Lets start a thread and give each other some ideas and encouragement!

What did you do - big or small - to save money today? (no matter the amount.)

I'll go first.........I went to the mall today to pick up a few gifts (Justice - 40% off coupon:cool1:) and it was around lunchtime. I found myself in the drive thru at Burger King. I backed up, came home and ate a sandwich.

Savings = about $5

I kept my hands busy rolling coins that we save for cruise vacation funds....so I couldn't keep my hands on the keyboard and spend money online like I usually do on a cool, rainy day.............or heck, any day that I am bored and just sitting here reading DIS boards, surfing, looking for ADR's (which I haven't changed in months I might add) and generally killing time on the computer so that I dont have to do housework!

So money saved..............ALOT!

I actually remembered to bring my bottled drinks to work today, saving about $4 in vending machine change! For some reason I forget to do this almost daily.

I find that bringing drinks and brownbagging it for lunch really saves a lot in the long run!

I did a Coupon Princess run.

Got $65 of office supplies for $6.

Got an unbalanced grocery cart of outstanding bargains and a $14 frozen turkey for $6. I am not a Coupon Queen, and I understand that buying just freebies doesn't give you a balanced diet. But today I went cherry-picking.

I am staying out of the way while DH paints the kitchen. Does that count? I wander in there every few hours and applaud his work to help him keep motivated. :cool1:

I hope this counts...

Went to Target for light bulbs and a few kitchen items. Found what I wanted but too pricey ($10 for a rolling pin? REALLY? Oh, there's one for $20!) Looked around till I found one for $5 and then did likewise with my groceries...did NOT buy any "impulse items." In fact, I bought some dinner fixings instead of picking up a rotisserie chicken at Costco as planned. :thumbsup2

Oh, and I didn't go to K-Mart to get DS another shirt he doesn't need (but will love) because I don't even have a coupon.

Hey, it's something...;)

Well my dog just had surgery and cant get out to grocery shop, so I went online and got groceries delivered. When they delivered I noticed they charged me the wrong price for the turkeys, I got reimbursed 10.67 plus I got free delivery which would have been 9.95 so my total saved today is 20.62. Makes me happy.

Today I went to Target, Wegmans, and library:
Bought Anastasia on VHS for .50, which is cheaper than renting from library
10 boxes of Betty Crocker mashed potatoes for .32 each; .87 - .55 coupon
Picked up the Lego Target gift cards for free Legos for my kids
Bought $2/lb boneless chicken breast at Target; got 3 lbs
Bought "use by today" 90% lean ground beef for $1.79/lb; got 6 lbs
Broke up my order into two so I could get an extra set of tissues and tuna at Wegmans
Ordered the "pay the time you call" pizza; starts at 5pm, so a large pie for $5

The other day, I forgot to use my free coupons and go through FatWallet to buy something b/c it was my DD's b-day and we were bidding on a house (didn't work out; not sure I wanted it to). So, I do better when I take my time to save instead of feel so stressed out I can't think.

I didn't save money, but I went for a job interview with a recruiter. Hopefully it will pay me money, eventually!

Then I came home and ate lunch (instead of stopping after the interview), so I guess that saves me a few dollars. We're also scrimping on the last of the milk tonight so that I can go and get it at BJs tomorrow for less than the grocery store.

I made my own coffee this morning instead of stopping for it on my way to work. That saves me a little.

I didn't save money at all today. I spent money. I have 1 pair of contacts left. I was holding out until January to have my FSA account replenished. This morning, a contact rolled off my finger (it happens..) but I couldn't find it anywhere. It's very tough to try to find a contact when you only have one in and not the other, they are quite old to begin with, and it's 5 am in the morning. I believe it was the 1 in 1 million chance that it slipped into the sink drain.

So, I had to make an eye appointment before I could order contacts. It's been 2 years since I've had an exam. $145 later, I have a slight update to my subscription, a new pair of "trial" contacts, and still have to order contacts to the tune of $70 (I'll order with FSA card in January.)

I made it about half an hour before I had a throbbing headache from the safety glasses I had to wear over my regular glasses at work today. Why everyone likes the glasses that grab the sides of your head instead of hooking around your ear is beyond me. They are instant headache for me.

So now I have a new pair of contacts and tomorrow at work I'll be able to wear my normal safety glasses and not have to wear my regular glasses underneath the giant birth-control goggle glasses I needed to wear today.

Ate a breakfast bar this morning and brought my own lunch to work, so that always saves $. I made 2 online purchases today, one for our airport shuttle, and one for Bobbles from JC Penny, and I used coupons for both! Saved a little, and every little bit helps!

I cooked a BUNCH of chili to freeze for those nights when we want to order out.

At least one will be saved for after we return from our Disney trip in January. After a long trip, the last thing I want to do is cook! So, I put food in the freezer for those first couple days home!

I made my own slushiee. I used my 20 gilt card to buy a gift (with free shipping) and I ordered a photobook (free and free shipping)

I went to get dog food and found out it was on sale from $15.99 a bag to $13.99 I had a $3 coupon. The treats were on sale to 2 for 5 usually they are $3.99 each and i had a $1.50 coupon for each.

Total savings today $11 :)

well, maybe this counts...I was heading out to buy a new oral B toothbrush, the rechargeable kind. I had my Kohl's 30% off coupon, $40 in Kohls cash AND a manufactureres coupon from Sundays paper for another $10 off.....knocking off a total of $69 off the item. costing me $22!:thumbsup2 I would normally look for a item for the kids to use the kohls cash on, but I stuck to my needs only, and ONLY purchased the toothbrush. Since I had to put it on my Kohls charge to use the 30% off, I then made the payment at the register right to my card for the $22...yay!
Todasy savings on an item my DDS requested I use or else...$69! He wanted $139 in his office for the same item....Kohls FTW!
AND there is a 50% mail in rebate...so after I receive that my total cost will be $11!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Two things! I went into Target for three things. I stuck to my list, resisted temptation and came out with only three things! Secondly, I had an unexpected doctors appt and was out at lunch time. I was more thirsty than hungry, so instead of getting a meal for $5...I got a $1 tea and came home to make myself a sandwich!

though i did spend money, I saved too.

I bought 2 things off the today show steals and deals (found out about it thru the dis, not the show - same with the last time they ran this promo)

I bought the headphones for my sister, who JUST asked for headphones for xmas. $14 + $10 shipping from $70. Savings $46.

Bought the cardigan from Ann taylor, for my other sister. $24 from $78. Savings $54. (picked it up in-store, so no shipping)

And two Christmas gifts done. Plus I ordered the headphones thru ebates so I'll get a bit back.
