What did you bake today ? OK if not from scratch

I am debating making and frosting sugar cookies. I am not artistic and while they are my favorite cookie I never make them. I feel like I should have gotten a sweater cookie cutter and claimed they are ugly on purpose. . I’ll report back!

We actually had an ugly sweater cookie kit one year! - It came with premade cookies and a bunch of stuff to decorate them. We made them with DS and DNephew and the grandparents, and we all had a blast!

First two batches of cookies are done. Grinch hearts (lemon and raspberry) as well as spice cake crackle cookies. I think I’m going to make Mexican hot chocolate next and maybe striped shortbread dough.

DS13 is having some friends over this afternoon to bake Christmas cookies and watch Die Hard. He made the dough last night. I sampled a little to make sure it tasted right and it was delicious. Wish me luck wrangling a kitchen full of crazy teenagers. I adore his friends but they're crazy

Today did chocolate and peanut butter fudge, chocolate chip cookies, peanut butter cookies and chocolate crackle cookies

I followed this recipe, except I skipped the lemon zest and glaze. I used three generous drops of green food coloring and one yellow to achieve a more Grinch like green.

I formed the dough into cookie portioned balls (sprayed hands with cooking spray) and then flattened with my hands into a rounded shape.

For the hearts, I used store bought raspberry preserves and heated up the jar for about 25 seconds in the microwave. I used my pinky and the edges of a 1/8 tsp spoon to form the hearts and used the same spoon to fill in the hearts before baking. I believe they were in for 15 minutes at 350.

Striped shortbread dough is still chilling but I tried Mexican Hot Chocolate Cookies three different ways. Wrapping the marshmallow in dough was a wreck, melting it almost fully at the end of the bake was messy, but putting it on top at the very end worked pretty well.

In my Crockpot:

2 lb. bag of sauerkraut
1 diced red onion
5 minced cloves of garlic
2 cut apples
3 potatoes, sliced
1 lb. of turkey kielbasa, sliced into ~1/2" pieces
Lots of fennel
Black pepper

Cooked on high for about 5 hours until the potatoes were just right.

None are home made. I just need to figure out how to do 8 things that are different temperatures and times. Luckily I do have 2 ovens.
Usually this is New Year's Eve stuff, so I told them NY Eve or Day will be real food

I got tired and skipped baking last night. This morning, I got around to baking the striped shortbread log I had chilling in the fridge. It didn’t slice very well, so some of the cookies are enormous. The glitter sugar process was also a bit of a dud but you can see little bits of the sparkly edges. Hopefully getting in a few more batches today.

I have never enjoyed baking, so I do not make Christmas cookies. However, my granddaughter loves to bake, so she and her husband are making cookies for us today.

I think they look great. I am so horrible at piping, so anyone that can work with royal icing is doing awesome in my opinion.

Yesterday, i baked molasses cookies and the 3x ginger cookies @NYCgrrl mentioned a few pages back. I made both doughs last weekend, so yesterday was just oven time for them. Also made shortbread cookies, cranberry crisps and anisette cookies yesterday.

I made two new recipes (both shown in the pic) - nutmeg logs and cranberry macaroons. Baked the macaroons this morning and decorated the logs today. Threw in a batch of m&m cookies for all the little kids at next weekend's extended family Christmas party.

I juat need to make up some gift boxes and I'll be done.

2 loaves egg nog loaves
2 pans of my caramel squares
2 pans of Christmas brownies (this morning)

One more cookie to make - they are unbaked so should be easy.
Might also make 2 more loaves of egg nog loaves as 1 already eaten.

Next round…cherry vanilla chocolate chip cookies. Consistency is more like whipped shortbread.

I made chocolate banana muffins from the Dessertfortwo website. DH likes an spoonful of peanut butter in the middle. Great recipe and makes 6 muffins (DH doesn't really like them frozen so a small batch works better for us). I also made 8 mini buffalo chicken pizzas for the freezer. Great for me lunches or a quick dinner.
