What did you do/get for your 20th wedding anniversary?

For out 20th we probably went out for dinner but nothing else. I started planning for our 25th right after that. We went to a cabin in the woods where I cooked and cleaned for the week for our honeymoon. I told him then that I planned the 25th. We went on a cruise from Vancouver to Hawaii. It was wonderful even if he had tried to talk me out of it for the 5 yrs. He thought it would be romantic if we went back to the cabin in the woods. No thank you. He ended up really enjoying it and we have taken several cruises since with one planned in Sept. We will be married 39 yrs this Oct.

We, DH, DS (13), DM (72), and myself went on a road trip from Ontario, Canada, to Williamsburg West VA. We stopped in Norfolk to see the Naval area. It was awesome.

Our oldest son (17), was in Greece, part of a Music Exchange program. So we thought with the four of us in a car, instead of five, to go for it! ;)

Did you buy each other gifts ( and what?), did he get you jewelry or did you take a vacation together?

Nope, did not have the funds.

That being said, I AM going to plan something for the 25th which will be in Dec. 2015. Not sure what though. I would like to go to overseas, cruise, or something else.

We didn't start doing anything out of the ordinary until our 25th anniversary, a cruise around the Hawaiian Islands. 30th was a cruise to Alaska.

That was nearly 18 years ago, but I think that probably all we did was go out for dinner, and probably exchanged silly cards.

I'm hoping we can do something special for number 40, though. Two more years and a few weeks to go. Maybe a cruise (Disney, of course!), or maybe Sonic for a milkshake.

We never do anything for our anniversary other than exchange cards and go out to dinner. We hit year 34 last month so something must be working!

Funny, I found this thread this week, Dh and I were discussing our upcoming 30th anniversary gift. He works at a large company and they give him a anniversary present every five years and it happens right around our anniversary date. We switch on you gets to pick out the present from a catalog of gifts. For 20 dh got a ring, for 25 I got a diamond ring. Dh got the catalog the other day and said I could pick the gift and we're booked for 5 days in wdw.

I am guessing we went out to dinner.

DH and I are approaching 29 years and really don't do gifts. We did go to the Outer Banks for the weekend for 25 and may do something for 30. We've been busy paying for 2 kids to go to college and grad school so didn't have the $$ for trips.

I sometimes feel like we are the only ones on this board who don't do extravagant things for birthdays and anniversaries. Maybe there are others.

Count me in! Celebrated 20 last year and we had dinner. No gifts, no hoopla, no trips. We tend to not worry about marking any types of anniversaries, just enjoy life day to day!:lovestruc

I don't exactly remember, that was 13+ years ago. But if it was what we normally did, we exchanged cards and said "I love you." We figure all the previous years we had together was our gift to each other.

However, for our 30th, we did go to WDW. But I think it was more an excuse to go away as we had been dealing with some work related issues and really needed to get away for a little bit. It was convenient to say it was for our anniversary ;).

Our 20th is this coming October. Don't have anything planned as of yet. Probably won't do anything "big" this year. Just dinner.

I know we've been talking about doing an Alaskan cruise someday. So maybe for our 25th?

:thumbsup2. This is us DH and I where married October 23, 1993!

We really can't afford anything, dd18 is heading off to college in a few weeks and all extra money is going into that.

Ours was last October, we don't have anyone to watch our kids for very long, but we went to Newport, RI for 3 days. It was great!
No gifts.

We just celebrated our 20th on June 26th. We spent it at the baseball field watching DS13 play ball and we had dinner from the concession stand.popcorn:: We're romantic like that! :lmao:We enjoyed every minute of it!!! :lovestruc

Lol, we planned our trip so we'd be back in time for our son's football game and to watch our daughter cheer. We went Thurs-Sat and were back for the Sat night game.

Our 20th I spent the day at the orthodontist. DS#1 got his braces off and DS#2 got his braces on :scared:

Our 25th is next year. We WILL be going somewhere just haven't figured out where yet :cool1:

My parents celebrated 20 years just yesterday. They didn't do much of anything, but they're big Princess Bride fans, so my dad got a shirt that said 'Get back witch!' and my mom got one that said 'I'm not a witch, I'm your wife!', which they wore to celebrate.

I think we need these t-shirts. Did they get them made?

We also went to WDW for our 20th, first time we left DD home alone. She was 17, and we didn't do it again for two years!

Our 25th was this year. We spent a week in a vacation cottage overlooking Morro Bay, CA, and then went up to Paso Robles for a few days to do wine tastings. It was a great trip.

Next year DH has a landmark birthday and I am thinking about planning a European trip.

Went through some stuff last year, so going and doing has become a greater priority.

For our 20th we took our three kids to Hawaii. Three islands in 18 days. People couldn't believe we took our kids with us, but we actually enjoyed every minute with them, even though they were all teenagers! :thumbsup2

It was truly a memorable trip. :)

We always opt for the vacation. We value experiences more than stuff.

20th anniversary- Vegas
40th Birthdays- Paris
25th anniversary- England and France
50th birthdays- trip was cancelled as DH battled cancer and had a stem cell transplant.
51st birthdays- we just returned from Hawaii with our two children. We took them along as we celebrated DH's restored health.

:thumbsup2 &. Best Wishes for continued good health.
