The night we arrive we are just planning on going to take a walk or a swim, the Trails End Buffet, and the sing-a-long/ movie. It will give the kids something to look foward to. Downtown Disney is always a possibility too!!

I have a question about camping at WDW. I always thought that people that went there used campers or rented cabins. But a tent? What about showering?
I've only gone camping 1 time and it was only for 1 night. Son joined boy scouts (which was more like "family scouts"!) and we went to sears and spent over $250 on tent, sleeping bags, etc. We went camping that 1 time and never did it again! LOL We have a really nice tent...big enough for the 5 of us. Just looking for some info....maybe we could do it at WDW next time!
TIA

Missy,
FW is about the only place we do tent camp. They have VERY nice restroom facilities with large private showers. The sites have daily ‘Maid’ service to rake your site and tke out your garbage. We’re not into primitive camping so we like camping there better than anyplace else. But, three nights is still the max for my DW.

Another nice way to start is to take the boat to the Contemporary and have dinner at Chef Mickey's. ::MickeyMo
It has become sort of a tradition with us. Chef Mickey's is wonderful for kids. Afterwards we then go to the observation deck to watch the MK fireworks. I'm not sure if the deck is still open to those not eating at the California Grill. If not, a trip on the monorail (tell the attendant you want to sit up front with the conductor - way cool!) :Pinkbounc :bounce:  ::yes::
Then we take the boat back to FW to watch the fireworks from the beach.

Have Fun!

Rake your site and take out your garbage?? Never in all my years staying there have I had that happen.

Before you occupy a site, they will hose it down, rake it and make sure it is ready for the next occupant. While you are staying there, you have access to a garbage/recycle area which will be fairly close to each site. As far as I've ever seen, NO CM goes on your site while it is occupied unless there is a problem (like a tree fall down--yes, I've seen that) or message received at the front desk that needs to be posted on your RV/Tent.

The cabins have regular maid service, however.

They do empty the garbage cans that are located throughout the loops, but they only rake/clean the sites right after someone checks out.

The last time I was at Ft. Wilderness, it was obvious that the site we were in had been empty for several days because it was not freshly raked. Lots of pine needles.

I also keep a garbage bag at my site while I'm there and just take it to the can every couple of days, that way I don't have to walk to the community cans for every little piece of trash.
