What DIS boardisms bug you?

My pet peeve is mostly on the restaurant and resort boards....I HATE it when some posts about a bad stay or a bad meal and then 50 others feel the need to post the "well, when we went it was wonderful so there must be something wrong with you" type of responses.

I also hate all the "how do I get an upgrade" and "we didn't get towel animals" threads.

Oh...and the begging for tags. Ugh...

My three biggest pet peeves:

The entitlement posts- people who always think something is owed them. You know the ones - "I want an upgrade", "I want a tag", "I want a towel animal".

People who post a question about something when the answer is clearly in another post 3 or 4 away. Much like what CamColt said on 10 threads about a new topic. On the cruise board you can have 3-4 threads saying "new cruiser - give me your tips". Great if there weren't already 3 or 4 threads that had the same thing in the title and people were already giving hints.

Biggest pet peeve - people who are passive agressive in their posts. They know they are stirring up trouble but want to appear to everyone else as the "nice guy".

People who ask for opinions and then get angry when they don't like the answers. I can see being bothered by rude answers but sometimes it appears that they just want everyone to agree with them.

Pet peeve...hmm, it would have to be people not reading a moderator's post at the beginning of a forum before posting.

O.K. after shrinking my signature a bit, ensuring that I have a proper title to my post, keeping my post short (with paragraph breaks of course),watching for proper grammer, eliminating abbreviations and making sure not to repeat other's thoughts, point out current events, give too much information, or ask for a "tag", here is my not too nasty pet peeve which may or may not (depending on your opinion) suggest entitlement is OK and may or may not agree with your opinion - so pls don't flame me.

Mine is people who take other's cheating the rules on codes or other policies so personally. Go ahead and tell them that what they are suggesting is against policy. Go ahead and point them to the correct behavior. Then drop it and move on.

I think these boards are about people who like/love Disney and are looking for ways to enhance their vacations. We all use what ever information we obtain to our own advanatage and to give ourselves a leg up so to speak on the uninformed visitor. Somewhere there is a line that folks may be crossing and it is really hard to define for sure what that is. I just think that in trying to define it, we beat each other up a bit too much.

ok, so what about "spelling"????? a few examples~ their/there, too/to, so/sew.... Can we get a spell/grammar check button installed here/hear??

Plus, I know I should preview all of my replies, because these "boxes" are just too darn small... I don't see my spelling errors until I post, but at least I know what the edit button is for (well, most of the time any way) :teeth:

The offsite vs onsite fight
The Universal vs Disney fight
The parent vs non-parents fight
The Ruben vs Clay fight
The Democrats vs Republicans fight

But HEY, isn't this LIFE?
:teeth:

I don't know if you can call this a pet peeve but it bothers me when somebody misunderstands someone here. It's hard to write what one really means sometimes.

......And probably after this post one will complain about the over usage of "some"!!!:teeth: :bounce:

ahh.. I'm so in the mood to gripe so here it goes! :)

*Posters that have been around long enough to know better but break guidelines anyway and then play the innocent card when called on it.

*Posters who complain about anothers grammer or spelling and have mistakes in their own post

*Punctuation people! Lets have some punctuation!

*People who can't accept a view outside of their own and can even get downright rude in their replies and tell people they are stupid or to get a grip. They need to get a grip - last time I checked there isn't anyone on the planet that is right 100% of the time.

*Passive aggressivness, poop sandwiches and hiding insults by adding smiley faces after it

*posts with excessive sound. A wav that is 2-5 seconds is okay but I won't bother to read a post that has too much sound. I find it distracting and just back out of it.

*people get mad at people that talk behind their backs and then go and talk about it behind their backs

*posts with images so big that it alters the size of the page

*Instigators - especially those that say they aren't instigating

*this is something I'll get flamed for - people who ask questions that they could have found the answer to themselves probably faster than the time it took them to write the post. I know we are an information website but geez louise - don't ask what the price of something is or where the bus stops, etc, when it is probably clearly posted in a section of our website linked to off the home page! I know, I'm just crabby.

*People that believe that they are above guidelines

*mean people - but I don't know what is worse, straight out mean people or people that are "subtly" mean

*The "ME" mentality - it's all about "ME", lets talk about "ME", "I deserve to get this, "I" can do this but not you.

* People who make up stories about their lives and sucker people into feeling sorry for themselves. Yep, does happen!

*SIGH* That's enough griping for now. Guess I've been moderating just a bit too long :(

Mommy Police

Those who feel they know everything about raising children & will tell you that you are wrong. They will also tell you that if you do not do things "right", you are stupid & must not care about your kids.

The only thing I can think of that has made me roll my eyes is when someone posts something negative about Disney and others jump in with the "Just be thankful you get to go to Disney" line.

When I first started coming here, I was a little amazed at some people's blind devotion to Disney, to the point of jumping on any poster who dared say something against the place.

Lori P. :)

Just two things bug me.

When you start a thread and nobody replies.

and Abbrs. IMO.

I personally hate it when people write things like Vaca, and siggie.

For some reason it makes me want to scream.

Love that clippie in your siggie, Meagan ;) <i><b>I'm teasing!</b></i>

I use my back button a lot to avoid my pet peeves which are political "discussions" usually.

I love my back button :)

Long posts with no paragraghs. Eek! Break ut up!

Hugs and pixie dust being given are cool. But when they are given to someone who needs to be more responsible for their actions and not enabled....I think it is wrong. It is best not to answer or answer privatly rather than give someone suport who is being irresponsible!

Responses on the resorts board like "if you don't do this your trip will be ruined" drive me nuts.

Spelling errors, especially a lot spelled alot and there, their, they're used incorrectly.

Not putting where you live. If someone posts in the middle of the winter, without a State and/or city, it was 90 degrees, it has a lot more punch if you're from Maine then if you're from Hawaii.

The Disney can do no wrong people.

All pretty minor stuff concidering how nasty some of the other boards I've been on can get. I think most of the folks here are really nice. :D

Roberta

Yes, I wish everybody had at least a STATE in their location!

Oh, Preshi you made me think of another...When people say "preggers" instead of pregnant (and no Im not saying Ive ever heard you say it, LOL!). Prego isnt too bad, but preggers drives me insane!!!:teeth:
