What did you do the day after MVMCP?

Hi folks! I'm planning on attending the party for the first time with my kids who will be 5 and 7. They have no problem staying up late, but they also are not the type to sleep in, no matter how late they went to bed. Therefore I know the next day they will need to nap at some point, but I am not sure when they will crash. I'm not sure if I should plan to do a park in the am and then come back for naps, or stay at the hotel in the am, try to do a nap and then the park... Or just not do a park at all! just wondering what others did! Thanks in advance!

I guess it would depend on how many days you have in the park. If I wasn't concerned about wasting a half day for tickets then I would plan AK or Epcot as my park day after MVMCP. If you have extra days and all your park days are used then have a relaxing day at the resort and maybe head over to Disney Springs.

First of all, you may find that your kids sleeping habits change during a trip. Disney is exhausting!

Having that said, plan nothing. It's really nice to have some downtime. If you feel like you can't do that, sleep in, and head to a park in the afternoon. Maybe have a late breakfast ADR and go from there.

Since you are going during the holidays, your kids might like looking at the resort decorations and seeing the gingerbread house at the Grand Floridian.

Regardless, have a magical trip! pixiedust:

Like Squirrel said, it depends on how long your stay is, how many days worth of tickets you have, how much of your vacation is done/ahead....

If you're doing the party towards the tail end of your vacation, if you have already been to the parks and gone on your favorite rides, etc - I'd suggest making it a resort day, maybe playing a round of mini-golf if your kids are into it, floating around in the pool for a while, etc. Maybe resort-hop (if you have a car), have a leisurely meal, let your bodies (and your aching feet!) have some downtime. You can hit a park in the afternoon/evening if you want, if everyone has the energy... or you can just make it a down day.

If you're only there a few days and would completely miss a park if you skipped a day, I'd say go ahead and get to a park the next morning, maybe not right at rope drop, but fairly early. Ride a few things, see a show, etc. Then head back to the hotel for downtime in the afternoon - lunch, swim, nap, whatever floats your boat. You can head back to the park (or hop to another, if you've got Park Hoppers) for the evening, after everyone's refreshed...

Relax the next day. We made the mistake of having a pre-park BOG the next day, yes I am an idiot but it was just two of us so I thought it would be okay, it wasn't. It was exhausting. Didn't help that we didn't get out of these until almost two hours after the park closed because we were in line to see Flynn Ryder and it took forever. So my advice is sleep in and play it by ear.

Thanks guys! We are going for 9 days and already have another day set aside for Disney Springs. If we went to a park, it would be Epcot which would be our third time but we love it there and every trip we regret not spending more time there. So it's tempting to get a ticket for that day, but I also am tempted to not put the pressure on ourselves to go anywhere.

I would just not make any ARD for Epcot that day. Let everyone sleep till they wake up and if eveyone IS up in time to get to Epcot at a decent time, head there with the plan of staying a few hours and then heading back to the room for a mid-day nap. Maybe try to make that night an early night.

My plan was to get a late start at Epcot with my son (7) but he woke up in the middle of the night throwing up so we ended up staying in the room. Hope that doesn't happen to you.

But, I'd gotten FP's for our favorites (Land, Seas and Figment) starting at around 11ish and then the plan was to spend the rest of the day roaming WS.

I have learned to not count on how my kids sleep at home to be the rule at Disney too. When on vacation, we just go with the flow and with how
everyone is feeling at the moment.

One of the reasons I don't like the new FP+ system and haven't been back to WDW. It was bad enough if I had to cancel a Dining Reservation (once in 4 trips during Free Dining). The first trip with my niece I learned so much- she needed more sleep than I thought. Days at the resort are nice to have where you don't have to go anywhere.

We did the Halloween party. The next day, we went to a water park. It took less of the day and was very flexible.
