To me, a quickie or "drive-by" trip to WDW is a 3 night stay with four park days. To DF, it's more like a 1 or 2 day hopper with an offsite stay somewhere in Orlando.

What do you, personally, think of as a short, but doable trip to WDW. A long weekend? Four days? One day in conjunction with business in Orlando?

Just a quick question on what people consider a "short ie: quickie" trip vs a long trip.

Speaking of long trips, I thought my 9 night, 10 day stay last year was really long.

Sooo....

What do you consider a "quick trip" and what do you consider a "long stay".

I am not creating a poll because I don't know a range of responses to put in it.

I think a huge factor is how far from Orlando you are.

We are a 6.5-hour drive away. A short trip is a long weekend - drive down Friday night after work, 2 full park days Sat/Sun, drive back/recovery Monday. When we lived further away, short trips were impossible/impractical for us.

A normal trip is a week... at least 6 park days. A long trip would be 10+ days actually at the resort (not travel days). Haven't managed to do a long trip yet.

I consider 3 full park days a quick trip that still allows me to do my favorite attractions in each of the 4 parks.

I just completed one of those with my wife last week.

A full week is a long trip for us.

I come from Wisconsin but travel twice a year or more. I would have to fly. A "quick trip" would likely be part of a longer vacation in Florida.

i consider a short trip to be...
3 nights with 2 day park hopper tickets.

for example in december 2013 we arrived around 9pm on friday the 13th, we went to HS in the morning and EPCOT in the afternoon/evening on saturday the 14th, we went to MK all day including for MVMCP on sunday the 15th, and we flew home mid day on the 16th.

i'd consider an average trip to be...
6 nights with 4 day base tickets.
i'll use last july as my example this time
we drove down from buffalo ny and did other things before the disney portion so i'll just give a run down for the disney portion.
saturday july 12th arrived to the resort around noon, relaxed and ate dinner.
sunday july 13th MK all day
monday july 14th HS until mid afternoon, DTD in the evening
tuesday july 15th EPCOT all day
wednesday july 16th relax day, went to brunch, took a nap, went to DTD in the evening
thursday july 17th MK all day
friday july 17th departed disney in the morning, went to silver springs, then drove to myrtle beach
*we try to have two p ark days, then one relax day, then two more park days but the park hours just didn't work well this time so we had to do three park days and then one relax day and then one more park day*

i'd consider a long trip to be...
8 nights with 7 day base tickets.
i did this with my BFF and her family in september 2012.
we went to MK, HS, and EPCOT 2 days each and AK 1 day.
i found it to be a bit long and really unnecessary to go to HS twice and we really didn't need two EPCOT days in my opinion.
we tried to suggest cutting a couple park days but her mom insisted we needed them. (she agreed after the fact that we really didn't)

in that situation had we only gotten 5 day tickets and went to a water park i feel like 8 nights would not have seemed too long because it would have mixed things up a bit ya know?

I live less than 3 hours away so a quick trip is leaving in the morning while eating breakfast in the car and getting home after dark. The longest I've ever stayed was 3 nights.

A short trip is 7 nights for us... but we travel from the UK so are investing 9 hours flying time plus around $4000 for the flights. People told us we were crazy for "only" doing Monday to Monday on our first trip... next year, we have a two week trip booked to get the best value out of the flights!

A short trip to me is 3 park days, doesn't matter the parks (WDW, UOR, SW). But we aren't big into non-park days. But three days is totally worth it IMO as long as the airfare isn't too crazy. The flight itself is short.

A long trip is 8-9 days. I don't see us doing those any time again soon. A week seems to be our happy spot.

We live 9 hours away. Normal trip for hubby and I is 9-10 days. Anything less than a full week, when just us, is considered a short trip. However, when you throw the teenagers in the mix, 5-6 days is perfectly fine and all they're up for. They start missing their bfs/gfs, and get sick of hanging out with their mom & stepdad.

I should add, that's 9 hours driving time. It's well under 2 hours to fly.

We live in Newfoundland, so flights take about 9-15 hours (depending upon connections) and cost about $800 per person. For us a quick trip is anything 5 days or less. Average trips run anywhere from 6 - 10 days. My preferred trip length is 7 - 8 days. Anything over 10 days is a long trip. I wouldn't even consider going for any more than two weeks.

I'm from WI, too. A quick trip to me is anything less than 4 days. A long trip is anything over 8 days.

We did a three day trip last time with the first day being rest at resort and Ohana because we had come from a tiring fmaily event in Miami. Then we had two park days. In hindsight we wished we had half a day on the rest day in the larks, leaving was too hard! For us it is too costly to go from nyc for less than 5 days, not worth it to me unless we are already in Florida like last time. Our trip this fall is nine nights, really nine days because we arrive late....sounds perfect to me but we will see!

Our quick trip was Sunday night a MNSSHP, a full day in the parks on Monday, and hitting DTD before our flight home on Tuesday evening. (We were in Orlando for the weekend for a different event, and moved over to WDW on Sunday noonish.)

DH and I did what I consider a "quick trip" for our anniversary this past March - 4 nights, was supposed to be 4 park days but turned into 3.25 due to stupid weather lol. It was definitely worth it; we got a lot done and didn't have to rush but 1) I don't think I'd want less than 4 nights (maybe 3) and 2) I missed our longer trips!

I guess I consider a week, or 7/8 nights an "average" stay and the majority of our trips are that long. What I consider (and my preference!) a long stay would be 10 nights or more. We've done a couple of them and while the kids think it's a couple nights too long, I think the 10 night stays are perfect :goodvibes

Also just an FYI, jealous of those who regularly do 2 week stays!

Anything less than 5 days is a quick trip, and I hate that because I'm taking a quick trip this June. I prefer much much longer but $ tells me no :guilty:

We live less than 2 hours from the parks, so a quick trip for us is deciding Friday night to head to a park the next day : ) We'll usually arrive at the park by 9am and leave around 6pm on "short" day trips every other weekend or so. Otherwise, we do a one night Saturday hotel stay each month and make two nice days of it.

To me, a quickie or "drive-by" trip to WDW is a 3 night stay with four park days.

This was exactly our shortest WDW visit, snuck in to a March trip to Savannah, Ga, St Augustine Fl followed by a morning drive straight to AK with a 3 night stay off site and a 4 Day Hopper. To make it feel like we were doing our regular trip we drove to Board Walk every morning the last 3 days, valet parked and made BW our base.
