I also enjoy getting lost in a good book, w/herbal tea/silk pj's/recliner, when I find time

A simple walk thru our small neighborhood enjoying the nice fall weather is quite the picker upper for me
and if weather does not permit I do my thread mill while listening to my fave tunes.

Have fun baking and testing out treats with kiddies, in my case our grands :cloud9:

There is always the local mall to browse

A family adventure to an IMAX offering 3D movie is great

Can you join a club of interest, for us our Senior club offers activities, luncheons, trips, plays, etc.

DH and I enjoy our weekly date night, not sure if that's an option for you

I joined several web sites offering hotel/trip specials, as we always enjoy having something on the back burner to plan and anticipate

I remember those days well when family obligations seem to rule, so hope you find some of our suggestions interesting and fun! :goodvibes

Fun... Hmm...I don't have much time lately, but here are some things I do:

- right now reading anything not school related is fun and a luxury.
- I'm an amateur genealogist, so checking out old graveyards is fun for me
- museums
- tour local breweries and vineyards
- cooking
- karaoke with friends
- my friend is a stand up comedian, so I like to go his shows when I can
- during the fall I love to check out local apple orchards
- hiking/ bird watching
- Wii
- exploring local historical sites
- I actually have fun playing tourist in my local area

Honestly, you are going to think, "How can THAT be fun," but for me, it is so relaxing and something I look forward to on Friday's.

I get home from work, put on comfy sweatpants and a t-shirt, turn on something on HGTV or Sex and the City reruns in the background, and clean house. Afterwards, when everything is clean and fresh, I can really enjoy my home. I take a long, hot shower in my sparkling clean shower, I curl up with a good book in my freshly cleaned sheets... BLISS!

I really enjoy playing around in the garden in the summer. Just watering my flowers, picking whatever weeds might have sprouted, etc.

DH and I are crazy, but we like to take late night trips to Walmart and just browse around, looking at the crazy merchandise, the crazy people, and then we leave with two cartons of ice cream, sometimes a DVD, and we go home to have ice cream night.

Friday nights are family movie night DH and I play ticket person and candy vendor - The girls dress up purses and heels and hand us their coupons for drinks popcorn candy etc. We usually watch a Disney movei - then the kids go to bed and DH watch something.

Wednesday nights are board game nights

Saturdays are get togethers with my brother, his girlfriend and their kids - DSIL and I scrapbook, the guys play video games and the kids run wild. - includes lots of junk food

Sometimes I'll do ice cream for dinner for something fun, or desert first.

My fun might not be another person's fun but here goes. :goodvibes

- On a Saturday or Sunday when I have nothing to do, I like to stay in my PJs all day, turn my phone to silent and watch some of those crazy movies they show on Lifetime. :thumbsup2

- Grab take out, rent a movie from On Demand and just relax!

- I love to go to the library and just browse in the Biography section; some of my favorite reads are just learning about different people in history.

- Curling up on the couch with a good book and the fireplace running during those very cold Northern winter days and nights.

- Going into Christmas stores, at any time of the year. Something about Christmas music and the smells of sugar cookie candles can get me in the holiday mood any time of year.

Get a mani and/or pedi

Go to the gym and work out (I really think I want to try either boxing or kick boxing to work out frustrations. I just haven't gotten the courage yet to do it. I tend to hold it all inside and be very polite and never say a word. I think the boxing would do me good.)

I play VERY BAD tennis once a week for an hour with some friends. It is more comical than anything else.

I have lunch with my bestie once a week.

I LOVE football. (Weird for a girl I know. So I like to watch or attend Razorback football games.)

Walking outside when the weather permits.

I want to walk around a pumpkin patch. But haven't had time yet this season.

I also found that trying to do something nice, thoughtful or surprising for someone else is very energizing. So I try to do something like that once a week.

Turn the tv off, turn the radio/ipod on and just read a good book

Going to the movies AND having popcorn and coke

Walk on the riverside at twilight or nighttime

Dream up vacations and do some research even if I know we aren't going anytime soon

Sleep in our very comfortable bed with very comfortable sheets

Drive around in the clown car

Treat myself to a guilty pleasure like stone cold creamry or a cupcake place

Sit on the deck and just be

Drive with the windows down and the music up

Alot of these I do for fun but I do them as a way to destress too.

-Go to the mall

-read the DIS...hehe

-scrapbook/take pictures...I've been pretty bad at this lately, I've fallen so behind on my scrapbooking :sad2:

-we also attend a lot of sporting events...in the spring/summer it's Brewer games (we usually get a plan with 9 games and we'll attend them when they have discounts) and in the winter it's Marquette basketball since we have season tickets. :thumbsup2 I am SOOOO bummed I can't go to the tournament in WDW.

Read, read, read - and then read some more..;)

Research interesting topics on the web..

Work on my scrapbooks..

This winter I hope to be making quilts - which I have recently been spending quite a bit of time on in creating my own designs..

Bake..

Copy over recipes for my muffin recipe collection..

Copy over general recipes and file them in my file boxes..

Write very, very long letters to my many pen pals, friends, and family members..

Take photos - here in the mountains, at the lake..

Take walks on the beach - now that all of the seasonal people have left..

Edit, crop, and resize the tons of photos that I have on my computer..

Spend time on the DIS and various other message boards related to topics I'm interested in..

---------------------

That's all I can think of at the moment..:goodvibes

Every day after work, I take my dog to the park and we go for a long walk through the woods. It helps me forget about all the problems I had during the day, the stress and the things I still have to do. It really clears your head.
