Well as an early riser and like to get out to the parks at OPENING and DW likeing to sleep in our Nextels are the best thing.

Before I would fight her to get up and rolling (getting moneiesworth)Now DD and I just go and she hits us up when she arrives at the park.

I have also called in an ADR right in front of the resturaunt when they told me they had no tables left for the night.

MAGICDREAMER All Disney rides are tame enough that to can just put your bag at your feet with no worries

Last trip in 2002 I overpacked everythingg! Suitcases, backpacks, fanny packs and I didn't use half of what I brough. So this time I'm trying to lighten up a little. This time I plan to bring a backpack (we have 2 DD's ) and the stroller and here's what I plan to bring.

Sunscreen (small stick)
Sunglasses (on straps)
Park id's, liscense
Camera extra batteries film
Pull ups for DD 3 (if not fully potty trained by then)
Extra panties and a change of clothes for DD 3 (if potty trained)
Towel (for staking out parade spots or drying off after wet rides)
Cell phone
Disney notebook (very small) with ADR info, park info, tips etc
Ponchos
Contact supplies (eyedrops, wash) I wear contacts but they bother me alot some days so I wear them as much as possible then switch to ...
Glasses

Myseld, DD 7 and DD 3 all have a fanny pack so I may take the camera supplies cell phone and sunscreen in my fanny pack and just store the other stuff in the bottom of the stroller, so DH hasn't have to carry it. Or we may rent a locker and put stuff in it and just dash back if we nees something.

Cell phones are a must for us too. We split up since we tend to have different touring styles. Cell phones allow us to do that & catch back up with each other. Even when I go with my girlfriends, we split up sometimes.

Now that my son is grown, most days, I just carry my wallet, sunglasses, cel & water bottle. I apply sunscreen in the room before I leave. I always take an afternoon hop back to my resort to make some good coffee & change for the night, so I can re-apply then if need be. If I am carrying a camera or something that day or am planning a long bout in the Park, I carry a little bottle with headache & tummy meds ( my body doesn't always handle the excesses of vacation well)

When the weather is cool in the mornings & going to warm up, I might carry a small fabric backpack to throw my sweatshirt/jacket in.

If you aren't traveling with kids, you really don't need much at all.

Seems to be an Overpacker's Group forming from this topic! At least we admit it. As for the fanny packs... I have given up on those with my dd's (12). And as for the cell phones, the only reason why one of us carries ours is we have a dog that is boarded while we are on vacation and he has severe epilepsy. The doctors always call with updates and we feel better if we don't miss those calls. Other than that there is no way I would bring my cell, in the park on vacation, ARE YOU KIDDING!!!?? You can get your calls when you get back to your rooms, right?!!

Room keys
Tickets
Cash
Mobile phone
Sunglasses
Digital camera
Chewing gum
Small water bottle

Fits nicely into a small sling bag. :)

As far as the cell question, my husband, myself and kids ages 8 and 9 all carry them in case we get seperated.

As far as what I carry, I use a fanny pack with as little as possible and I still hate it. I carry sunglasses, park tickets, drivers license, insurance card and cell phone. By the end of the trip I am so sick of that fanny pack! I would never consider a back pack. I also make my kids carry a fanny pack so they can have thier cell phone and sun glasses.

:confused3 Well ok now I feel really stupid...I was planning on making my two kids each carry a small back pack of their own. They both want to bring their autograph books...water...and my DS wants to bring his quarters and pennies to do the penny press thing. I have to carry my own of course with ponchos (little ones) water, maps, sunscreen, bug spray, asprin, moleskin, camera and I can't think of what else right now...but I can't imagine not carrying 'something'. Now that I read all these post I feel like I am going to be miserable all day carrying this stuff around...????? :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

I try to carry just the essentials of what I need. I have a small backpack...not the full size one, just a small kind of purse size backpack that I carry.

I put:
my wallet
our park tickets
sunglasses
camera
extra battery
extra memory card
small ziploc bag (in case it rains, I'll put my camera in it, since my bag isn't "waterproof"...I lost a camera once to water damage, and now I'm paranoid about it happening again)
headache/migraine medicine
umbrella
sharpie markers
autograph book (yes, I'm one of those adults who likes to do the character autographs--I use them when I scrapbook)
cell phone
2 way radio

And I think that's about it. My boyfriend and I take turns carrying the backpack around. We usually will take one of his 3 kids with us when we go, and the rule is if they want to bring something they have to carry it...I'm not going to be the one stuck carrying everything around. The only exception is I will hold stuff while they are on rides that I don't like to do (which is almost all of the major thrill rides, except Soarin')

I find it best to carry a minimum--Take a fanny pack with essentials. I agree that sunglasses are a must, as well as sunscreen. Makeup, etc, just something that isn't a bother to carry with you. :woohoo:

I'm thinking less is more. My hands must be free or I'll go crazy. I'm planning to have pockets on all of my shorts/capris so I don't have to carry a backpack/fanny pack. So here's the plan.

Items in Lanyard card holder
Room key/tickets
Credit card
ID
Cash
Sunglasses around neck w/ bungee cord

Items in Pockets

Cell phone
Digital camera
Chewing gum
Chapstick
Poncho (back pocket)
Park map and my touring plans (back pocket)

I'm not concerned with carrying a water bottle because I know the concession stands will give you free cups of ice water if you ask. I like the idea of the camel water packs. I might look into those.

Another suggestion....it looks like alot of you are bringing your cell phones. I will be bringing my blackberry, which is also a cell phone.

Take a look at your phone, I betcha there is a built in notebook for you to keep track of your ADR's, touring plans, little notes about what you need to do that day. This will eliminate having to bring loose paper, or notebooks, or Heaven forbid and actual touring guide book.

I use that feature on my blackberry for travel all the time. No need to print out reservations, or confirmation numbers...it's very handy :)

Since I have small kids, we take a lot with us, although some of the items others carry I've never even thought of. I usually take..
diapers/wipes
snacks
sippie cup
ziploc with change of clothes for kids
camera
cell
film
sunblock
my son's asthma meds

I've never thought about carrying tylenol, neosporin, bandaids, etc. I figure if I really need them, I can find them in the parks.

I usually only carry about 20 in cash since I charge most things to the room. I also have to take my son's blanket since it's the one thing that really calms him down when he's tired or scared. We used to take water bottles but now we just ask for a cup of water at any counter service. They don't charge anything for them and we have no problem with the taste. The photographer I use for my kids' pictures at home provides wallet size, laminated photos for parents to put on keychains. I take the most recent ones of each child and carry them with me in case they get lost or something. That way I have a recent photo to show security and since it's laminated, it doesn't get damaged while in the parks.

Thanks to these boards when I go next month with my 6 y.o. dd I know what I'll take with me. Each of us will have a fanny pack.

Hers will have her autograph book, pen, a small wallet with her money for the day,m&m tube with pennies/quarters for the penny press, sunglasses, disposible camera (not everyday though), a pack or two of gummi snacks or raisins, disposible poncho, and an ID card with my cell #, hotel name/phone #.

My fanny pack will have my digital camera, extra batteries, park passes/room key, poncho, cell phone, Ziplock baggies for waterprotecting items, cash/cc, sunglasses, maybe 2-3 Shout wipes, Purell wipes or the small bottle, small paper with ressies listed, purse size lotion, lip gloss, moleskin, Crystal Light packets for myself and Kool-aid packet for her,and a packet of Tylenol.

If anything more serious occurs, we'll just hop back over to the room.

It's funny how it's kind of like plotting a strategic game plan or preparing to go out ino the wilderness or preparing for war...but it's Disney!!!!! It's all good. and the most important thing is to have fun and not sweat the small stuff...it is a vacation :thumbsup2

One thing we are never without is our mister. It is filled with ice water and has an attachment that mists you. It's different than the fans. It works great everyone always asks where we got it and we mist people that are in line by us they love it. My DH always says its been our best purchase! We bought it here in NY at a fair but I'm sure you can find them on Ebay what can't you find on Ebay. I would recommend it!

I try to carry as little as possible, but end up with the opposite:

Me: Drawstring Pack filled with: small purse w/money/cc/id/passes, palm pilot, cell, lipstick, sunblock, sunglasses, pen.

DH: Ipod, camera, lenses, sunglasses, palm pilot, cell

DS: Ipod

Three adults that travel. Everybody carries their own sunglasses. Mom has to carry the Tums for Dad. I wear the pants with the zip off legs, and I carry a light jacket with a big pocket. When it gets hot I take off the legs and put them in the pocket. Then when we go to an air conditioned restaurant I put my legs back on and wear the coat. We all bring sunblock. I'm a natural red head with extremely fair skin. Banana Boat makes a 70 spf sunblock, but I still have to put it on every two or three hours in the sun. I also carry at least one camera. Dad bring the 35 mm and the digital and sometimes the video camera. I will bring the brand new digital but I may bring the 35 mm just in case. Also a disposable underwater camera for the water rides is fun.
