what did you wish you had brought with you on first cruise ?

funny thing is that i am looking forward to bringing more clothes next time. I followed all the advise about wearing shorts multiple times, etc etc on my prior cruises. To be honest, i was way overweight and didn't have that many things that i felt looked good on me. When i go on my next cruise, i will be 100 - 110 lbs lighter. One of my goals is taking cuter day clothes and a couple very nice evening dresses from years past that i will fit into again.

impressive!!

I'm confused about the aerosol comments. We travel with 2-3 large bottles of spray sunscreen. Never had a problem. Maybe it's an international issue?

It is fine in your checked luggage, just not in your carry on luggage.

You are the person who can help me! We fly out on Air Canada in less than 2 weeks. I don't seem to have much luck getting answers from them. I am trying to find out if Air Canada will let us take Lysol wipes in our carry-on. I'm talking the little pack of 15 wipes (not a big plastic jug). They have a nice lookup feature on the Canadian TSA site, but wipes are not listed at all. Also - I wear gel insoles because of a problem with my feet. I sent an email a few months ago and got a reply saying gel insoles were expressly forbidden, but on that same lookup feature on the TSA site it say gel bras and "similar prosthetics" are allowed. Wouldn't gel insoles be "similar"? I am wondering if I was given an incorrect answer the first time.

I travel air canada all the time the insoles would be a problem thats why they xray shoes now but the wipes theres no problem because people with children use them all the time flying the trick for your insoles just pack them in your back that goes under the plane and there should be no problem or get Dr sholls with no gel in them thats what i did for flying hope it helps

Aloe Vera and much less clothing = matched shirts with one to two pair of slacks...

I'm not in the majority here but I do change 3 times a day... I wear one outfit in the morning/afternoon, change for dinner, then a workout type comfy outfit for post dinner, so if that's the kind of person you are don't let it worry you that most say less clothes because having more is okay too!

Things I pack that I have found to be helpful are zip locks, liquid hand soap, clorox wipes to sanitize the room as soon as we arrive, a light purse for dinner, a drawstring backpack for during the day, water bottle for ice water and tumbler for other drinks.

My next cruise will be totally different from my first one, this one will be to Alaska...I love jeans and sweatshirts so that will be my wardrobe for the trip. Oh, capris and shirt for dinners and maybe one "pants outfit for dressy dinner.. I may stick a pair of shorts in just in case:)

Great thread. We have been on several DCL cruises, but there always seems to be something that I wish I had brought.

I always pack a hamper. Its a pop up hamper from IKEA. Once folded it fits in the bottom of my suitcase taking up no room at all. Takes up very little room in the cabin. We always add a few in port days to the back and front end of our cruise but only pack for 4 days. I do laundry once during the trip and the basket is great for transporting closes back and forth and keeping all the dirty stuff seperate.

We also always pack a collapsible carryon size suitcase. It alsom fits in the bottom of a larger suitcase. It's great for toting home those FE gifts and souvenirs.

I took several pieces of paper towel and put a small amount of dish soap on them and folded them up (the soap soaked in) and put them in a zip lock bag. So every time my travel mug needed to be cleaned, I would take one piece of the paper towel, give it a good clean and toss it!

I do the same for all of our vacations. But these come in especially handy for the Tervis tumblers that we usually buy onboard or at CC! :)

I've been looking for a product like this! DD10 is a super blond, competitive swimmer year round. She's in a pool 5-7 days a week. Her hair is a mess no matter what we do. I'm going to have to try this. I have long hair too, but I typically leave it braided the whole vacation to avoid the tangle.
It was a great tip from my hair dresser when I told her I was worries about mermaid training all winter in the pool (laps with our monofins). She says to spray it on first as it seals the cuticle. It helps some after but spraying it before keeps it feeling silky even in the water so it doesn't knot up. The Lil girls on the I'm team had it too but they did say it made the swim cap more slick. But at least for the cruise before and after swims, you will be as thankful as I was. My hair is down to my butt and fully highlighted so I wanted to keep the ends healthy. This stuff really is a Miracle!

A door stopper to keep the door open at times.

We were able to get one from our stateroom host when we had connecting cabins, to keep the door open between the two.

It is also useful if there is any type of door that aways with the motion of the ship.

we had connecting doors on the Wonder and they did something to the top of the doors to stay open all the time

For long hair, bring a travel size of Its A 10 Miracle spray leave in. Use before and after pools and oceans. I actually could swim and snorkel with my long mermaid hair loose and flowing thanks to that stuff, and actually comb thru it after! Amazing! It will cut down on the amount of actual conditioner you need to pack. I used to pack travel sizes of shampoos and conditioners but then I would be completely desperate for every drop of conditioner with these Rapunzel locks, so I won't dare not pack a regular (but not jumbo),size conditioner and shampoo. But the Miracle really made my hair manageable and was a big time saver getting ready. I wouldn't swim ocean or pool without it!
Is this the product that you are talking about?!? Sounds like a lifesaver for my 8 year old.

I think I would try to bring a small alarm clock. Our cabin on the Magic did not have a clock, which I didn't realize. I like being able to open one eye and see what time it is.
