What did you (or are you) going to do in your garden or lawn this weekend?

It is starting to feel like fall here. Just a hint of coolness in the air in the mornings. I spent the day shopping Saturday - but today I plan to attend to my gardens. DD has been weeding and cultivating my newer flower beds. As she finishes a bed, I have been sprinkling some slow release fertilizer on them. The last time I put fertilizer on them was when I planted them up in June. They should continue blooming for at least another 2 months before dieing (annuals) or going dormant for the winter (perennials).

I am going to put the fall lawn fertilizer on today too. The lawn looks really good this year. Which is amazing because it had some bad spots at the start of the year that I took the rototiller too and reseeded. Seemed to be just exactly what I needed to do. I think next spring, I am going to have DH rent a power de thatcher and work it over hard before the flush of spring growth.

Then there is the main garden. Plan to soak it and then need to pick the tomatoes. I am overrun with tomatoes at the moment... so I will take a bunch in to work and "share". :) I probably will do some weeding and cultivating... because it is getting away from me a bit in some sections. I have to go easy on that though as my "tennis elbow" is still really bothering me... and unfortunately - weeding seems to really aggravate it.

So.... what are your gardening related tasks this weekend?

Heloo Dixie.

I cut down the perennial garden in the back...all but the black eyed susans.

We are preping the area for the shed which is coming the 23.

I am watering the grass seed which is now my front yard after 2 leaks in a water pipe.

I am doing lots of drawings...trying to figure out whay to do with the backyard.

Oh and I planted a lace ivory lilac I bought on sale in june.

Pull weeds!

I really let them go this summer and with all the rain, they have just taken off! My recently just bought a house and it needs some major TLC (inside has been cleaned and painted and it looks good now, but outside needs some work!)

Yesterday we pulled weeds from her front beds. Also dug up and tossed out a ton of mondo grass (the larger stuff, looks like liriope but it isn't). The lady who lived there before planted it as a border EVERYWHERE and it was just too unkempt and overgrown. We tried to find a home for a very tall cactus, but nobody wanted it, so it got tossed out too. There are tons of tropical (weedy) vines growing between the shrubs. We pulled most of them out but I know there are runners hidden in the ground so it will be a while before they are completely gone. And one spider plant must have been planted out there years ago because we found tons of them in the planting beds and out in the lawn! Yikes! I did dig a few up to bring home, but they will be safely planted in hanging baskets!

Today at our house I pruned my sago palms and also pruned the queen palms. The ginger has sprawled all over the front bed and I need to get in an thin it out. It's the happy hiding place of the monster grasshoppers, so I won't be thinning it out until I'm sure those things have died off! ;)

Hubby and I pulled weeds together. We plan to buy some of that landscape fabric weed block stuff and some mulch this week. His folks are coming on Thursday and I want to get the place looking better!

Also, we marked off the area in our back yard for our Polynesian garden. In a few weeks we plan to dig some holes and move some queen palms back there, move some of the ginger plants, transplant all our hibiscus, purchase some shrimp and xanadu plants and a whole bunch of other things!

I think I need a cup of tea! ;)

Seeing it's Monday morning and it's the first time I've seen this post. I have to answer truthfully, Nothing!

Who say it feels like fall. It might of for a few days last week, but I can tell you it's been hot, hot, hot since Friday. Back up into the 90's again.

I've been too lazy to get outside in the garden lately, with the heat & all, but I did get a Calloway Crabapple today...
Hopefully since it's a little cooler out now I will be able to do some weeding...the girls keep me pretty busy during the day
