What did you do to save money today??

I went shopping at Kohls yesterday for the kids and my Christmas outfits for $168 using a 15% off coupon (got $30 Kohls cash). Saw the code here on the Dis for 30% so I bought the same exact items online for $133 and Kohls can have their $30 back and I won't be tempted to buy something else.

I think paying $133 for exactly what I want is better than $168 for $198 of stuff, some of which I don't need.

There are advantages to staying home...I spent no money did not do any cleaning no tv no radio. I was supposed to do grocery shopping once DH got home he was tired an hurting from the rain an decided we could wait another day to do that. Ate leftover chili for supper. Dh took his lunch an drinks to work. It was a very cheap day at my house...

Tomorrow is double coupon day at my grocery store. I looked through my coupons vs. what is on sale at the store.

I am allowed to double five coupons, $1 max value, so $2 savings per coupon.

Although I did not save money today, my planning will earn me five free grocery items tomorrow!

I didn't leave the house today, except for taking and picking up the kids from school. This is the best way for me to save money.

Walgreen's has Pretzel M&Ms for $2.50/bag (9.9oz) if you buy 4. Plus you get $5RR. I took 4 $1.00 coupons printed from their Facebook page.

End result was 4 bags of Pretzel M&Ms for $1.00. :)

well.............I don't know if this counts but we bought a used car today. No flames please but I had a car that was 20 years old and the repairs have been costing a fortune. So hopefully, the newer car, eventhough it cost us money, will save us money and time by avoiding all the repairs.

And we did eat lunch while we were out but we used a gift card my DH had won so it was free.

I hear you. I decide not to go to target for a whole month and I hadn't realized how much that alone had been costing me. Even if I only spend $20 a time, it all adds up!

Got a free flu shot because my insurance cover it: saved $25

Got a coupon for medication I needed: saved $1.50

Did a buy 1 get 2 free deal on wrapping paper for Christmas: saved $12

Total savings today was $38.50!

This sort of counts. I went to Target today to get a gift for my son's classmate who it turning 6. I had no idea what to get him when I remembered that a long time ago, thanks to you all on the Dis, I bought Connect 4 on sale and with a coupon for about $5. I bought the kid a Spiderman puzzle as well. So for $10 he'll get 2 gifts. Then I saw they had the Bionicle Hero's on sale for buy 1, get 1 half off. My son loves these but I bought him 2 for Christmas already on clearance so I bought 2 for his birthday in March. Saved $4.

Then I went to get frozen veggies. They were on sale for $1 a bag. Saved $.27 each bag. I bought 5 bags.

I saw that they had the Glade plug-ins for $2.50 each and if you buy 5, you get a $5 gift card. I needed some more of these so I bought the 5 (2 apple for every day and 3 of the pine scent for Christmas time only) and got the gift card for later. Didn't really save but I'll use the gift card later. Oh and when I opened the first plug-in there was a $1 off coupon good through June 2011 so I'll save later, too.

No flames! I think buying a new car will save you some costly repairs! You can totally tell when a car you have had for years is about to self-destruct! Glad you got to 'celebrate' with a free lunch!

I added up what we spent on eating out last month - over $300!!:scared1: Add that to the $300 worth of groceries we buy....how can 3 people eat $600 worth of food every month?????

Guess who is cooking at home this weekend instead of eating out???

I saved money by buying meat for the week that was marked down on managers special. Saved about 50% this way, and it was all stuff we needed. I also avoided the drive through, which was hard because I was so hungry, but I came home and put the money in my vacation jar instead.

Last night I did some planning before going to bed. So, I ran a load of wash right as we went to sleep. Then I loaded the dishwasher and put it on the timer to run around 5:30am. When we got up, I opened the dishwasher to let the steam out and heat up the kitchen a little. Then I pulled the wash out and hung it up on a drying rack that I have sitting over a heat vent. Saved me from running the dryer and also helps the house feel a little warmer.

Though it's not really saving or today, i did agree to help my sister out by working on Black Friday. She's a manager of a Guess store and needs more temp workers just for black friday. So I'll make some extra cash and stay out of other stores, which will save me money, all while helping my sister.

Today to save money. I am leaving the heater at its set temp and I am wrapped in a blanket because I'm a little cold. But I think it's because I had the flu Monday-yuck. I made chili this morning and made extra to freeze for a quick supper another night. I cooked potates today the whole 10lb bag. Some for now, the rest I will mash a little, add a little salt and butter and will freeze for quick mash potatoes later. And I will dice and freeze 3 lb of onions today. And I'm going to call and ask how much new glasses are for me (got the exam earlier this year), this week I must put in for my flexi account for next year.

Today I must go to our little town and print pictures for DS for school -one engineering picture from disney for each day we were there for his school makeup, I'm hoping to find a coupon in the store when I'm there. The pictures are due tomorrow.

Yesterday AM before school I had DD look at her dresses given to us from a friend to choose and make sure it fit for her school concert tomorrow night, last night on the way home from work I bought her stockings only. Saving me a trip to that town 25 miles one way today. While in that store, I saw vegetables 4/$1 limit 12, so I picked up the limit for DD to put in the school collecting barrel. Friday when I return to that town I will get 12 cans for DS school. Actually I will get 24 cans total for each child if the store will let me do quick 3 sales.

I do this. We usually have drying clothes all over the house. Along with the dishwasher, I always leave the oven door open when I'm done baking.

Today I opted for lunch from a grocery store, and not the sushi I really wanted! That's going to save me something like eight dollars. Also, brought canned drinks from home to work.

it's a rainy wet day so the crockpot is going..... making a huge batch of chili with tomatoes from our garden this summer that I froze. I have no idea how much the beans cost as I had them in the oantry and the meat was one of those mgr specials I bought a few weeks back and stuck in the freezer.

So we won't eat out and what ever is left of the chili, I can freeze.

In a round about way I saved about $5.50 today. :goodvibes DH and I had to go to a meeting so afterwards we went out to lunch which we very rarely do...oops spending money. But he wanted to go to a sub place and we bought one sub and split it instead of getting a whole sub each and shared a side of onion rings.
