What Disney Tip Are you really glad you listened to?

Target dollar aisle had Disney nightlights last week.. Picked up an Incredibles one for our cruise

Thanks to another poster's tip, I just picked up a three-outlet extension to plug into one of the very few (and usually inconveniently placed) outlets at the hotel. It was very inexpensive (about two bucks) and comes in various outlet numbers -- two, three, four and more. It will make plugging both our phones and cameras in a LOT easier. I am usually crawling behind furniture to get to some of the outlets.

I am planning our first trip to DW at the end of the month. I have learned so many tips on DIS.......THANK YOU ALL!!! :) I just read an update on UG's website that said that Disney no longer lets you ride in the front of the monorail. Has anyone been recently that has been able to??

Google sites for discount disney pins. Keep looking; some sites are cheaper than others. I purchased some for our last trip two years ago and they worked great. I only paid $2 a pin. Today, I ordered a 25 pin grab bag at $1.65 a pin (they said there wouldn't be duplicates). Great for trading!

There was an accident in January that resulted in the death of a Monorail driver CM (no passengers were on board). Since then they do not allow passengers to ride in the front car. There has been no official word of whether this will ever be allowed again.

The view was obviously great from that front car....and talking with the driver was always fun....but another reason to ride in front was to collect the Monorail trading cards. It was reported that this can still be done by asking a Monorail CM if they have any.....our experience has been hit and miss as to whether the CMs we ask have any available, but it's worth a try.

Have a wonderful time on your first trip.....may it be the first of many!

Two other "experiences" instead of the monorail -- you can be a guest conductor on the Disney World Railroad at MK. You just need to get the very back seat and you get to call out "all aboard" over the microphone and you get a card! Also, when we were there in December, the ferry boat Skipper on the lake at the World Showcase in Epcot had trading cards to give out - they were about safety at WDW. We had fun collecting those, too!
:woohoo:

You can get trading cards from the bus drivers also.

My kids had a great ime collecting cards from the different types of transportation drivers.

On one of our trips we were the only passengers going to Downtown Disney early in the morning. (We got our times wrong and arrived about 45 minutes before opening).

Anyway, the driver chatted with us and let the boys "drive" the bus. We have pictures of each of them behind the wheel! And DTD was kind of neat with no one there.. we got lots of interesting shots and found those machines you put quarters in to look across the lake.

Am headed to the House of Mouse in a couple months. One of the things we are planning to do this trip is to spend a day at Busch Gardens. Anyone been there and have tips for a day there? The hubby is not a fan of roller coasters and other thrill rides ... although I will probably do a couple on my own.

Pack a collapsable duffle in your suitcase when you leave home. This will give you an extra bag to bring home all your Disney Loot! Especially if you have kids.

Whew! Just finished going through every page of this terrific thread. I like the idea of the over-the-door shoe organizer for keeping toiletry items organized and off the counter, but noticed that some people have had trouble with these actually fitting over the door. Here's a potential solution: use a hanging gift wrap organizer instead.

I bought one of these a couple of years ago from either Walmart or Dollar Tree (can't remember which) and I still haven't used the darn thing really. It's got two long skinny pockets (might be good for holding an umbrella, no?), some smaller shorter pockets, and one big, deep pocket in the center. But best of all, the way you hang it over the door is by sticking a coat hanger through the pre-cut opening in the top. So, if you use this and get one of the plastic hangers that has a hook that can swivel 360 degrees, you should be able to hang this over the door no problem.

We're planning on taking this with us when we go, so it'll finally get some use and we'll stay organized and clutter-free! :)

A tip I heard from a CM was to take a picture of your photopass card(s) so if you lose on you still have the number to upload when you get home.

5 days it took me to read all of these. I got 3 pages of tips saved.

105 days and counting!!:yay::woohoo:

We all got hats last time we went to Disney. When it was horribly hot in the early afternoon we would stop at one of the drink stands and ask for some ice. We'd put it in our hat and then the hat on our heads. It really cooled us down and we didn't mind getting a little wet because it felt so good.

lots of info here....still going through it all...

has anyone gone through and organized this into one document?

If I get to developing it (wishful thinking) I will post it here....

We used some of the tips we had received before our first trip in December and they were perfect. One that was sort of mentioned in the begining was getting in the left line for rides but the tip given to us was when you get to the park go to the left because most people are right handed and they instinctivly(sp?) go to the right, for example at MK we went to frontier land first and made our way around backwards and let me tell you it was amazing, we had hardly anyone in the lines for rides by the time the crowds made it frontier land we were in fantasyland and it was the same way, no lines or crowds!!!Also had a multi zipper fannypack, was best thing I ever bought.Ziplock bags as already mentioned,Copies of back of tix, ponchos, and getting to parks for rope drop.was able to take afternoons off to relax and that was heavenly, and most important, walk, walk, walk, ahead of time to get used to it,it is a huge reality check for someone to walk that much and trust me when I say your feet will love you for it!!!!!:lmao:
