OK, Here is the number one thing I wish I would have picked up on this board before our trip. I WANT TO GO BACK... SOON! I really thought 2006 would be our once in a lifetime trip but we all had such a good time we can't wait to go back even my grumpy DH(who DID NOT want to go even once) got up early every day and loved the whole experience. Plus now every other theme park will be a "It's not Disney" experience. I am hooked! I am stilling reading this board and my vacation is over :sad2: I also wonder if the experienced DIS'ers read our trip reports and laugh at how inefficiently the first timers tour the place but maybe our enthusiam makes up for it. :rotfl2:

you got it bad........rofl.......We go to Disney and come home satisfied and then two or three weeks later .....OH LETS LOOK FOR AIR FARE......fun isn't it.....these reports are another way of besides learning about Disney but also the neat things we may of missed out on......Glad that you had a great time..I remember when our grandkids went with us and then the fourth of july fireworks here at home were happening and the kids thought ......did they break some ......where are the fire works like Disney........HAHAHA......
Thanks for your trip report too.......it was awesome

I agree with Pumba. I once read-if you feel a little blue after your vacation, it means you had a great vacation. Wierd, huh!

I know what you mean. I first and only time I went back in '95 we did no planning at all. When we went to MK we totally missed Frontierland like it didn't even exist!! There were so many things we missed but yet we had a ball. I couldn't wait to go back!! Now for this trip coming up we are armed with major DIS knowledge and it should be completely awesome!

I am feeling the same way.We went in Sep. me,dh,ds,dd,dd,ds,mom and dad.We had the best time ever.We had 9 days of fun I never wanted to leave. As soon as we were home I was looking to see when we can go back.I will tell you that my youngest asks me just about every day when can we go to Disney.I just hug him and say soon baby soon.He just loved it he was 3 and has turned 4 since, but he remembers every thing we did.Splash Mountain was his favorite and is crazy about the rabbit and he says why was that wolf holding the bunny's ears that's not nice,he can tell me everything about the ride, while I hardly paid attention because I kept thinking about the drop :scared1: Even my mom and dad who have been there many times say when is the next trip.It was the first time on property and with many table service and charater meals. Sorry I keep going it is just that I loved it there and everyday want to be there again :yay:

Isnt it funny how you are suddenly addicted? We werent even back 3 weeks when we got some Christmas money from DH's family, that night we decieded to go back in Dec 2006. Book it with in a couple of weeks. I didnt even have all the film developed yet but we were going back!!!! We did the "lifetime" trip in 2005, cirque, princes tea, wonderland tea, etc. for a week. So this time dd isnt doing all those things (the costs really added up on that trip) but she is thrilled to go back again and I am surprising her with bibbity boutique this trip. She doesnt even know it exists!

You cannot explain the feeling to someone who has never been, but to anyone that has experienced it, they understand completely. We went for our first trip 2 years ago. I wanted my youngest to be able to remember it if we were going to take this "once in a lifetime trip". My kids were 12, 10, & 8 then. After being at WDW for a week and loving every minute we decided we would come back in 5 years. Well.....last summer we decided we were going back this year. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc This time we will be taking our kids 14, 12, & 10 and also my stepdaughter & granddaughter who is 3. It is an addiction. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Isn't it nice to know you're not alone.

It's a strange but wonderful addiction! :sunny:

Our once in a lifetime trip was in 04. We had traveled to other places and thought this would be the same. The week after we got back I kept thinking things like, at this time right now last week we were riding Space Mountain, stuff like that. I started planning another trip feeling like it had been so long since we got home and really it had only been 2 months. I had never felt this way about a vacation destination before.

We went again in June of 05 for 8 days and when we got home I was glad to be home and didn't want to go back for another couple of years so I planned a cruise. Well it only took 3 weeks before I cancelled the cruise and booked our October trip. They must put something in those Mickey bars.

:rotfl2: I'm right there with you!!!! We took our "once in a lifetime" trip last summer. I knew we would be back though since our little guy was only 1 on the trip. HOWEVER, at the end of my trip report I said something to the effect of waiting until he was about 9 or 10 since my DD was perfect age.

Well...let's just say I'm already plotting a trip again in about 3 years (I would go tomorrow if I could but with a larger family it takes us longer to save up! Plus, I will say I will prefer not to deal with diapers there, so I don't mind the wait too much. :rotfl: ).

Unfortunately, my DH isn't a convert and he didn't like the crowds, so I was looking at the school schedule and am contemplating doing something I said I would never do and that is pull the kids out of school. We usually get a very long weekend for Columbus day (1/2 Thursday, Friday off plus Monday) so was thinking if I did that in 2009 - the following Friday is my little guy's birthday - how can I pass that up! So, 4 days of pulling out of school but will be able to celebrate the Halloween party and a birthday. Oh wait, DD reminded me that I told them maybe for their 16th birthday's we could go to WDW, etc... She offered for the Oct. trip to be her 16th birthday one (since her birthday is only 5 months later and no way could I pull her out TWICE in one school year - even though she's my easiest one to pull out).

So, I've already been planning where we will stay (we have 6 so cabins for us), we know after our last trip definitely will be staying ON-SITE - we parked the car and never touched it again. Looking through what we did, what we want to repeat, what we can skip, what we didn't get to, etc... It's quite addicting. pixiedust:

Can I join the Once in a Lifetime Trip Club? Ours was in 2004. We had a great time. Since that time my husband and I have gone back for a convention. (Just hate it when it's in Orlando! :teeth: ) When we got back we missed it so much. We are now going to our "O.k., after this trip we will plan to go somewhere else next time" trip. June 1st is my last day of work (teacher) and we are hitting the road for Orlando!! We can't wait. :cool1: :Pinkbounc :woohoo: :rockband: party: :jumping1:

:cool1: I have to chime in here too! Last May 05 we took our first trip with the kids, DS8, DD2. My son and daughter loved it! My husband likes it okay but is fine with waiting for another five years or so, before we take the kids again. And yet here I am on the DISboard each day, just soaking in the atmosphere.

I can dream can't I!! :wizard:

Our family took our first trip to the World last Oct. We went for 10 days with free dining. I planned and planned and was concerned that I was setting myself up for dissappointment because I (we) had such high expectations. Let me say...it was better than we could have dreamed. We had a ball. My children - DS11 and DD6 did not argue at all. No one complained about waiting in line, the crowds, the heat, the humidity...nothing!!! Nothing spoiled our fun. We felt we were in a magical place. We absolutely did not want to leave. I think there were some tears shed as we left. As soon as we were home we were all a bit depressed - even my DH. All we want to do is go back to WDW. I can't believe we all feel so strongly about a place. It must be something in the water. :rotfl2:

The good thing is it is a better addiction than some other things. LOL

No one understands why I go so much unless they have been there and loved it too.

My 86 yo great Aunt went with me to WDW for the 1st time in Dec 2004, now you can't plan a trip without her! She loves it there and is amazed at how many things you can do. She tells everyone she meets.

At least you know there are alot of other people with the same addiction.

you all are scaring me!!! I am planning the BIG TRIP to WDW for me and DD..Her 5th my 25th.....Secretly I'm already trying to figure out how to make another trip though!!!! and we haven't even been!!!

This is SO cool to read. I've been a disney freak for as long as I can remember - I was there in my mother's womb, forgodsake!

Now I'm planning a trip for November with 5 disney virgins and I can't wait to get them addicted too!

I must admit that our first trip was going to be our "once in a lifetime" trip. Before I went I couldn't imagine going back again. Boy, was I wrong. We love travelling to National Parks around the country, but I also enjoy returning to Disney!

DH and I got back from our 10th trip in December......well, you guessed it, i came right back to the boards after our trip and we are now going again in sept 06!

i want to go all the time- he said he would like to alternate with other things (other things?-- what else is there? he likes us to do his mexico all inclusives.

so i am such a brat- i said fine- so i doubled our vacation budget and told him we can each pick a trip every year!......and i did this just to support my disney habit!

YOU KNOW WHERE I AM PICKING!

Last year my Dad said, "Hey, we have an extra week for our timeshare, wanna take the kids to Disney?" I thought, sure, why not, could be fun, let's give it a try. Well I found these boards and the rest is history. That was our first trip in May 05.

This year we planned a trip for my Dh's whole family. His sister planned her trip of a lifetime. She kept calling me asking me about stuff she had heard from friends. I would tell her about it and say, "Are you sure you want to add that, it's pretty expensive?" She would always say, "This is our one and only trip to WDW, we won't get another chance to do this." They did CRT, HDDR, CM, Discovery Cove, Sea World, ...

You guessed, once they got home and started unpacking the plans began to formulate for the "next trip", in two years.

I have a few fanantic neighbors that I talk to about "it", my support group. I don't even bother trying to explain it to outsiders, they just think you are insane.
