What Do Ducks Do on July 4th??? (only cellphone pics were taken)...

Well.. let me start from the Harbour (Baltimore)… Last June 20th I trekked to Baltimore Harbour for a DisMeet. There two other disers(Candice30 and klofan) who drove with me. And by the time we parked, walked to the restaurant and ordered everything were finalized. The Tres Caballeros were headed to the Promise land on July 18 for 2 nights. Booked the resort… AKL Savannah View( I know right !!??) and all we need is to book a good airfare… and so the wait happened… We waited and waited and waited… SWA today Airtran tomorrow USAir the next… nothing was happening… then finally judgement day came… We have to cancel our July 18 getaway… Me being the bad friend… I started checking July 4th weekend with airfare. Who would get a good rate in less than 3 weeks on the 2nd busiest day at the Promise land. Voila! USAir have the $69 each way. I tried checking availability for DVC… Nothing! One day here, one day they’re one day everywhere. I tried the next day… and finally 2 nights at SSR opened up Sunday the 5th and Monday the 6th. The Duck tail started spinning, weaving some not so good thoughts LOL! I finally booked those 2 days hoping that the 4th would open up. Checked USAir and the flight were still available. So the Duck is spending her 1st Independence Day at the Promise Land! But mind you still no room for the 4th. Called and called till finally AKL opened for the same nights and I transferred and still wait listed the 4th. By Monday before the weekend when I called to add dining plan on my ressie they told me I don’t have anything that my 2 nights at AKV were canceled. Yikes! Panic starts creeping in… Joan placed me on hold, while waiting and hyperventilating Joan came back at the other end of the line with some good news. Two nights just opened up at BWV Pool view! I will take it I said with all my might! So that was solved. Now I need to find lodging for the 4th. After checking and comparing rates for a standard room between POP, ASMu was fully booked and ASSprt only have started I finally landed a room at ASMo. Time to get ready. I have been packed from the last trip (I never unpack LOL).

Finally it’s Saturday. Off I go to the airport. As I got to the Economy parking gate we are being detoured back to the Departure area and use that single pile entrance to the Economy lot it was B U S Y !!! I never thought that a major holiday like July 4th would be busy at the airport. I was assuming that everybody was already at his or her destination by the eve of the holiday! Finally got to the gate with 1 hour and 30 minutes left before my flight time.

And now it’s time to go to

The flight was great it took us 1 hour and 50 minutes gate to gate… I love USAir for this. And since it was only a 3 night trip(boarded at 7:50AM landed at MCO at 9:40AM according to the pilot busy it may seem but there was no air traffic woohoooo!).

Plus I was really feeling lucky since I found the other earring. I thought I lost one last June 20th when I went for the DisMeet. This was a present from Meriweather when we met in June 09 

Headed straight to the ME red carpet and for the 1st time POP line for ME have no line and where was I ??? at ASMo where there is a line.

Now on the ME bus and the clouds were not looking mighty friendly right now.

After a nice nap the bus driver Jaime (he pronounced it as Hi-meh cute!) Welcome us to the Promise land property! Passing by Victory Hwy!

And soon we are checking in! It was a nice day, starting to get hot but the lobby/check in was not as crowded as I expected. Room was ready! Yes!

On the way to Bldg2 Mighty Ducks section I was able to snap some picture even though my mind was already raising on and on about MK!!!

It was located under the table and yes it was not white anymore! But I did not bother making a fuss about it since I am only there to sleep. Other than that the room was clean and smells clean.

Changed to a more comfy relaxing outfit and off to the Bus Stop I go!


Finally I got in! I am at Magic Kingdom and it is a holiday! My 1st major holiday and I am at MK!

After hugging a few veterans (was not able to get picture but they were there by the gate, and thanking them for all the great things they have done for our country!), my 1st impulse was to head to the Hall of The Presidents and everybody have the same idea since by the time I got to the gate it was a wall to wall guest! I was able to inch my way in and got a few pictures.

But there was no way I will be able to watch the newly updated show so I decided to go out and about.

And maybe look for some lunch. I was just planning to do a TS but tried asking before heading to one at the LTT and guess what! A 15-minute wait! Not bad at all!

Ok to continue…

After lunch at LTT I tried to go back at the Hall of President and brave the crowd. After seeing the changes and the new President and the video I think everybody was crying in my row by the time the lights were on!

It was a very hot July 4th IMO and so there’s no waiting in an outside line for me. I have a good few hours to kill before 9PM(for the fireworks) and headed towards Carousel of Progress, I was thinking indoors, a couple of rounds, a nice nap and that should be great! Well! By the time I got there this is what it looks like…

A 35-minute wait! But since the wait is under a shade with the help of my fan I did it! But I never had seen a wait for CP, NEVER!

After CP I tried to do the Laugh Floor! Again the logic of indoor, cooler activity, a large location fast wait! Whoa! It was a 45 minute wait and the line was already almost by the bridge towards the Castle and looking across Stitch have the same wait or even more! So time to just go to the Emporium and do some shopping. After getting tired of walking in the Emporium I just picked a spot by the girls department at the back and sat on the floor and act like I was waiting for the rest of my family sssshhh… texted some friends and uploaded some pics. Finally my butt started to feel numb from sitting on the floor and so time for a snack! Headed towards the bakery to have some Cinnabon and Frozen latte! God was good I found an empty table inside by the wall so I can sit there and kill time. A 4th away from eating my sweet buns a family of 4 was circling this one table next to me. The family who was sitting got a little bit snippy and point blank told the father of the group “stop stalking out table we are not going to be done soon” I felt bad and offered to share my table. The table I have was big enough for 3 tight for 4 and of course more. To annoy Snippy more I asked her if I could borrow the one sit that they are not using. She looks at me with contempt and said, “well my bag is on it”. I then turn on the bag and look at it closely. And said “Nine West (the brand of her bag) would you mind if you stay on the floor or on your owners table so the other guest may have a sit?” Snippy said, “you don’t have to be a smart *** about it” Snippy’s husband took the bag and just handed me the chair. The family who was sharing my table laughed silently LOL. I finished my sweet bun and bid my newfound family goodbye. They said be careful and watch your back they might get you at Main Street! LOL I was not worried I was at Main Street and walked closely to any CM I see hahahaha!!!

Back to walking again…

Got to Philaharmagic and that only have a 25-minute wait. I went and got a PF for Peter Pan! I have 3 hours to kill before PP. Got in at Philharmagic and cooled off. That show always gives me a refreshing feeling! Must be the Fruit Pie and Champagne! Now what to do next? Maybe another snack! Off to Starlight Café for some Brownie and water.

After my yet another snack time at an AC location PP time is here. By this time cellphone is running out of juice between texting with MAC and other Disers who are in the park and taking picture. Then I went to grab 3 scoops of ice cream and 3 bottles of water and ready to scout a good spot for the Fireworks!

The above picture was taken around 5PM and it is getting crowded already. I managed to grab a spot by the hub where Mickey and Walt’s statue were situated. Ate my ice cream and danced to the Shake it Move it Celebrate Parade 3 times. Thank God for that amusement or else my seatmates would have killed me since I would be yapping to them none stop! At exactly 9PM the fireworks started. It was amazing and sad to say no more battery for the cell. In a way it was great since I was really able to watch and enjoy it rather than trying to take a picture, text and send LOL. After the fireworks I gave myself 30minutes before I got up and clear out. Did not get far and so another snack at Casey’s with some dogs and soda! After a hearty meal time to again battle the crowd. Good thing I went around inside Casey’s to get through the Emporium since all the doors facing Main Street were all closed. So everybody who tried to get in and do a short cut did not happened. And I was able to yet again leisurely walk out of the park. By the time I got to the turnstile there were already lines everywhere. Lines going to the monorail, to the ferry to all resort to the buses. Original my plan was to hitch a ride going to the BWV and maybe check out JellyRolls, well you can forget that. So instead I walk to the Contemporary Resort and caught the DTD bus! While walking to CR I was able to witness the fireworks at EPCOT! A plus! Got to CR and the DTD bus came within 10 minutes and it was empty. I was able to sit down! We did not stop at Mk but instead stopped at Poly and GF they have the same idea as I was only good thing was mine was at at CR and they went to Poly .

Got to DTD and The Market Place was a mad house. Instead I went straight towards Paradiso 37. It was not to busy just enough crowd. Anthony from my previous/first visit was working! Woohooo! He got me my corner and there I ordered a drink and a snack. A few minutes later a couple from Uk came and it seems like it was there 1st time at Paradiso. They were situated next to my table. They look at my table and started asking what do I have and are they good! I suggested the corn and the fritters and the mangled margarita for one and the frozen sangria for the other. It seems like it was a hit since they ordered seconds… After a few drinks our table became 2 then 3 then 4! It was a great night! After exchangin emails we all bid our goodbye at 2:30AM LOL and time to go back to ASMo. The bus ride was not bad at all I was able to get in on the 1st bus aahh yeah it was because it is almost 3AM. Got back to the resort took a quick shower and crashed.

At 6AM my cellphone was beeping none stop and I know it was not my alarm since my play date with Melissa is at 10AM at BWV where I will be spending the next 2 nights of my weekend Independence getaway! By the time I see all my text messages, it was from family and friends who were checking if I was on the monorail at 2AM. Only then I turn on the TV and learn what had happened. After texting back friends I took a peak outside. The Mighty Ducks Pond was empty! So ran back in the room grab my swimming garments and jump in the pool! Lovely! After 30 to 60 minutes of waddling got out of the water and went back in the room for a quick shower and check out. On my way out I took more pictures of ASMo Bldg 2

I would definitely request this location again when I book ASMo.

Honey I am home!

It was not a bad transfer. I took the taxi from ASMo to BWV and only cost me $8.00 plus tip.
By the time I checked in the only room ready was a handicap room so I opt to wait. They will just text me when the room is ready. By the time I wad one Melissa was standing next to me at the front desk. Left my luggage at the bell service and off we went to DHS.​

Loved the trip report Tim! I SOOO wish I coulda been there. Its always been my dream to be in the MK for 4th of July but couldn't afford it this year. So glad to see you had a good time and of course you make new friends everywhere you go!
