Just curious.
My mom is so hard to shop for, she is 79 and doesn't get around as well as she used to, I was going to get her a macy's gift card, but then thought it would mean she has to shop for her own gift......
so far i got her a watch and some slippers, but wanted to get something else.
and yes i am last minute!!!

any ideas or suggestions?

Dad - Flannel PJ's, flannel shirts and heavy socks from LL Bean

Mom - Harry Potter DVD and a scrapbook of our WDW trip.

Mom - bottle of Amazing Grace perfume from Philosophy

Dad - gift card from Home Depot

Those are exactly what they asked for!

My dad is recovering from throat cancer, so my sis, bro and I pitched in and got him a 42" wide screen for the bedroom. The cable man just left, so right now, he's loving life! He also loves his italian leather shoes, so we treated him to a pair.

I got my mom a pair of purple suede snow boots (she's considered the purple lady) and a yellow toaster oven that matches her kitchen. My kids got her a Keurig coffee maker. Love Christmas!:santa:

i got my mom an 8" digital picture frame and my dad and stepmom asked for pajamas (they ask for them every year) so that's what i got them. i got my grandmother (only living grandparent for DH and I) 2 new sweatsuits, because she's always cold and she's lost weight, so the ones she has are too big. we don't do big gifts for the grownups.

I got my mom a digital picture frame 2 christmas ago, and she loved it! thats a big hit for a gift:thumbsup2

We bought a new coat for my mother and a couple of gift cards and a cross stitch kit for my mother-in-law. Does your mom have any hobbies? Perhaps books or dvd's? Maybe a subscription to Netflix?

My mom's getting wine and a gift card. My dad's getting a dvd set, nuts, and bourbon if I can manage getting to the liquor store sometime today.

We're getting my mom a new coat, as the zipper on hers broke. Plus a pairof Mickey Crocs. We got my dad a new blue tooth headset and something else. Plus their combo gift is a new lock-box safe.

My Dad - A book on Purdue football, a Purdue hat, a Purdue toothbrush, and a Don't Tread On Me flag.

My Mom - Susan Boyle's CD and a bunch of stuff for kitchen (she asked for them.)

DH's Dad - A book on the 70's Cincinnati Reds, 2 big boxes of cherry flips, and a box of blueberry candy.

DH's Mom - 2 boxes of Pot of Gold Candy, a box of cookies from Hickory Farms, and a $25.00 gift card to Gordman's.

My parents are 73 and 64, DH's are 84 and 83. If you ask them what they want, they'll tell you nothing. Mom only asked for the kitchen stuff because she saw mine and liked them.

Dad- iPod Nano. I might end up regretting this gift as I will probably end up spending hours teaching him how to use it

Mom- Pandora necklace. I had a hard time coming up with something for her this year. Hopefully she likes it.

My parents are real hard to shop for as they have everything already. A few years back we got them an oil painting. We got one for my Girlfriends parents this year by a popular local artist, Emma Barr.

I say go to a art gallery and get either a painting, or possibly something to hang in a window.

budget is super tight this year as i'm still unemployed, but i got mom a fiber optic gingerbread house (from cracker barrel!) and i'm still trying to figure dad out. he's nearly impossible. one thing i got him i discovered just yesterday that he already has, so now i get to return 1 thing. i also got him 1 Topsy Turvy Upside Down Planter. he wanted it, and i was going to get a few, but i'm not sure how good it is. i might just go ahead and get him a couple more of those, or 1 topsy turvy, and a gift cert. to the shooting range.
they are also getting a framed group picture (not professional) of me and my kids (plus ds's girlfriend and the baby)

What about a snuggie? I know, I know cheesey gift but also practicle (sp).
Does she like to read? How about a Chicken Soup for the Soul book?

I got my mom

Dress pants
Sweater
Shirt
Earrings
Have a LIttle Faith by Mitch Albom

Step-dad

Long-sleeved cotton shirt
Fleece jacket
Pocket watch with a picture of a bass on it
Dutch Oven (can't say that without snickering.)
Flannel pajamas

Omaha Steaks - assortment of meat, fish, chicken & sides. Its nice since they are each individually wrapped. Just make sure they have enough freezer space.

I've done those Fruit a Month clubs too for them. You can do 3, 6, 9 or 12 months usually.

Dad: an ihome for his ipod (and yes, I checked with my Mom first to see if she would mind his music playing out through the speakers )

Mom: two pieces of LeCrueset cookware. She loves Le Crueset (me too!).

Up until my mom died in 2007 I always got my parents actual gifts, usually based on their interests or things I heard them mentioning that they'd like. It was hard, these are two people that have everything they want, and if they do need/want something new they get it themselves. But, I could usually come up with something.

After mom died and after a few failed gift ideas for my dad, I just switched to giving him cash. He likes it because he can get whatever he wants (or blow it at the casino) and unlike a gift card, can't expire or lose value.

My MIL is on a small fixed income and we also give her cash, as Christmas/b-days/mother's day are the only times she lets us help her out financially.

I know cash isn't very personal, but if it's what they want, then it's what they get!!! :)Plus you can do 'personal' with a really nice quality card.

The in-laws got a calendar. Yeah, before you go nuts they have everything and the calendar was made on a Mac by my husband and is full of funny pictures of the whole family, one on each of everyone's birthday and our anniversary. We laughed as a lot of pictures had people toasting with cocktails! They got it already and loved it.

Mom- She got a roundtrip to Virginia to help when her sister died two weeks ago, and a cool umbrella and a DVD of Season 5 of Desperate Housewives.

Dad- he got a full winter outer-wear wardrobe to take to his trip to Norway this year.

My mom asked for a membership to Sam's Club since they moved and there's no longer a Costco within driving distance.

Dad asked for dvds, and I get him a calender every year. He doesn't need/want anything so it was like pulling teeth to even get suggestions for dvds.

I got both my parents hard cover photo books of me and my sister and her 2 kids from Shutterfly - unfortunately that won't work for you but it might be a good idea for next Christmas or the next birthday. I was able to get 4 books with 3 of them being 50% off. My mother in law loved her book I made for her for Christmas - it was a few pictures of my husband as a kid and then pictures of him through the years since we have been together.
