I signed up for the "What WIll You Celebrate" to celebrate our recent engagement while at Disney. We signed up at Akerhaus.

So, what exactly do they do and will they charge me for it?

Probably nothing :rotfl: We signed up for our 40th wedding anniversary and over the course of the week, nothing was ever mentioned.
It really seems to be the luck of the draw.
You may have a table decorated with confetti. You may get a cupcake or special desert. You may get nothing.
If you really want a special celebration, you need to plan for it and pay for it. You can order special cakes etc, from the cake line, you can order special deliveries from the Disney florist etc.
Have a Great Trip

I agree it's the luck of the draw, but if you call the ADR line and speak to someone, i think you might have a better chance of something happening b/c the CM on the phone take a lot of time to go over your celebrating event.

To add a celebration to your adr there is no charge.

Basically what that is for is to let the restaurant know you are celebrating and what you are celebrating.

Now as for getting anything......that is totally random. It isn't suppose to be but it is.
Some places you may not be acknowledged at all. At other places you might get a free dessert, a glass of champagne or a cupcake, it all depends on your server.

We just got confetti on our table. It is a good idea to go to guest relations and tell them what you are celebrating. They will usually give you free pins with your celebration on it. It is fun to wear them and most of the cast members notice them. They are also great free souvenirs!

Last year at San Angel Inn we were celebrating our anniversary and got a free ice cream dessert and a really sweet hand-drawn card from our server (who rocked!)! :goodvibes

At Akershus, for my birthday, I got a cupcake and a signed birthday card from the princesses & my server. So you may get a cupcake or something at Akershus, or nothing. Try not to expect anything. At Sci-Fi, I got nothing for my birthday, and noticed it on my check that it was listed, and the car next to me got a cupcake. SO I think it depends on the server sometimes.

We recently went to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary at the BWV 1 bedroom villa.

At check in, we got 25th anniversary buttons, which we wore all week~
The BWV, sent flowers, a huge cheese, crackers, fruit, veggie basket, a large bottle of Evian water, and a bottle of Champagne. And a Anniversary card, signed by staff, wishing us Congrads!

At each TS restaurant, we were offered a free cocktail, or a bottle of Champagne, and free desserts. Several offered free appetizers.

At several lounges/bars we were offered free cocktails.

I did nothing but book my resort/dining reservations and told them what we were celebrating. And let WDW work their magic~

That is awesome! Last year on my birthday a CM (manager in the park) arranged VIP seating for fireworks, but it was a downpour and did not end up happening for me/our family. Being at WDW for my birthday was the most magical place to be.

Happy Anniversary :lovestruc:cheer2:

Last fall for DH's birthday he got a pin at check-in and during dinner at Chef Mickey's the mouse himself delivered a cupcake with a birthday candle in it.

I would not know what to do if that happened to me! I <3 mickey and cry when I see him!

When DH & I Celebrated out Honeymoon we had little surprises everywhere!

At each restaurant they did a little something special.. Champagne, table confetti, special deserts, little cards and one night when we got back to our room, on our door knob were balloons, that said Just Married, and it had a balloon inside a balloon which was cool, and also a signed photo of Minnie and Mickey saying Congratulations. (this made my whole trip! )

I love the Disney magic!

The key is not to expect anything and be happy if you happen to get something. My husband and I got engaged at Epcot and wore buttons all week that my Mom had bought for us celebrating it (this was before they had the "Just Engaged" buttons). We wore them all day every day of our week long trip, except for the few hours we spent at Blizzard Beach one day. We got absolutely nothing. The only thing that happened was one cast member at RnRC congratulated us. No one else even said a word to us. I had heard all of these wonderful things that Disney does and honestly was really disappointed that no one seemed to care.

On the other hand, we went to WDW to celebrate my college graduation. I wasn't expecting anything, but wore the Celebrate button anyways. I couldn't believe the number of times I got asked about it and even got free dessert once. I was so shocked because after my last experience I didn't expect anything and it was a great time.

If you get your hopes up for something, there's a good chance that it's not going to live up to your expectations. It really is random and you might get a lot, but you also might get absolutely nothing. If you don't expect anything, then you'll be even happier if and when something does happen.
