What do u do for a reception?

Not sure what u would do for.a reception at an after park hours Magic Kingdom ceremony? Anybody ever done this and what did u do?

Do they even let you do after park hours Magic Kingdom ceremony anymore in WDW? I thought they were only allowing before park events. You can do them in Disneyland, though, for an astronomical minimum...

oh I am not sure..I saw pics of a Gorgeous Wedding in front of Cinderellas Castle in Mk on magicaldayweddings.com, but now that I look at it you are right they dont do it anymore!

You can have a ceremony at the Rose Garden near Cinderella's castle. It's $10,000 and an 8 am ceremony only. You can only confirm six months out. I think you then have the other wishes requirements in addition, but I'm not sure if the $10,000 counts towards that or not. Everyone has to be out of the park before park opening.

Magic Kingdom does not allow wedding receptions. If the group goes to a Magic Kingdom restaurant, wedding attire would not be permitted. If it's part of a Wishes event, then there's a four-hour reception that one would have at any of the Wishes reception venues, and there are many in any of the other parks and resorts, but just not Magic Kingdom.

If you're spending $10,000, you had better love it! Otherwise, it's not worth it. Just sayin'.

I agree..My problem is I have to Stop looking at pics of wedding that happened before 2010 or so cause everytime I see something and fall in love Disney Doesnt do it anymore. The wedding I love was before 2008 so that is totally out! Having a hard time getting excited about locations cause we are suck Mk people and most of the in park locations are in Epcot which has no special meaning for us in fact we usually skip Epcot on our visits to WDW! The man says to spend whatever I want to get what I want. This was so much easier when we were trying to keep the budget small. Lol

It's not "under the castle" but otherwise it is very close to the castle.

Yeah, there isn't much at all within mk itself for a wedding. Is there another park that you enjoy? I know you said you didn't care for Epcot. Dhs has a lot of sites available for reception. Would it be possible to have a ceremony there or at animal kingdom? You'd have to ask, and just because it hasn't been done before doesn't mean you can't be the first.

Both of these parks would require the entire thing to occur 2 hours after park closing.

The other possibility is Disneyland, which offers in park opportunities for very high prices (as in tens of thousands of dollars). Most receptions would be at one of the hotels, but animation academy is available for receptions (just like in dhs).

We have plenty of time so I am exploring every option at this point. I think I am more afraid that I am going to committ pay the money and then Disney is going add a new location or I find something I like better. It is a Beauty and the Beast theme that is for sure. Wild fantasy would be the new Be Our Guest Restaurant in Mk for reception, but not offered at this time. I am totally open to suggestions if anybody has them.

If they do add a new location, there isn't anything that says you can't change locations. So for example, if you booked the wedding pavilion, but then a new magic kingdom ceremony at the castle opened up, you should be able to change your venue. Where you get into trouble is if you cancel altogether. Then there are stiff penalties.

As for a beauty and the beast theme, there are two possibilities. One is you can decorate a ballroom in that way, and if you have lots of money, Disney floral can do almost anything you want. The other option that's sort of ready made is to have your reception at the studios at theater of the stars, where they perform beauty and the beast. You can have a plated dinner for up to fifty people. Venue rental is $1000 and food and beverage minimum is $4000. There is an entertainment package featuring six characters and a pianist and a major domo for $10,395. I don't know if the entertainment package is mandatory or optional for the venue.

Just thought of another possibility for a reception. It's not exactly beauty and the beast, but you could have your reception at Monsieur Paul's in France pavilion at Epcot. Capacity is 120. Food and beverage minimum is $5000 for events ending before 4 pm and $8000 for events ending after 4 pm. Venue rental fee is $250. Unlike other receptions, Disney catering doesn't do this one; Monsieur Paul does, so you have to like French food. You'd have to ask what you'd be allowed to do for decor though and whether you can have characters come, if you wanted that.

I thought it was Swan Boat Landing that held MK weddings not the Rose Garden.

In the pictures it seems like the castle is in the distance. I might need to do a sight visit and see if I like it in person. I cant picture where exactly it is, but it looks like it is closer to Tomorrow Land than the castle.

Disney calls the location the "rose garden," but it's basically the Swan Boat Landing - the guests sit at the landing. There's another location over in the smoking area below the Plaza restaurant, but that's even farther from the castle.
