what did you wish you had brought with you on first cruise ?

OH! On my very first cruise I totally forgot to bring my pins and was upset to find most of what I was looking for is on the ship--especially during the "Officer Pin Trading"

While it wasn't our first cruise, it was our first cruise on the Fantasy. I wish that we had brought our own box of Crayola wide magic markers for the Animated Show in Animators's Palette. We were only provided three markers on our table, with five people drawing and the color selection was limited. Our server wasn't able to locate more and my son (who is on the autism spectrum and has some fixations about certain things) was upset that there was no black marker. He also disagreed with his sister over her "hogging" the lone red marker.

This time, two 8 count boxes of wide Crayola markers are being packed.

I cut a sponge up and add dish soap on a couple of chunks and store in baggie to be used to clean my travel mugs/cup...they are perfect for cleaning morning coffee and then iced tea..

Thanks for the heads up! :cool1:

Wow great! What type of markers are they? Do they use dry erase or washable markers ? Thx!

The markers for the show are just regular washable markers, since you draw the little man on paper there is no need for dry erase markers.

On our 2nd and 3rd cruises, I forgot to bring the arcade cards from previous cruises, which still have some funds on them. They're on the list for #4, though!

On our second Disney cruise, I brought these big clothespins (purchased at Dollar Tree), and used them to pin our wet swimsuits to the deck chairs in our balcony - so they wouldn't fly off...they dried in no time!

I also bought (again...at Dollar Tree), a couple of pop-up clothes hampers. Used then inside the closet for dirty laundry, and it was easy to grab and carry to the laundry room to do laundry. And at $1 each...I just left them behind instead of trying to fold it back into that tiny package (I can't ever get them back the way they come).

I bring less and less each cruise. But one thing I bring now that I didn't' on my first cruise was binoculars. I and the kids like to look out into ports we're at or as we move out from port. Even if you have an inside room it might be fun to use on deck. As long as I have clean socks, underwear, money, and proper ID the rest is gravy to me. Enjoy!

Small bottle/tube of Crazy Glue
Last cruise DS pirate sword broke in luggage. If I had small bottle of that I could have simple fixed it. Room attendant did help us out by gluing it with some epoxy. We actually didn't even ask him to do so. DH ran into home one morning and asked if he fixed it he said yes, but not to tell anyone since the epoxy was his personal stash and the crew wasn't supposed to have it. DS still thinks Mickey magically did it.
DH also broke his phone charger, so it could have helpedyhere too.

Our own water proof camera. Picked one up Cozumel and another in Nassau when we went to the beach and paid a lot more for them. I could have went to the local drugstore and got about 6 for the price. Both my kids were getting into seeing the fish and both wanted one. Christmas present to myself this year was a go pro for our next underwater excursion.

If you are a first time cruiser, bring a Lanyard with a card holder so that you can carry your card with you easily around your neck. When I went last winter, only previous castaway club members were handed those great lanyards at check in. All new cruisers got nothing like that at check in and I had to buy one.

Bring laundry soap in those dry single-dose pellets (not the liquid ones) to use at the on-board laundromats.

If you have kids who will be seeing the characters, bring your own AUTOGRAPH BOOK and pens. You can bet you will shell out a ton to buy them onboard.

As for Wine, You probably know you ARE allowed to bring your own on board, but you may not know that you can pour yourself a glass (of your own in your room) and carry it to dinner instead of buying it? No one will care if you do that.

Other thing is that the BEST way to travel from the airport to the cruise port is to rent a one-way car rental. The caveat to that is that is it probably cheaper to use a shuttle service if you are travelling alone or only with 2 of you. We rented a passenger van for about 8 of us at once, and it was the easiest thing!

Enjoy! :beach::beach:

I took several pieces of paper towel and put a small amount of dish soap on them and folded them up (the soap soaked in) and put them in a zip lock bag. So every time my travel mug needed to be cleaned, I would take one piece of the paper towel, give it a good clean and toss it!

We always cut a sponge in about for pieces soak with soap let dry and put in ziplock bag. Always worked great for resort

I buy those small bottles of air freshener from Bath & Body Works. Sweet Pea is my favorite! One squirt will last quite a while! Very concentrated stuff. :D
What brand and type of bathroom freshener do those of you who bring one use? Does Febreze make a travel size?

Def less clothes, but a sweater is necessary. Also, agree with bringing your own cup(2sips out of those kid cups & you're done :)) for the ladies a small purse/clutch for dinner to put kttw card/camera/ lip gloss, etc. Last 2 suggestions are downy wrinkle release spray(saves you from having to iron)& no iron hem tape(can be used for pretty much anything cause its double sided tape)

Binoculars, especially if you have a verandha. I had them on my list to bring but forgot them and it would have been nice to have them.

I second Downy Wrinkle Release. Learned about it here on the DIS last year, and it's traveled with us ever since!
