What Disney Tip Are you really glad you listened to?

I guess I won't kick myself! ;) How do you get them and what do you do with them? TIA!
Each of the four parks at Disney has a designated day for morning and evening Extra Magic Hours. You must stay on-site at a Disney Resort to take advantage of the EMH. Morning EMH is one hour in the park before it opens to the general public and evening EMH is usually three hours after closing to the general public.

OMG! OMG! OMG! I have to show this to you guys!! My birthday was Sunday and my DH was really upset because his gift for me wasn't finished yet. He is a wire jewelry artist and he has been incredibly busy lately. ANYWAY, I just got my birthday gift and I am in tears!!

Do you recognize that red Mickey head inside??

Yep, it is confetti from our last night in Disney at the Wishes Dessert Party! DH had collected it off of the table when I wasn't looking to make me a pendant with! He even put a hidden Mickey in the bail (not really hidden, but you know what I mean!)

He usually makes pendants from people's flowers (prom, wedding, funerals, etc.) but said he didn't want to get arrested for picking flowers in Disney World! :rolleyes1

Anyway, he is the sweetest DH in the world (right now) and I had to share with everyone I know who will appreciate it!

.

Totally sweet :yay:

General tip that made a lot of difference:

You don't need to pay full price!

I know now to most of us that makes total sense, but when I first started, I was paying rack rate for everything...crazy I know:scared1:

What exactly do you mean by this? Are you referring to use of codes and discounts?

SO GLAD I FOUND THIS THREAD! We are 62 days away and I have taken tons of notes from this thread. Thanks to everyone for sharing!

Rolling up entire outfits in 2-gallon ziploc bags (socks, underwear, pants and shirt) and squishing the air out.

I like to pack an extra bag (an older bag, kinda ugly so I don't care if it got lost) and pack it with a case of water, snacks and other food items. The only time I have to carry it is from my car to the airport check in at my home town the next time I see the really heavy ugly bag is when it's delivered to my room by the magical express people. I save money by not having to buy bottled water or snacks. On the way back I just fold the empty bag up and stick it in the bottom of my suit case or use it for stuff we bought. This bag so far has ALWAYS ends up being searched at the airport. I think it's because it's so heavy and well sorta ugly..... :rotfl:

Go early to the park of your choice; take a break and return to your resort or hotel when the dai is hottest; return to the parks in the evening. Some of the parks have special night-time fun after dusk.

Thanks for all the tips!! we leave in a week for our first family trip (DD-11, DD-8, DS-6). My husband and I went in 1997 for our honeymoon. We stayed offsite. This time we're staying at POR. We live in NW IA and are experiencing our 3rd blizzard this winter, so, we're really looking foward to some sunny, warm weather!!

I am always on the lookout for free samples of laundry detergent. I have a collection of Tide and the Purex 3in1 sheets. They fit nice in the luggage. Just check on their websites to see if they are offering free samples.

In no particular order.....

Taking my own poncho(s).
Taking a few band aids just in case you get blisters on your feet.
Best places to see the characters ( my Daughter loved that, thanx )
dole whip.
ADR's.
Rope drop
Off site Vs. on site stay.
Restaurants to avoid as well as the ones that are ''must do''.
Hidden Mickey's.

Someone from avon must be reading our threads and came up with an over the door organizer for the bathrooms. I was shopping for DW for Valentine's day and came across it. Click HERE to check it out. I thought this was one of the coolest things I've seen and just had to share with my fellow Dis'ers. I've read several posts mentioning the Over the Door Shoe Organizers; now there's actually one for the bathroom. :lmao: Well first one I've ever come across anyways. I plan on ordering one for our upcoming trip when they become available.

One of my favorite things about our last trip was completing a scavenger hunt book with my son. There were so many things in the park that I never noticed. And, because the book was out-of-date, we couldn't find some things. We ended up talking to a bunch of different cast-members trying to get the answers to the questions. We got an extra ride on Buzz's space ranger spin to find the answer to one question!

my favorite advice
1.Dole whips-mmm...such a delicious cool treat! So glad i read about them on the Dis!
2. Crocs-comfy, cool, blister free-even when it's pouring for days. Last may was the rainiest vaca ever 7out of 10 days constant rain all day. Sneakers couldnt dry fast enough and made your feet feel mushy when wet. Crocs dry fast, let the rain water run right through and dont get slippery. Plus no blisters. And if its nice enough to go swimming or to the water parks they float. Oh and they're antimicrobial. SO totally worth the cost.
3. Plastic bags- especially for wet stuff
4. Pick a pearl in Japan- a great keepsake that grows with kids, pearls are classic jewelry plus the pearl birthday ceremony is special.
5.Grand Marnier Slushie in France-so good- another great dis reccomendation!
6. Info on index cards- hours, parade schedules, etc. so helpful and easy to carry, had many people tell me it was a good idea
7.Mini first aid kit-bee stings and scrapes are bound to happen from time to time

Don't forget ponchos and definately get used to the walking before you go!:wizard:

We learn something new every time we go, but here are a few things we are doing this trip:

I bought tiaras ahead of time for all the girls--we are doing a princess breakfast while the guys have a "pirate day."

Lots of people dress in costume at WDW these days, so a crazy hat, a princess dress, etc, will not seem out of place if you feel the urge to wear one--bring them with you, since they are crazy expensive there.

Many other things have been mentioned here, but I don't remember seeing this:
--bringing a small flashlight or glow bracelets if you have little ones who will be scared on dark rides.
--use counter service to buy 2 meals to share; snack around the parks if not on the dining plan.

Have a great time!

These tips keep on coming. Some of them I have forgotten, but, rest assured no more..they will stay in my Disney binder:) Thank you all:)

So we're looking at taking a family trip in mid-late July. Is this the worst time to plan a trip, other than the terrible heat will the crowds be horrible? Thanks for any tips!

The best things I did....

I brought different medicines....sudafed, tylenol etc....Both DH and I had terrible allergies when we got there!!!

PONCHOS! and a cover for the stroller!

toys/treats from the disney outlets

outlet covers for little ones for the hotel room, night light

Can anyone tell me about how much a pearl is or where I could find this info??I'm assuming you buy the pearl & then pick from a widely ranged pricing for the actual jewelry????
