DH and I have ressies at V&A for June. DH already has a jacket and all that to wear because of work. I on the other hand am a SAHM and the PTA doesn't call for a lot of cocktail dresses:) Can you show me pictures of what you wore when you went? Thank you so much!!!!

I don't have a picture but I can tell you what I wore in december. It was a short grey dress with round silver circles at the top. I wore black tights and heels with it. I don't exactly call it a cocktail dress b/c I wear it to church/restaurants around atlanta with leggings and ballet slippers. I just dressed it up a bit with heels and tights. I would say most women were in skirts or shorter dresses.

I also don't have pics, sorry. But I have been to V&A several times. I have worn skirt/jacket on occasion and I've also worn black simple dresses. Always with dressy heels of some sort.

I would say that the majority of women do not wear what I consider a cocktail dress. Most of the clothing I see are outfits that you would be comfortable wearing to a church program or to a wedding (or a funeral). I've even seen a few women in slacks but most women are a bit more dressed up that slacks.

I, too, always wear heels. I wear dressy shoes to V&A to make it look a little dressier. I would not go out and buy a dress that was too fancy to wear at home on occasion.

Phew.....thank you so much! I am sitting here stressing for nothing LOL Sounds like I will be fine.

You will be fine. Relax and enjoy what will be a very special evening. And you'll be so busy eyeing that food you won't even notice the other diners or what the other women are wearing. :rotfl:

Totally agree with Pakey that you'll not worry about anything around you except your food. Have fun. It's a GREAT meal.

Yes, I agree with the others, you will love V&A! Have a wonderful time! Magical things can happen there...for instance, it is where my DH popped the big question! Oh...I don't typically wear skirts or dresses. My outfit was a black pantsuit from the Chico's Travelers Collection over a black shell (also from the Travelers Collection) with gorgeous funky jewelry and low heels.

Okay, what if you don't wear heels? I just can't stand the things so would some cute flats be okay?

Any kind of dress (not SUN of course!!) with heals will be great. I just love V&A....and you sit down the whole time so the shoes don't even have to be that comfie!! I have been twice now and both times wore a dress that I have worn to wedding receptions, church, awards banquets, benefits, etc. Just nice dresses with heals. Have fun!! I hope you love it!! Get the wine pairings, you'll love em!!

You'll be fine. Heels aren't required at all.

I usually wear a dressy (not fitted) pantsuit with flats. I've seen women in long gowns, little black dresses, etc.. If you wear something you'd be comfortable wearing to a wedding for instance, you'll be fine.

You will love V&A, my dh surprise me a few years ago with dinner at V&A. Thank god we had just taken a DL cruise and had nicer clothes to wear. You will be fine like the other people before me said.

HAVE A GREAT TIME

Do the wine pairing a must:banana:

Mrs U always waers flats at V&A. Most times she'll wear a pants suit (packs much easier than a dress)--once in awhile a long Laura Ashley type dress, with a nice sweater.

I've been twice and both times wore nice slacks and a blouse or twin set with dressy black sandals. (I wear business casual to work, so add some nice jewelry and ta-da!)

Last time we went there was a woman (girl) in there who looked about 19 and was on a date dressed like TINKERBELL. Sure, the dress was black, but it was tinkerbell. She walked in and DH and I looked at each other at the same time with the same expression like "Huh?". :confused3

We're going again in April after a week on the Magic, so I'll have a dress from formal/semi-formal nights. But don't worry AT ALL about what to wear - aside from Tink, I didn't see anyone dressed for prom. Look nice and you'll be fine!

I always opt for the "little black dress" option - simple and elegant and versatile enough that it can be worn just about anywhere. Besides ... who doesn't look good in black?

One time when we took my parents to V&A my mom wore a nice pantsuit and she was not out of place at all.

Have a great time and to echo another poster, be sure to order the wine pairings! :thumbsup2
