Ugh. We leave tomorrow for a week in Disney. I just looked at the weather and although a lot of the week is going to be nice, there will be scattered thunder storms on Sunday, which is our MK day and I have reservations at the Crystal palace so it's really not that doable to cancel, right? I mean if I were to cancel wouldn't I still be charged?

:confused3

Do thunderstorms last as long as they do here or are they just a passing 1/2 hour thing and then all is well?

Put on a poncho and keep on going. :teeth:

Most showers are quick - 30 minutes or less. You can go shop or get in line for a ride.

Exactly what I was going to say!

The rain tends to reduce the number of guests coming to the park, so you can have a lot of fun and get more done if you go when it rains.

Wear shoes that are made to get wet.

This is a big mistake made by many when regular tennis shoes get wet they rub and cause blisters. Get something that will dry fast .

Other then that the Rain never stops us and is a relief sometimes during the summer.

Def. wear shoes made to get wet! We also bring hats with a bill to keep the rain from falling directly on your face if that makes any sense to anyone. Other than that the pp are correct. Put on the poncho & keep going. :cool1:

If you have a stroller, make sure to bring your rain shield!

Don't let a little rain run you off! Have a great trip!!

We just got back and 2 of the days had some showers off and on. We brought some ponchos with us if this happened and kept the receipt. That way if we didn't need them, we could return them when we came home. Well, we were so glad we brought them! It came in really handy and it kept us dry. We were at the Animal Kingdom and they were great for protecting you on those water rides like Cali River Rapids.

:rolleyes1

That THAT would be some BIG-TIME money-savin'!

:rotfl:

Ditto what the others have said. Have a great time. I love MK in the rain. It is as close as most of us will ever get to having the park to ourselves. In fact, after our first rainy day at MK, we were a little dissappointed when the sun was shining the next day.

Our first two days last year TS Alberto was passing over and it FLOODED us in the parks, but, there were only other Disney freaks like us there, the crowds were great. Just another reason to wear Crocs since they don't hold water.

Bring ponchos with you. They are expensive at WDW and when it rains there will be lines of people trying to buy them!

Also...remember in Florida is rains off and on and is sometimes a nice break from the heat!

Do not cancel your park day or your dinner reservations. Chances are...it will not rain all day. The parks are usually not as busy either.

Enjoy your trip!

"Sack Up" and have a good time!:beach: :charac2:

Tevas and Keens are great water shoes!

I agree with the others. I actually hope for rain once in a while on our trips. It really cuts down on the crowds.

Why would you cancel your dinner plans? Scattered thunderstorms mean just that. Scattered. It's not an all day rain. If you can't get ponchos before you go (I see you leave tomorrow) or the water shoes you want, don't fret it. Ponchos are available in the parks (although more expensive) and you can put an extra pair of shoes into your bag. It's not that big of a deal. I hpe that you don't give up the park the minute it starts to rain. By the time you'd get back to your resort, the rain is probably going to be stopped anyway.

Crystal palace is inside, has bathrooms if you really need to dry off, you can take your time eating.

If I go to Disney World and don't experience at least one thunderstorm, I am disappointed. I am known to do a very terrible version of "Singin' in the Rain".

Rain never hurt anyone. Go and have fun!

On one of our early trips, the weather forecast for the following day showed rain all day. We cancelled our entire park day and went to the mall. BIG mistake! The "all day" rain didn't last more than minutes and the sun was out the entire day. Another time predicted scattered showers were torrential downpours that last a long time. No way to know until it happens. I've learned to take the DIS advice - we pack lots of disposable ponchos and pack a pair of flip flops to bring into the parks just in case. When it rains the crowds thin out considerably and your park experience becomes a terrific memory - even soaking wet!

ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS ON WHAT TYPE OF SHOES TO WEAR WHEN IT RAINS. THANKS:cheer2:

Wow exactly what I would have said...One of our best memories of our June trip was the afternoon rain showers that cooled everything down and sent crowds home. We never had lightning for more than a few minutes and since we aren't made of sugar...

We just always made sure we had a pair of dry shoes back at the hotel and didn't have anything special for rain for a number of years. Now I have my crocs and a pair of keenes that can get wet and dry quickly.

Being a southerner,I can say scattered means maybe. The part of town 1/2 mile away may get drenched and we won't. Don't let it scare you. If,by some chance, you do get caught in a storm, just get shelter-there's plenty of places in the MK. You might get lucky and it will storm while you're at the Crystal Palace. Don't cancel because the CP really has one of the best character meals. The food is actually edible.
