We're crunching the numbers to figure out what passes to buy this year and we're thinking of getting one AP but can't decide if it's worth it because we don't know what that gets you other than free parking. So what other discounts do you get with an AP?

Is that just at World of Disney or other places too?

Every "Disney Owned" store. Which means some of the World Showcase stores and a few others you don't, but virtually every place you do get the discount.

WoD has the same discount for a Disney Visa Card.

Thanks. The problem is I can't be 100% sure we will get back within a year. If we go back, it's a no brainer to get the AP as it's cheaper than 2 5-day passes.

If you are DVC its pretty easy to go the ap route too.

Ap holders also get Passholder room only rates which can be not bad. But I think in 10 years I took it once. Between it not always being offered and using DVC.

In addition to the 10% merch discount, there's also a 15% on most tours (Keys to the Kingdom, etc) if you're into that kind of thing. It takes a little research, but several TS restaurants offer a 10% discount w/o TiW, too.

can seasonal or annual pass holders receive free dining?

Yep, they still have to buy tickets, I think it's 2 day base for everyone in their party now. And you can't use your AP Discount on the room, so you are paying rack rate for the room.

Forgive my stupidity but why would a seasonal pass holder buy a ticket?

To get free dining. You have to buy a package including room and tickets.

I haven't crunched the numbers but I can't imagine that "free" dining is worth buying park passes on top of your APs.

Anyway, I think we'll skip the AP this time around since we aren't sure we'll be back within the year. Thanks for the info.

.

Prior passholders being allowed to buy the D*DP with Room-Only. Many passholders bought tickets, then next renewal cycle you just upgrade the tickets to a AP renewal.

It means you loan Disney a couple of 100$ interest free for a few months. But people did and do it.
