What did you do today to save money?

I called our AAA travel agent and asked her to price our same May reservation with the new code for the free hopper/waterpark options and we'd go with whatever was the better discount. We already had the hoppers, but not the waterparks. We saved about $50 over the AAA discount, plus we now have the waterparks. I doubt we'll use that option (well, maybe) but still, we saved $50 anyway!

Today was a "spendy" day, but it was all things I needed, and I managed to get some great deals. :)

Used coupons at the gro. store to get a FREE box of Electrasol dishwasher tabs (normally $3.99) and also by combining a coupon w/sale got 2 boxes of ds' Quaker Oatmeal for $2.23 TOTAL (normally $3.88 each). They had some other necessities on sale, too, so all in all I spent $54 and but saved over $20!

Went to PetSmart and used our Pet Perks card to get good deals on food and treats for the dogs and cats. Saved about $5 total on an $11 purchase. :thumbsup2

My best deal, though, was on dh's b-day present. He wanted a PS2 game, and from our purchases over the last few months, we'd earned $30 in Best Buy Rewards, plus last night they emailed me a 3-day coupon for 10% off any video game, so ds and I ran up there today and got dh's $40.00 game for $6.35! :cool1:

Oh, and .... we got gas for $1.89/gal. this morning!!

Since both the kids were out today, DH & I decided to go out to lunch. There was a coupon in the paper for $3 off Red Lobster 2 lunch entrees PLUS I got a $25 gift card for Christmas. So DH & I had a nice lunch date for free!! I was also deciding between 2 different items on the menu and I ended up going for the less expensive entree!

I redid two rebate forms for my RAM chip that the rebate people never sent. That will be $40 in 8-12 weeks!

DH was looking for a very expensive tool for work(SDS drill) and instead of buying new, we visited several pawn shops in the area (anyone ever need a shower after walking into those places??) and when we hit the last one, he found exactly what he wanted for $150 off the retail price. When we got to the register, I recognized the owner...he was the little brother of one of my childhood friends and his family lives right around the corner from us! I haven't seen him since we were kids but we recognized each other and chatted for a bit. He gave my DH an extra 20% off the price!

Oh, we also made ressies to visit Citrico's tonight but cancelled because I was home with a stomach flu on Friday and didn't want to chance the travel so we saved that $ too!

Do those count?? :goodvibes

I had to take my son to the eye doc for a pressure check. It's right across the street from the mall. I got an email today from Yankee Candle saying their jar candles are $10. I was very tempted to hit the mall to "save" money but I realized I'd be spending money to save it! :)

No candles for me. :)

Just wanted to say, "Way to go!" It's not "saving" money if you have to spend it - and probably don't NEED it anyway!

I headed downtown and took a PB & J sandwich with me to much on before going to the opera - who says you need a fancy pre-theater dinner? (Plus, the $20 student tickets were a great way to enjoy some culture at a price that's "in the budget!")

I didn't leave the house and managed to avoid online shopping!!!

Oh and I convinced mom to buy my tea (her spending, but me saving woohoo!)

Instead of buying new cushions for my patio furniture,I bought some fabric spray paint. Tomorrow,I'll wash and dry the cushion covers, then paint them. If it works,I'll save about $500.00!!!

Pulled into the parking lot of three restaurants last night--had trouble parking (it was a sign), DS was on the verge of a meltdown, so we went home and I made my famous nachos for dinner. They cost about 1.50, I figured, instead of the 40.00 we would have spent eating out.:thumbsup2

Roadtripper: I would like a recipe for Famous Nachos. My kids and I love nachos from Taco Bell, but the $1.50 version sounds even better!

SATURDAY:

Well, I did find one text book on ebay that was less than my bookstore, even with shipping. It was only a few dollars difference, but it was still cheaper.

My DH's textbook at his college bookstore was $107. He is looking at one on Ebay for a max bid price of $65.

I put some childrens book on loan at the library--they are part of the text list for my writing childrens stories books class. If we only need them for three weeks, I can get by with them. Class starts Tuesday!--so I'll check them out today.

Anybody see that $15 pepsi/frito-lay rebate?

you buy:
1) either 3 12pks, 2 24pks. or 8 2 liters of pepsi; plus
2) 3 9 1/2 oz. bags of frito lay products

I got 2 cubes $6 each = $12
Doritos BOGO = $ 3.49
Tostitos = $ 2.50

I'll end up paying $3.00 for all of it!!:cool1: :cool1:

I was planning on getting just a cube and the doritos anyway, but when I saw this deal I couldn't pass it up! Now to make sure everyone saves the UPCs from the packages....

Is that rebate for coupons? The one I saw was - if I can find one for the cash I will do that for sure!

I would also love the $1.50 Famous Nachos recipe! Please post!!

After carefully reading my "rebate" form, you guys are right. It isn't a cash rebate. It's coupons back. If I had read the fine print on this, I might not have done it. You get 4 coupons back, $5, $3, and $1 for pepsi and $5 for frito-lay. Hopefully you don't have to buy 10 of these to use the coupon!
