So, I just got off the phone and booked us in PORR for Dec 13-20.

I had my fingers crossed for a PIN code attached to my name and sure enough there was one! Yahoo.

however, the rate I got with my PIN discount is the same as the quote I got online

WHAT UP WIT' DAT?????? :confused3

Hmmm, did the CM tell you what the PIN was for? I know there has been a PIN out there for people that book a value with QS Free Dining to get the upgrade to the regular dining plan for free.

If that was the code, then you would see the same rate, as you booked a moderate rather than a value (does that make sense)?

Yes that makes sense. She said "Oh look you have a pin attached to your name." You are booking at PORR so you have a choice between a waterview or standard."

I am now wondering if she meant I could have gotten the waterview for the standard view rate! I asked well the standard is cheaper right? thinking if it was included she would say so, but maybe she didn't get my meaning?

darn darn darn!!!

Call back and talk to another CM to doublecheck.

I got a 40% off PIN last year that covered the dates I was going in September 2008. I called and got some quotes, but they sounded high to me. I checked against their website while I was on the phone with the CM and they were the rack rate. I asked her why the discount wasn't being applied. It turned out the PIN I had received and provided to her was in my former, married name. I'd changed my last name after my divorce and she wasn't going to let me use the PIN. She never told me she wasn't applying the discount and was acting like she was giving me discounted quotes. She also told me I couldn't use the 40% off PIN if I was booking the dining plan. I hung up, called back later that evening and got a much more helpful CM. He was able to apply the 40% off to the resort I wanted and with the meal plan. That's when I learned never to trust the information a CM gives you if it doesn't seem right. Always call back.

I am going to call back and see what is said..

Something else as well, the CM I had tried telling me that after the 17th of Dec I would have to pay full price for the dining plan b/c that is the expriy date. I said No I was told about a month ago that as long as I check in before the 17th my whole trip (Dec-13-20) would be granted the free dining plan. She put my on hold to go check out.

I realize this is easy to happen, but at the same token, what other things could as well that we don't know about...??

No offense to the CM's b/c but I would think that they know that a discount such as this will be applied.....in this situation anway.

She was very friendly and helpful on a side note. Just uninformed ?

anywho...my two cents worth

May I ask...what # do you call when you make your reservations? I would love to find out if I had a pin/code waiting for me...how do people know if they have one-or does Disney just keep it a secret until you call???

Any update? I also thought that losing the free dining package info was correct now b/c 'packages' could be billed per day. Last year Disney updated its pricing structure so that they could charge you different rate if your trip spanned 2 'season's such as value and peak season. Such as you started your trip on last day of value season you get one day at that rate and then the rest are the peak season rate. I would love to know if this didn't apply for free dining b/c there has been a couple of times we could go at the end of the promo but it wouldn't be worth it just to have a day or two included in our trip.

Okay, I called back based on the advice I got on here.

I said I was told I had a pin and given a discount but it is the same quote I got online. The CM checked out the PIN attached to my name and said it is the free dining. She also said it had been attached to my name for a long time, and I had no clue! We were in WDW last Dec so not that long anyway!

So b/c I booked at a moderate already the dining is included with the current promo. However if I would have booked value the upgrade would have been given to me. So that is super great but we have to stay at PORR so we can sleep 5 in a room. Gramma is coming this trip!

I asked a billion questions like how are PINS handed out =randomly. If i have one pin on my name does that mean I won't get another = no. If I get another pin can i add it to my current reservation=depends on the two different discounts, some you can only get one or another. Tried asking if she new what the next promo would be, maybe buy 4/get 3 free= even if she new she wouldn't tell me! LOL She did say that half the time people call and tell them about these promos before they have even gotten word. How do you normally get PINs= mainly email, odd times in the mail. If you get an email from Disney and see the little PIN and number in the corner call them!

As for the question about the dining promo prices ending right in the middle of my tip (Dec 13-20) Nope, I got the free dining for each night, even though this promo ends to the public on the 17th. BONUS!!!

I got the free dining pin back in April or May. When the Disney Visa free dining came out I priced that and it was the exact same price. When the public free dining came out I priced that and it was the exact same price (I'm booked at a moderate). I then got yet another pin for free dining and priced it out and got, you guessed it, the same price. There was already a public code at that point for the last pin yet they sent it out anyway. For people staying at value resorts, the pin was worthwhile as it provided the basic DDP instead of the QSDP, but for anybody staying moderate or above, it was identical to the public offer.
