Hey there,

Haven't eaten at Jiko before but after reading some great reviews I think we'll try it.

What do you recommend there?

Thanks :goodvibes

The filet with mac and cheese is wonderful!!! :cloud9: I can't bring myself to try anything else. The Kalamata Olive Flatbread is a great appetizer.

I second the filet with the macaroni and cheese. We have eaten there 3 times, and still is the only thing we have ordered. We enjoy it so much, we haven't tried anything else. I am sure everything else is wonderful too.

For appetizers, the flatbreads are fantastic. Deserts are all incredible.

We ate there twice when we stayed at AKL in 2006. Eight different entrees and several different appys and desserts. Each one was better more exciting taste sensation than the last. It is one of those dinners where you spend the mel loving what you have but envying everyone elses dish. Enjoy.

that's the exact same meal I had.
LOVED IT!!!!!

add a bottle of Delheim wine and it's perfect.

seriously...this is the best bottle of wine we have ever had
Dehiem Gewürztraminer

It's south african wine. Simular to a Reisling (if you've ever had one)
It's the cleanest, freshest tasting wine we've had.
Fruity and wine no strong alcohol after taste.

I highly recommend it with your meal. It is pricy $48 i think but it really adds a really nice touch to dinner especially if this is a romantic couples night out.

We're coming back down in Jan. I'm going to look and see if they have it in the gift shop. (i've heard they sell wines there)

I used to really like the maize and sweet potato tamales, but they are off the menu, my recommended appetizer is now the coffee-bbq-chicken flatbread, which is a little tart, but good.

Can you believe I've never tried an entree at Jiko?

I have tried five desserts though, and my favorite is the pistachio creme brulee.

I love the halibut with sweet potato crispies. It's my favorite main course at WDW.

We love the Taste of Africa as an appetizer and the Fillet and Mac & Cheese

The berbere braised lamb shank is wonderful. Jiko is a fantastic opportunity to experiment with something you've never tried before. Step away from the filet, branch out, you won't be sorry. :thumbsup2

:lmao: This is exactly what I was thinking as I read all the replies. We were at Jiko a year ago. I got the filet because of all the hype on the Dis. Yes, it was delicious, but my thought was, why did I not branch out? I can get filets this good at home. We must be spoiled in Indiana!:rotfl:

I like the Curried Shrimp dish. I don't order the steak with mac and cheese because I can't think of a more American dish. Not exotic at all.

i just looked at the menu on allears, and is it true that the grains entree is gone? it had been recommended to me, and i made an ADR there for my trip in november. i see now a stuffed pepper w/risotto...anyone try this? or am i going to have to go in a different direction there?

My wife has had the Filet w/mac and cheese and I've only had the pork tenderloin in our three visits to Jiko. I really want to try more things but my mouth starts watering just making the ADR's.

That is what I want to try when we eat there! Once I saw the picture of the mac & cheese..I have to try it.

The ostrich appetiser! This was the first time I tried ostrich (if you don't do it at Jiko, where else are you gonna?) and it was amazing! Like a really really tender steak- yum! And the halibut is good too- the sauce is lick-it-off-your-plate good! xx

This places interests me a great deal. I really want to try it on our next trip. Thanks for all the recommendations. Were going to shoot for a dinner ressie there.
