What do I do with myself when the cruise is over????

I am crazy about the DIS! I go on the net many times a day for an update. As of right now it is the only site I care to visit (ok- I am also addicted to weather.com due to the incomming hurricane). I know that after this cruise/WDW trip I will not be able to go for a long long time as we are closing (while we are in FL) on our new house (I swear the bank knows about all the money you have saved and takes it all). What am I going to do with myself after the vacation is over? I know that I will have this new house to move into, thank God, but what will I surf on the net??? Do others go into DCL withdraw???

I'm thinking the same thing. I guess we have to get by with reading the trip reports of other DISers, and maybe by beginning to plan another trip, even if it's just a short inexpensive one.

I feel your pain!

Pick a date for a year in the future, scrape up the deposit, and start planning and saving.....
These boards have useful ideas for that, too.
Remember, the further out you reserve a date, the cheaper it'll be....

Wait for the announcement for the first DCL cruise to Alaska. That's a ways off...

Since our cruise I've been reading the boards just like I did before because now that I've cruised I can answer some of the questions for people who haven't cruised yet!

Why plan another of course :-) I just got back from a cruise in August and have just finished putting deposits down on 3 more to last me for the next 18 months. And 2 of them are Disney cruises :-)

We just got off the 7 day eastern 3 days ago and I was just speaking to my family about this subject over dinner.

The thing that keeps us smiling is knowing that we have more Disney cruises in our future; we booked two more while onboard.

We really miss all of our Disney Cruise family.

Hope to see you onboard again real soon.

I suffered severe PDD (post Disney Depression) after our last WDW vacation in 2000. Flying to Florida from Australia alone costs us $10,000.00  and that's before we eve start with accomodation, tickets etc. so the thought of ever getting back to WDW seemed like a far off dream.

However, in just over 2 weeks we will be in Florida again going to USF/IOA and WDW and a
7 night Western Disney Cruise :teeth: :hyper::teeth::hyper: and will be away from Sydney for nearly a month.

What I'm saying is - trust in the Pixie Dust !! Believe and you will receive.:earsboy: And always look forward to the planning.

I feel the same way. I have been trying to get back to WDW since 2001 and we will finally be there in 13 days. But once we get back I will miss it so much. Actually 3 days after we return home I will be going back to school. It has been 12 years since I was in school and I am a little nervous. But all I have to do to get through it is think about getting a better job with my new degree. With that new job I will make better money that I can then use towards our next Disney vacation. So I guess when you think about it a degree ='s Disney! But I will miss the sound of that horn when it's all said and done.

I am usually REALLY depressed :( for several weeks after my disney trips!
The ONLY cure is to book another trip!

I still get on the boards almost everyday. I figure now that I have been on a cruise that I can answer some of the questions. I like ready everyone's trip reports too. We don't have another cruise booked right now, but we are thinking about trying to go in 2006 again. That keeps me going.:)

I went throught that every time we went to WDW or on a Disney cruise. After our trip in March we decided that we wanted to guarantee that we would be going at least once a year and joined the DVC. It was the best thing we could have done! Now I know that Disney is going to be part of our vacation every year for the next 50 yrs!! I have so much planning to do I love it!!!! I just have to keep watching the planning videos, going through my photo albums from previous trips, and keeping up here on the DIS boards until the next one rolls around.

i agree with trip planning - that's a great cure for PDD (love that!)

do you scrapbook? i have been working on our last trip for, oh 7 months now. I have finished the DCL book and am close to finishing the WDW book. sometimes I just sit and look at my pictures and smile dreamily................

reliving the memories and putting them together in a scrapbook is fun for me; I get excited about my layouts, etc too!

i spend like 80% of my pc time on the disboard too! eek! that's alot but i love it! WISH is my home page, it's a great group of diser's with another focus on fitness/eating healthy etc. Then I spend time on my 'rewards' sites that I have joined to earn points to cash in for various gift cards, check out the Rewards board for more info. Thank goodnes DIS has multiple 'just for fun' boards to keep me going during the trip planning slumps!

(I swear the bank knows about all the money you have saved and takes it all).
That's why they can't tell you what the closing costs are going to be until they get a nice look at your bank account. Banker: "You know since you $30,000 in your bank account it's going to cost you $7,500 for us to type up the loan contract. Never mind that it's our standard contract that we've used for 62 years and we only have to fill in 3 blanks on it" Then just before closing they take another peek into your bank acct and decide to tack on a few more fees...that will be $500 for chewing gum, and another $1,750 because it's raining today. And they'll tell you that you're luck that the temperature outside is under 90 degrees otherwise there would have been an airconditioning fee of $3,000. And they go on and on and they can't / won't tell you what all the fees you will run into before the process is all over!

Thats my biggest gripe about buying a home. The real estate fees don't even bother me that much because you know what they are up front.

So good luck on purchasing a new home. Hopefully you have hurricane insurance.

As far as to what to surf on the 'net, I would continue to hang out here on the DIS. My last cruise was over a year ago and we booked the CA->FL repo cruise for a year from now and I have been on the boards "every day". OK, yes I have a problem, but at least it's not booze, cigarettes or cheatin' on my DW.:earseek: If you have to have an addiction it might as well be the DisBoards!

When we return from a cruise we start planning for the next one.:sunny: That is the only way not to feel blue when you get home. We also look at our pictures and video tapes of cruises we have been on when we need a fix.:yo-yo:

I cried getting off the ship this past March and then suffered severe PDD for a couple of weeks until DH suggested we buy into DVC! And then, just a few weeks ago I booked a last minute 4 day cruise with my mom. So ITA that the best way to get over PDD is to book another trip!

CLC Tiger Pom Mom :cheer2:

Well- it looks like we won't even be going on a cruise this weekend! Evacuations are starting Thurs. and airports are talking about closing. No DCL for me this time.
Turn Francis Turn!!!

Okay- I may be able to take a DCL afterall! I called to see if they had any room on the following Sunday Wonder cruise- they did. I would have to pay a bit more but that is okay with me. We will have to see how that turns out. I will still wait to see if DCL will change things around frist....

I love to play the Disney Vacation Planning DVD. I actually just turn it on and listen to it while I do other things. My kids think I am crazy.

Then I have to have a future trip planned so I know that I am going back again.
